Me and my sister spent 10 days with Mustafa at the farm. We really enjoyed our time there! Mustafa is really friendly and smiley :) While there we had the opportunity to also spend time with his family which received us as another member! This was a great opportunity for a cultural exchange, as we spent time with the lovely Turkish family and also learned how to cook several delicious homemade Turkish recipes. We were drinking a lot of tea and laughing a lot together. During our time there we helped him with the following: -Putting ropes on walnuts trees in order to help them grow straight. -Planting seedling -Collecting greens from the garden -Placing mulch on a planting area. Before we left Mustafa took us to see a small zoo near by, and also to have a ride with horses. The only downside was that there's no internet at the farm, so if you need to work online you must be prepared. Nonetheless, when we needed internet Mustafa took us to a farm nearby where it was available so we could do our work. We left this farm with our heart filled with good memories! We'll miss you Mustafa!! We totally recommend joining him!! Pd: They have the most lovely cats at the farm and we enjoyed very much holding and petting them!

This was my first workaway experience but woww it was amazing! If you want to experience farm live and especially a permaculture farm this is the place! Pictures cant even show how beautiful the views are, every morning you just wake up to enjoy the view and start your day working outside. Sophie explained a lot about permaculture and was lovely to help you around and to have nice conversations with during the lunch. You can help a lot and after she or Diego explains what to do or where to plant what (and why) you feel the freedom here. In the afternoon I helped all the lovely animals (goats, sheep, horses, ducks) back to there home as they go around the whole farm during the day and feed them. This was just so much fun and you really will feel the happiness of the animals, Sophia and yourself as you see how well they are doing.

Spent a great 4 weeks in Órgiva at Tina, Alan, and Azzy's place! It was my first Workaway experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They are great people with whom you can have a chat about anything and were lovely company. In how you do your work, Tina leaves you pretty free, but in the house, there is a pretty set way of doing things, but you get used to that pretty quickly. Next to that, the food provided was great and plentiful. For work, I did a bit of gardening at the start, but my main work was breaking down the old shed which had caved in due to a heavy storm and building a new one. Even though I had never laid bricks before, Jake (who lives in a caravan on the land and is a great guy) taught me, and together I think we managed to build a pretty solid shed! Work was 4.5 hours in the morning during the week, which was lovely in the Spanish sun, with weekends off. The room, with private bathroom, was great, and the house, land, and pool provided plenty of space to relax. Next to that, it was lovely to hang out with the 3 dogs and 5 cats. In Órgiva, there is not loads to do, but the Alpujarra valley and the mountains around it are very beautiful, so I spent every Sunday hiking in and around Órgiva, with Alan being kind enough to drop me off at the starting place of hiking routes.

Our stay with Claudia and Masala has been a special one. We stayed for some 3 weeks building on her mudmansion. The work is fun and interesting, if ecobuilding is what you like this place is awesome. Claudia knows a ton about the topic and loves explaining everything in length. The land is beautiful but isolated, Claudia was always happy to take us along to town if she was heading there. It's more difficult if she is not available. We had to provide our own food for dinner so gathering foodstuff required some planning. Together with Claudia we joined some activities and parties with her friends. All of them are really great and made us feel very welcome. Thank you so much Claudia We'll keep following the progress of your project with a lot of anticipation. big hugs Tess & Lukas

I stayed with Anne for 1 week but wish it could have been longer! Anne is compassionate, generous and fun. Her land is beautiful, with an expansive view from the mountain all the way to the south coast, and a really tranquil atmosphere. I was sick for a day when I first arrived and Anne took great care of me - I was relieved to be in such a safe place and with someone who's into natural health. Once I was better, my tasks were mostly clearing brambles etc where they had encroached on Anne's plants while she was away. Anne was patient and appreciative and I was able to work at cooler times of day, so I enjoyed the work. We ate together and the food was top quality - homegrown/local, organic, healthy and delicious. Anne took me out to a couple of lovely events so I got to meet some of her many friends and get a sense of the Monchique community. It was also amazing to go to her yoga classes and to have the beautiful retreat centre right next door. I loved our endless chats, sharing book recommendations and playing Boggle. Thank you so much Anne, until next time! Xxx

I stayed with Mary and Adrian for only 2 weeks, but I must say I had a very good time. The work I did was interesting, different from what I had done until then. I worked in the polytunnel and also in the outdoor garden. The place is beautiful and if you love to go for some nice walks you have a lot of free time. They are very willing to give you rides and often offer you outings together to go to the beach or to some event. The work is not hard and the room available is beautiful. They are very nice and follow a very healthy lifestyle, it is nice to change habits and have new experiences. One of the best experiences I had :)

