It was a great experience to meet Doninik, He was helpful, happy and nothing was too much trouble ( including the pebble crush finish on the concrete ) which would try anyone’s patience, ( ha ha ) . We hope his adventure is rewarding and we look forward to seeing you him again in the future. ( He was great at pickleball 😊)

Staying for a month at Nimea and Paolo's place was a wonderful experience. They are both very laid back, welcoming and open-minded. Nimea, who is mostly responsible for the "workaway business", meets you with a lot of trust and you can work very autonomously, but you can always go to her (and also Paolo) to ask for help or clarification. She also often emphasizes that you should only do what you feel comfortable doing and is never pushy or demanding, but she does encourage you to take the opportunity and try out something new. Also the volunteer area is very nice and cosy and the place in the little pinery there is proper beautiful. Being blessed with a whole month of warm and sunny early summer days, we were greeted every morning by the tender rays of sunshine weaving through the canopy of the pinewood forest, spent our day in a very pleasant work-rest-explore rhythm, and brought the day to an end in the sublime evening light glowing on the fields or in the tree tops. Nimea has a very calm and gentle but also fun and engaging presence and makes you feel as if this space is also actually your space, where you are able to blossom and welcome to thrive, whether that is by building a treehouse, having a party with your co-volunteers or collecting herbs and plants from the agroforest to make your very own lemonade. There are also a number of very friendly cats and dogs, which greatly add to the homely atmosphere and every now and then we had a lovely shared meal all together at Nimea and Paolo's place. On top of everything else, we were fortunate to be part of a team of very enjoyable, fun and lovely people, who made it all the more easier to truly arrive and call this beautiful corner of the world your home for the time being. Another bonus: Nimea gives the best hugs ever. And last but not least, little Oceano, who can be very shy but also quite cheeky and a super sweet little whirlwind to keep you on your toes! Thank you truly for opening your doors for us!

ammaso is a lovely person who is easy to deal with. He stayed on the farm for about a week. He helped me a lot with the farm. He has a lot of knowledge and also gladly made his own suggestions which was appreciated. Tammaso is most welcome back and I can really recommend him.

We spent almost 3 weeks at this place. It was our first workaway experience, and it was just perfect! We helped with housekeeping, general cleaning, and did some gardening too. The hostel is amazing, it has beautiful surroundings. The backyard is basically a jungle. Eels live in the stream and so many birds around! We did plenty hikes in our free time, there is just so much to see! Piha is a magical place. Geoff was a great host, he took us for a quiz night at the surf club and we even went for fishing at the sea! Jeff was also very kind, he taught us some nice tricks and he was always really helpful. We will remember for this experience for a long time. Thank you for everything Geoff & Jeff

It was a pleasure to host Lulu and her kids in our home for a week. We shared and learned from each other, our kids got to practice their English while playing and having fun, we tried new recipes that Lulu cooked, and it was overall a very enriching experience. It was interesting to discover how many thing we have in common regarding lifestyle, parenting, etc. and I got a few tips that will be helpful in our daily life and in the garden.

We had such a great time on this workaway - Nicola was so welcoming and friendly, her home was beautiful and we were well looked after with lovely homecooked meals and a nice private bedroom. In terms of work, we did a mixture of painting, wood stacking, wood gathering and a few general household jobs. We had plenty of time to explore the local area and had a lovely day out at Rainbow Beach, went to the races in Gympie and also visited the Ration Shed Musuem, which was very interesting and a real insight into aboriginal history. Thank you Nic!

Robert and Lizzie were amazing volunteers. They were fun. They were friendly. They were great with my four-year-old son, Ziggy. They even made a children's book for him. They are welcome back any time! Thank you for being so wonderful and bringing so many great vibes to the farm.

Marcel was an absolutely outstanding Workaway guest, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. First and foremost, Marcel is a truly beautiful person: warm, friendly, fun, empathetic, and always in a good mood. He brought a positive and uplifting energy into our home from the very beginning. Secondly, Marcel is an exceptionally skilled craftsman. I initially asked him to build a simple bed for our van – but what he ended up creating went far beyond my expectations. He practically redesigned and rebuilt the entire van interior with incredible precision and creativity. The result is not only visually stunning but also impressively functional, practical, and finished with an eye for detail that reveals true craftsmanship. Finally, Marcel is caring and helpful. When I unexpectedly ruptured my achilles during his stay, he stepped in without hesitation, helping me down the stairs, driving me to the hospital, and even postponing his return travel in order to assist with the tasks I could no longer manage. If you ever have the chance to host Marcel, consider yourself lucky. He is not just a fantastic worker – he's a truly remarkable and beautiful person.

