Hello my friends,
I am Alen, from Slovenia (a little green country in the heart of Europe). For the past 15 years, I have lived abroad. I started in Ireland, where I completed a PhD in renewable energy. I have one foot in science and another at the airport, combining research work with travelling around the globe.
The spirit of volunteering fulfils me personally since I can contribute my little help to make our world nicer. I have volunteering experiences by taking part in NGOs like Red Cross, IAAS-International Association of Agricultural Students (http://www.iaasworld.org/), and ZNI-Institute for New Age Education (http://www.zni.si/). I have been workawaying on organic farms, animal shelters, hostels, homestays, and schools in Ireland, Mexico, India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, and Kenya. Each one of them unique, educational, and beautiful story. I like to play guitar by the campfire, making earings from the plant leaves, climbing, and hitchhiking. I am looking towards enjoying every moment of life. Being free in mind and contributing as much as possible. Honestly, it is easier said than done. I want to meet you, a knowledge-seeking traveller, handcrafters, farmers, artists, scientists, and anyone open to tell me her/his story and listening to mine.

- Was raised on the farm where I learned about the lifestyle in the countryside. I want to diversify my skill set by engaging in various volunteer/workaway practices around the globe.
- Sociable person able to make relationships with the kids, middle-aged people, as well as the elderies.
- Practice Vipassana meditation and do regular sports activities.
- Enjoy spending time outdoor in the mountains, waters, deserts, forests and discovering surrounding flora and fauna.
- Pretty good in cooking.
- Passion for teaching and want to be good at.

Alen did a great job with the dogs and with the other volunteers, without caring about the number of working hours: A dog needs to be taken to the vet in the afternoon? - Alen is always willing to go! Everyone´s hungry? Alen loves to cook for the crowd :D