It’s difficult to put into words my feelings about my stay with Isabelle and Gerry. For sure, words will never be enough to describe my three wonderful weeks with them and to express my gratitude for everything they did for me. It was my first Workaway experience and I was a bit anxious because I didn’t know what to expect. However, from the first moment I met Isabelle and Gerry I knew I had nothing to fear and every moment has been special and perfect (except for those cruel midges ahah). I never thought it would be possible to feel such a deep affection and to be so connected with people I haven’t met before, but that’s what happened with Gerry and Isabelle. They certainly are one of those special people you meet once in a lifetime and I know for sure I won’t be the same person as I was before knowing them. They welcomed and treated me as if I were a member of the family (involving me in their lovely family life) and I immediately felt at home, warmly respected, accepted, safe and heartily looked after. They gave me unconditional trust, kindness and support and my presence and my work for them have never been taken for granted; in fact, they’ve always had words of appreciation for me and for the various task I did. This, of course, was really important to me because I really wanted to help them and to do a good job! They’re the most kind, gentle, caring, generous, loving, hardworking, calm, positive, sweet, cheerful, patient and hilarious people I’ve ever met! Their home is like a precious gem full of care and love: a peaceful and breathtaking place to find inner peace and to reconnect with yourself, surrounded by flourishing nature, wild mountains, sheep and endless fields. There’s something special and magical in this place, I could feel it. Here you can feel the positive and relaxed energy which was a balm for my soul; here I’ve eventually been able to breathe again after a long difficult period. I feel tremendously privileged to have had the chance to stay here and to witness Isabelle and Gerry’s worldview and their incredible and sustainable way of living. I’ve learnt so much from them: they inspired me to become a better person, even more careful about my impact on our wonderful planet. Just with their example I’ve became more aware of my way of living and I’ve realized what I think I’d like my future life to be. They’ve taught me a lot about values of life and what really matters. The work I had to do was always doable and I had plenty of time for myself and to relax: Isabelle was always careful to give me the lighter work! I only wish I could help them more! They were always available and helpful in any possible way: they were happy to drive me wherever I wanted and they even looked after me when I caught a cold! On my last day we went for a tour of the Beara Peninsula together and it was magical: what I’ll cherish the most is the time spent with them! They’ve been amazingly patient with my English as well, helping me a lot to improve it and to learn new words and idioms! I’ll miss them so dearly and I’ll miss our moments together: the morning tea and my chats/language lessons with Isabelle, our gardening works amongst the flowerbeds, the relaxing and special time I had near the sea, the delicious food Isabelle prepared everyday with so much care and love (I don’t know where she finds the time, the patience and the energy to do it after all the hard work outside!) and most of all our lovely and delicious lunches and dinners all together, full of warmth, talks and laughter! I’ll miss Little Cat and our cuddles so much! They’ve become a second family to me and I feel so blessed and honored that our paths met in this life. I can’t thank them enough for everything they gave me (that was further more than I gave to them) and I’ll dearly keep them in my heart forever. A million thanks Isabelle, Gerry and Little Cat, thank you, thank you! Shari

My girlfriend and me visited Tim for two weeks and helped him in his big Garden. It was such an amazing experience. The place itself its very beautiful, peaceful, surrounded by nature, with breathtaking view. The work was not too hard, Tim gave us the opportunity to work flexibly and choose tasks that supported our strengths or where we could learn something new. Tim himself is a very very friendly young man who is openminded and relaxed. you knew right from the start that he wanted us to have a good time. I saw him as respectful towards us and listened to our requests, if we had any. In our freetime we did fun things together, but he also respected our privacy. We would always come back and are very grateful for the experience. We wish you all the best for the future!

I stayed with Bernard and Phylomena for 5 weeks even though I was only supposed to stay for 3 weeks. Here I had one of the best experiences I have ever had, every day was different from the next. The jobs held were of the most varied. Usually in the morning we would start by feeding the sheep and lambs, then for the rest of the hours I would work with Bernard in the power plant or doing work on the part of the house they were restoring. With Phylomena we took care of the polytunnel, sowing and transplanting vegetables and flowers or repainted the outside walls. Then during the period of my stay I had the opportunity to work on Bernard's fishing catamaran, both in terms of maintenance and on actual fishing days. I had a great time working with Bernard, he is very nice and if you have questions he is always very willing. If you ask he even corrects you while you are talking to him, and I think that is a very useful thing. Both of them are very nice and understanding. There you have your own space separate from the main house and there is no shortage of time to explore the island. I can say that they are wonderful people, and I must say that it was very difficult to get away from the island, also because little by little you start getting to know the inhabitants. I will definitely have to return one of the next summers.

Paul and Millie are very gracious and kind people who are very invested in seeing that there Workawayers have a pleasant and enjoyable stay. Paul brought us into Belgium for the good sausages and beer and to the Maginot line and Verdun to visit some important WWI battle sites and memorials. We were surprised at how limited our knowledge of the first world war was. There is a lot to learn about this area. Paul was with us for a week on the boat and then left it with us for the remainder of our time aboard "Mister Kempers". Our primary work was to descale rust, clean and paint the boat. Paul was very respectful of our expertise and allowed us a great deal of latitude deciding what to do and how to best accomplish the tasks. He was an absolute delight, so kind and funny. Paul left us with bikes so that we could get around. There is a well maintained paved pathway that parallels the canals. We used the pathway to ride into Donchery to get groceries and we usually took an afternoon ride or walk along the path to one of the neighboring villages. There is also a bus stop right at the port that connects to Sedan and Charleville, these are both well connected public transport hubs. Watching the boats go through the lock, was a constant source of entertainment as well as providing many opportunities to meet people from different countries who sailed through. We met people from Australia, England, France, Belgium, Norway, and the Netherlands. We also had a delightful time getting to know the locals at the port. We met Millie on the last weekend of our stay. We had a great time with these two, visiting area attractions and going hunting for treasure at the local vide-greniers. We believe we have made friends for life and we highly recommend Paul and Milly as hosts!