I had a wonderful time with Sarah and Jones during my 3 week stay with them. They welcomed me with open arms, made me feel at home, are generous with their stories, their food and sharing what they value in life. We've had wonderful conversations, went on trips where I got to see some incredible hidden places around Galicia, I met some of the loving and caring people around them, it was just great and I could write half a book about it but trust me when I say you should go and experience it for yourself ;) I did a variety of work for them ranging from cleaning out part of an unused barn, to re-wiring some of the steel wires holding up the grapevines, to cutting down tall grass in the backyard and a variety of other smaller tasks. Usually we'd have breakfast together (after the daily fresh (!) baker showed up), work for a couple hours, have lunch, sometimes do a bit more after lunch, other times not so much. It was always chill, it was well communicated, there were clear expectations and there was also room to say 'I'm not extremely comfortable with this, so if I could do something else, great' - as an example; after doing work in the lawn for a day my allergies hit badly, I told them I'd like to do something which involved less grass, and so we did. No fuss. Just friendly, calm, professional. As a first workaway experience, can't recommend enough. It showed me a part of Spain I didn't know, introduced me to two wonderful people that are chasing a dream, taught me a whole bunch about life, photography and Galicia and generally speaking was just an awesome thing to do.

I stayed here for about 2 weeks back in May, it was simply incredible. Julius and his family made me feel so welcome the whole time. The location of the village is amazing, being 2 minutes away from Lake Victoria, surrounded by hills and gorgeous nature, don't even get me started on the stunning sunsets on the lake. Getting there was so cool, especially from Mbita to the village, where you'll ride on a motorcycle with scenic views on the way! I was served 3 delicious meals a day, and my favourite time was dinner time as that is when I would eat with Julius and Vivian and we exchanged so much haha! Everyday I was showering in the lake, and spending hours there, as it was so peaceful and beautiful. I went there during school time so I only really helped the kids in the computer lab on the weekends, which was lovely. Sadly, the power is unstable and some of the computers do not work, so I recommend bringing your own laptop if you can, that way you're sure to have a backup plan. If anyone is good with Linux, that would be great as there is a good laptop there that seems to be bugged, but I couldn't do anything as I have never used Linux before! On top of the computer lab, I did a fundraiser to raise money for the construction of the youth centre. I spent a lot of my time with Julius' dad, Martin, who took me around the village and even a short hike! Life here is very relaxing, and things are taken slowly here, if you ask around you can definitely do many other activities. I learned so much Luo through Julius, the village and the rest of his family, so the cultural exchange was amazing. Everyone was so lovely, and helpful, teaching you what you want to know! There is so much more to say but I'll stop it here as it'll be too long haha. Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all :)! EROKAMANO AINYA, Julius, Vivian, "The Disastrous" Hazzel haha, Charles, Bonface, Martin, Plista, Aurelia, Sneida, Melda, Brian, Kevin, Ken, Lavia, Elian, CJ and Rosie!!! Oriti!

Although it’s been a year since my stay, my time at Brian’s was so special that I still think about it often – which is why I decided to finally leave this (very overdue) review. This was my very first Workaway experience, and it truly couldn’t have been better. I had a fantastic time and met wonderful people from all over the world. Brian made sure the work schedule was fair and well-organized, and he was always open to help or rearrange things if you wanted to go on a personal trip or explore the area. The work expected from you is very reasonable – especially considering everything you get in return: good vibes, great people, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Huge thanks to both Brians for the kindness and hospitality. You’ve made a lasting impact, and I’ll always look back on my time there with a big smile!

Sissi and Stamatis are first-class five-star Workawayers. Very talented, intelligent, hard-working and responsible. We left them for a week to house-sit and cat-sit and when we returned everything was just perfect. I think they fell in love with the house and especially Figaro, the cat. They were excellent company, spoke perfect English, and our conversations over the dinner table ranged from the etymology of the word sycophant to the music of Benjamin Britten. They were brilliant in the garden, turning their hand to all sorts of tasks – cutting all the grass (a big job), cutting back overgrown hedges, clearing and preparing a bed for the cucumbers and courgettes, power spraying round the pool, climbing ladders to cut back vines, and so much mote. We are immensely grateful to them both and wish them every success. And look forward to keeping in touch. Peter and Carolyn

Working and living with Adrian and Bree was a beautiful experience. The hostel is beautiful and you feel very welcome at the first day! I was helping at the house and the cafe. They have two dogs and a cat which I loved staying with. Adrian and Bree tried to give me the best cultural experience. Thier people will become your people! You have enough free time to explore the beautiful beaches and mountains around. Please note: They are really busy and need help! You need to work ahead and make sure that the daily tasks are completed- even if they don't always have the time to brief you constantly. You will have a great time if you are willing to work and have a great energy.

