My experience at the Hostel was my first workaway, and I think it was the perfect place to start. Not gonna lie, the place can seem like a lot at first, big dorm, repetitive shift some days, and it takes some time to really dive in. Communication can be hard at first but when you get the place, when you understand the people and how it works it's just a pure blast. Just the hostel in itself is an amazing place, and one that gather amazing people. The perfect placement of Sofia brings travellers who are crossing from Europe to Asia/Asia to Europe, people who are working in the area, weekend tourist, people from all around the world travelling Europe. And the hostel brings the perfect atmosphere to just share stories, laughs and moments with these people. I had the chance to do a bit of everything, starting from cleaning the toilets and showers to helping at the reception, to taking the lead on the pub crawls. This helped to make everyweek different from the last. It's dumb to say but I learned a lot about myself and what I want to bring to the world thanks to this experience and the people I met there. It really ended up as a new home. So thanks again for everything, I'll definitly be back someday to renew the experience!

Although the guys have left us without saying goodbye (which is very unusual and impolite), would we like to thanks you guys for the work you have done. Franc and Marco

Seriana and Fabian stayed with me for two and a half weeks, and they were an absolute pleasure to host. They helped with general maintenance around the house and worked hard to get everything ready for winter. They were reliable, practical, and not afraid to take initiative — truly very handy and capable. They approached every task with a positive attitude and were always willing to help. Their kindness, friendliness, and easygoing nature made the whole experience enjoyable. It was wonderful to share meals, stories, and reindeer experiences with them, and I’m very happy they got to learn more about life up north. I can highly recommend Seriana and Fabian to any future host. You are both welcome back anytime!

We have been really lucky for the fantastic help that Erika gave us during her staying! Very energetic and handiwork girl, she helped both with the olive harvest and the garden maintenance. Determined and motivated to break the record every time we were filling the bins with olives she has been working autonomously and efficiently since the beginning! Definitely a pleasant company and an amazing help! Thank you Erika!!!

I loved staying in this house! Niall and Maya are incredibly friendly, and I spent my days with the cats — Mamo, Winston, and the four adorable kittens. They all loved sitting on my lap, although Mamo, the matriarch, definitely preferred having the lap all to herself! The place is truly a dream: beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by long scenic walks. On rainy days, I enjoyed staying cozy inside and watching the kittens play. This was my very first Workaway experience, and it honestly couldn’t have been better.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better. The hostel provides everything you might need, and Sara, the manager, is always available and ready to help. The tasks require some focus, but they’re enjoyable and never really feel like “work.” The compensation is fair for the tasks required, and everything is explained clearly at the beginning through a proper contract. The hostel is near the airport but it's well connected to the city center and the beaches . You’ll meet people coming and going from the hostel every day, and their stories will definitely enrich your experience. Sara is always supportive and makes sure everything is explained clearly from day one. You’ll receive papers with all the information you need, and training is also provided by the Workawayer who was there before you. The hostel is beautiful, welcoming, cozy, and truly a great place to stay. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I had the most lovely time volunteering for Hanna and Thibaut this past October! What initially motivated me to volunteer was a desire to learn more about permaculture and deepen my spirituality. But I left with far more meaningful lessons, experiences, and connections than I ever expected. Throughout my stay, Hanna and Thibaut made such a genuine effort to get to know us volunteers, make us feel welcome, and include us in the many events happening at the temple. I was able to attend beautiful Kirtans, holy celebrations, and yoga sessions that held such deep meaning for me. The work itself was very manageable, and we always ended up having the most heartfelt conversations while weeding or planting. And every so often, Hanna and Thibaut would show up with teas and treats—truly some of the most considerate, thoughtful people ever 💗. They also went above and beyond with small gestures that made such a difference in my stay—like letting me borrow warm clothes when I needed them, and letting me use Hanna’s hotspot when I had an important online appointment. Their kindness and care were felt every single day. I couldn’t recommend this place more. The community is incredibly inclusive and warm, the work is both educational and enjoyable, and there was always something happening to keep life interesting and engaging. And the food was so bomb—you will be SO well fed here!! Thank you for everything, Hanna and Thibaut. I'm so grateful for the beautiful impression this experience left on my heart. I hope to return sometime in the future 🤍!

The time we spent at Emily's was truly wonderful. She is a very open person who realy makes an effort to make you feel comfortable and feel like home. Besides Emily there are also five very cute dogs living in the house. All with there own character and all of them eager to hug and play (watch out: you will fall in love with them!) The apartment is all a workawayer could wish for. A big bedroom, an own bathroom and kitchen, everything is there. Although we had a place for ourselves, we did spent quite some hours in the livingroom together to share food and stories. We had a big job to do: painting outer walls of house/pool place. Emily was very chill to let us decide the schedule. As Emily also works online, you find yourself having some me-time during the day and evening. If you are a person who likes to work with a schedule, we would recommend to plan the day together with her. The weekends are off, but we also spent a nice Wednesday at a beautiful beach nearby, walking with the dogs and looking for flamingos! Thank you for this experience Emily and a big hug to Django, Joy, Mali, Kimber and Neliah!