My experience here was truly amazing, some of the best and most meaningful times of my life. I have arrived 2 years ago, with intention to explore community living and to develop my skills in permaculture gardening and sustainable lifestyle. I have met plenty of wonderful people along the way and made many lifetime friendships. Buen, the house of volunteers, provides a great balance between having a private space to unwind, as well as beautiful common areas to socialise and get together. Regarding my work, I enjoyed the variety of tasks. Primarily, I was assigned to develop food forest gardens, as I have diploma in that area and I love to do that. However, I also enjoyed various heavy duty physical jobs, as it's something I am capable of and like to do. Lastly, I appreciate I could also help as house mediator and partial volunteer coordinator, to practice my skills in this area. This place now feels to me like home, and people there are like my family. I will always carry it with me in my heart and I am excited to watch how it's growing. 🌱 I am looking forward to return at some points to help, learn, have fun and grow together. 💜 Tusind tak to Aslaug and everyone else for all the hard work while embodying your vision, holding space for everyone to join this project and for being who you are. 🤍 For workaways who are considering to join and having questions, feel free to send me a message. Much love, Patrik

I’m incredibly grateful to have been able to live and get to know Olive, Nick, Robin and Kit during this workaway. It was a very enriching experience and met up with all of my expectations. They are flexible and accommodating, I have always been able to organize myself according to my preferences or needs. They made me feel at home, like I was part of the family and not an outsider. Nick has taught me a lot regarding permaculture and was always willing to answer my questions. Olive as well, whether it was about Irish culture or her job. And Robin and Kit were lovely to be around, very dynamic and creative. I will miss you guys a lot. About the Dingle Peninsula, it’s a gorgeous place to be if you enjoy spending time outside in nature. There are many beautiful places to visit whether hiking or cycling. Thank you again for a wonderful experience !

Li was an amazing volunteer! She cooked local foods and joined my theater practices. We had a great time. Even if she does not accept this, she has great humor as well. I can recommend her from my heart.

Greg and Natalie really made me feel like at home and the work was fun and easy! They tried to help me with everything, found somebody who could sew my hammock, recommended cool places to visit, borrowed me their Bogotá Metro card and a lot more! I worked mostly until lunch, with feeding the ducks and cows and then some other tasks, depending on what was urgent, for example building new nests for the ducks or cleaning cages. It was always fun and easy to do and they were always there if I had a question. We had some good talks, they were really easy to bond with and I'll definitely miss them! Would 100% recommend this little Finca (and the little ducklings were soo crazy cute!!)

I just left the Workaway after 3 amazing weeks, this place is incredible, I just felt at home since the beginning. I was treated like family, Beppe massimo and ronja are super funny, friendly and very good persons, you will never get bored with them. the dogs are lovely and cute and they can give you so much love. I was working 4 hours a day, sometimes just with the dogs and some days with other projects like gardening, cleaning painting and building. after this you have the rest of the day free where you can check around the island different calas, beaches and little villages. I rented a scooter so I was free to move around, but also the guys are super available to take you to the closest bus station. I will definitely recommend this place if you are a dog person. I am already planning to be back as soon as I can. thanks a lot guys you are amazing.

My partner and I stayed with Myriam and her family for 6 weeks during March/April 2024 and it was such a wonderful experience! From day 1 we felt as if we were a part of the family and living the French and Bretagne lifestyle. We discovered so many things in the area and learnt so much in such a short amount of time including traditional Bretagne cuisine (galette saucisse je t'aime), ecology, the language and the lifestyle of a French family living in the countryside. Most of the work was centred around gardening and weeding, along with general tasks around the house and yard, but nothing too strenuous and it was lovely being outside for most of the work. Myriam was able to lend us her's or her daughter's car for any day trips we wanted to make. In our time we drove to Mont Saint-Michel, Cancale, Saint-Malo, the Atlantic Coast and of course Rennes (which is conveniently located only 30 minutes away). We honestly don't think our stay at could have gone any better and will always remember our experience and all our lovely friends in Bretagne. Thank you to Myriam, Claudie, Myrdhin, Esther, and everyone else we met along the way, it was the best experience!

My experience with Noa and Diego was filled with adventure, fun and laughter. They are very gracious and welcoming and placed value on my comfort as well as getting to explore the local area on hikes and beaches. They knew about local history, which was fascinating, and are both very creative so if this matters to you, prepare to be inspired! The line of communication was always open and clear and the work is done on beautiful land. It was also literally fruitful as the trees produce yummy oranges and persimmons. On that note, they are both excellent at cooking and will teach you how to up your culinary game if you want to. Also I left them a thank you note in very bad handwriting and they still put it on their fridge, which was very sweet. (: They are great company and terrific hosts, I would absolutely stay with them again.