I could not have asked for a better first experience as a Workawayer than the one I've had at Lottie and Pete's. They made me feel right at home from the first moment we met and have been so genuine and warm throughout the entire period. The communication was very clear from when we started chatting on the Workaway platform. I knew what to expect in terms of tasks, location, weather and they were quick to respond whenever I had any questions. The location is so dreamy and comfortable with a private bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The internet was stable to handle remote working, shops are easy to get to with car (20 -30 minutes of driving) and although I didn't end up needing it they provided phone-numbers to neighbours and friends in the area in case I would have needed urgent support. During my time I looked after the cats who mostly keep to themselves and are very easy to care for, I did some weeding and watering of their beautiful and well maintained garden which was incredibly satisfying, and looked after their house when they were away for 10 days. They spent time before they left to show me around the house and villages nearby, and let me know how to handle any issues that might occur, giving me the confidence and reassurance to look after their piece of land on my own. I highly recommend Lottie and Pete as hosts. They truly care for their volunteers' well-being, are incredibly generous of themselves, and have a beautiful purpose and vision of their place which feels so good to have been part of albeit on a tiny scale. I never felt lonely out there, it was the perfect place to meditate, reflect and connect with nature. I truly feel like I've made friends for life and can't wait til our paths crosses again. Thank you both so much for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the house and land you've worked so hard on and for getting to spend time with you both <3

We had a wonderful time staying with Melissa and Sam, they truly saved us last-minute from the rain and welcomed us with open arms! From the very beginning, they made us feel incredibly at home. Our short stay actually turned into 11 beautiful days :) The accommodation is fantastic, you have your own space and plenty of privacy. The seven ducks were an absolute highlight, watching them waddle around was so entertaining, and “pea time” quickly became our favorite part of the day! Because of the rain, we only started working in the garden a few days after our arrival, but the work was never too hard, and we were given clear instructions and learned a lot. Melissa took the time to show us a beautiful forest walk and even gave us a tour around Ōpōtiki. Sam also recommended great places to visit and was super friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable around both of them. They even asked around for local job opportunities at nearby orchards for us, which was incredibly thoughtful! The food was always delicious, and duck eggs have definitely become our new favorite! We were happy to help out with some video editing and even got the chance to do a little duck-sitting while they were away, which was a real honor. Our work was always appreciated, and we’d absolutely love to return someday. We can warmly recommend staying with Melissa and Sam – it was a truly special experience!🦆🌞

My stay at Hatem's was a pleasure. I felt truly at home at the farm, the house is spacious with a beautiful garden to enjoy, and Hatem was kind in providing everything I needed from food to toiletries. Hatem is a laid-back and generous guy, on my first day I was welcomed with a delicious barbeque and was introduced to some of his lovely friends. I was then shown the basic responsibilities I would be taking care of over my two week stay, all of his instructions were clear and straight forward. In May, when I arrived, it was not the high season for mushroom production. Therefore my tasks were simply taking care of the garden (watering every morning, clearing rubbish, keeping the sitting area tidy), keeping the house clean, filling up the water tank for the humidifier, and occasionally cleaning some of the equipment. After my daily tasks, I was left with lots of free time to enjoy Dahab's beaches, practice my Arabic, explore the town, and pursue my hobbies and interests. I would recommend volunteering with Hatem to anyone who wants to experience all that Dahab has to offer, while learning new skills and contributing to an interesting and unique project. Thank you Hatem!

(Ilse) I stayed with Danielle from May 16th to June 6th, 2025. At first, my girlfriend and I enjoyed working in this wonderful, diverse garden with chickens. It's a little paradise. Danielle is very welcoming and made every effort to ensure we felt completely at home. She provided a large holiday apartment, bodyboards, bicycles, and a wealth of knowledge about Lancanau culture. The three hours of work per day flew by, and the rest was pure vacation. She sometimes treated us to oysters and sardines, showed us cultural exhibits, accompanied us to the market, and gave us interesting books to read. I highly recommend this host and accommodation to everyone.