I stayed with the family for three weeks and it was truly amazing! From the moment I arrived, the kids gave me a tour around their house and the farm, which was so exciting. My main jobs were helping with their homeschooling and the group lessons. It was so much fun, and I felt really lucky to be able to join the lessons as well. It was also interesting for me to learn how Candace manages and plans all the activities, especially since I had similar experiences in my previous job. They even trusted me with leading one of the workshops, which I really enjoyed. I felt confident doing it because Candace always made sure I had everything I needed and was fully prepared. I also did some weeding and gardening, which I found really joyful. Since it was my first time staying on a farm, it was such a precious opportunity to learn how they care for the animals. I learned firsthand what it truly means to receive life from animals, and that lesson is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Everyone I met there was just so wonderful, and I’m so grateful I was able to spend time with them.

I stayed at Yolanda’s place for three weeks, and it was truly one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had! ✨ From the very first day, I felt like a real member of the family. ❤️ The work was enjoyable and easy to manage — helping with home chores, gardening, cooking for Hugo and Sara, playing games with Hugo, and practicing English with the children, feeding animals. 🏡🌿🎨 It was my first time in Spain, and Yolanda and her beautiful family made it unforgettable. One of the highlights was our lovely dinner night with her friends, where I prepared a traditional Serbian meal with dessert — such a warm and joyful evening! 🍽️🇷🇸 We also went on several day trips that I truly loved. Nearby, there is a stunning forest hiking path, which I explored a few times with their sweet dog Milou. 🌲🐶 From the first day until the very last, I genuinely enjoyed every moment of my stay. Next year, I’m definitely coming back! 🌟 Thank you, Yolanda, for giving me the opportunity to experience real Spanish culture, so much laughter, and countless beautiful stories. ❤️🙏🇪🇸

Erik is a top guy—one of those people you immediately know will go far in life and build many great relationships along the way. He stayed with us for 12 days and was an enormous help in caring for our laying hens and young chicks. We currently have two batches we’re hand-raising, which requires a lot of delicate handling, and Erik was consistently patient, gentle, and attentive with the birds. During his stay, he also did a great deal of line trimming, for which we are very grateful—especially as it meant working through some hotter-than-usual spring days. He also happily turned over a large garden bed and hauled in various composting ingredients without hesitation. We found Erik to be open, easy to talk to, and a genuinely great communicator. He blended into our family environment exceptionally well and was always respectful of how we like to run our home. He’s not a picky eater and was always appreciative of the meals we prepared. We loved his willingness to try anything and his calm trust that things would work out. In summary, he’s a lovely, genuine young man with an excellent work ethic and a strong drive to experience life. Although he’s on the younger end of Workawayers, I can highly recommend him to other hosts.

We enjoyed a really beautiful time at Mary-Jeanne's place in Patras. We helped in her magical garden with some general maintenance, comprising various tasks, which we enjoyed. We are very happy for these memories and can recommend this place for other workawayers. Especially those evenings in the backyard we will miss. Thx MJ.

Magnus and Cedella volunteered at for 20 days, and we were very happy to host them. During their stay, they both made a strong contribution to the center by helping with German and Spanish classes, bringing not only their language skills but also patience, clarity, and a very positive attitude to every lesson. Our students enjoyed learning with them and felt comfortable and motivated in their classes. Beyond teaching, Magnus and Cedella were also actively involved in the rooftop project, always ready to help with practical tasks and to offer ideas to improve the space. They were responsible, respectful, and easy to communicate with, and they integrated very well into the team and local community. We truly appreciated their commitment and kindness, and we would gladly host them again in the future. We highly recommend Magnus and Cedella to any host looking for reliable, hard-working, and friendly volunteers.

I loved my time at Alexis' place and could have happily stayed a few more weeks. This is an opportunity not to be slept on if you have any interest in learning to build with earth or if you just want to experience a simple, slow-paced life surrounded by beautiful nature. Alexis is a great teacher who loves to share his knowledge. He made an effort to show us different skills and procedures so we could learn as much as possible. He's a kind, super easy-going guy who's a lot of fun to be around. I highly recommend you come pay him a visit! A few things to know before you go: - Bring cash. You'll need it and the only place to get it in town is a shop that charges a 10% fee. -Don't expect to have much online connection. There's no internet and barely cell service. However, you can go up to town if you want to have some connection and charge your devices. - Be prepared for a workout. Alexis lives at the bottom of a valley below the town so a vigorous uphill hike awaits you when you need to get groceries or do anything in town.
