I had a wonderful experience during my three weeks with the organization. From the very first day, I always felt welcomed and comfortable. Mama Jessica was always there for us with anything we needed, and she is truly a beautiful person, both kind and supportive. All the members of the organization were always there for any kind of help and made our stay meaningful. These weeks will remain a very special memory for me. I also want to give special appreciation to the teachers in the schools, who were always eager to learn new games and teaching methods to use with the children. The kids themselves were so inspiring and working with them was such a joy and an unforgettable experience. I am deeply grateful for everything I learned here, for the warm atmosphere, and for all the wonderful people I had the chance to meet. I truly hope to come back one day.

My friend Phoebe and I stayed with Morgan, Giorgia, their son Dylan and friend group including Rosario, Tano, Alessandro, Rhiannon at the meeting ground of their big family (Morgan and Giorgia's house). From the moment we arrived, we felt instantly at home. The atmosphere was very relaxed and everyone was very open and friendly. Apart from a rest day and a night spent at their countryside house, the routine consisted of free coffee and breakfast, then helping with house duties, such as cleaning dishes and tidying, then a delicious lunch and later, dinner prepared by Giorgia. These home cooked meals were not only special because of how good they tasted, but because of how we ate them. I loved the routine of talking before and after sharing a meal with the people in this group. The night would often end with guitar and drumming sessions with Alessandro and Rosario and the rest of us sitting around them, sometimes joining in. Overall, the work was very chill and I’m really glad to have met these people.

My experience with Christine and Joachim was wonderful. Through a video call we agreed that one month of volunteering would be enough time for me to integrate into their daily life, and that was indeed the case. I learned a lot from both of them, not only from the daily tasks of construction and caring for the goats, but also from their personalities. They are very kind, and I always felt well integrated, while also learning a bit about German culture. They are tireless workers, yet they know how to value rest and breaks; likewise, they always respected the agreed working hours and days per week. I could always count on their support in my plans to explore the region and visit other places during the weekends. I fondly remember the interesting conversations we had. It is also nice to know that the exchange was reciprocal, and I was able to share a bit of Latin culture, mainly through music, dance (and some cooking). I was very happy to see that Christine and Joachim, together with their daughter and granddaughter, were open to discovering and experiencing a small part of my culture.

Christof stayed with our family in June 2024 for 17 days and brought with him a kind and generous presence. He was genuinely interested in learning about rural Sri Lankan life and adapted well to the simplicity of the environment. His willingness to help and his respectful attitude toward our family and lifestyle were very much appreciated. He stayed at our family home in Thanamalwila, which is located in a peaceful, quiet area near nature. Even though communication was sometimes a challenge, we managed quite well — and Christof was always patient and open-minded. One note of clarification: a mention of money in his review unfortunately led to a misunderstanding with the Workaway platform, and we were at risk of losing our profile. We want to make it clear that we never asked for or accepted any money. Hosting is something we do wholeheartedly and in the spirit of cultural exchange. Despite the small challenges that naturally come with cross-cultural volunteering, it was a pleasure to host Christof. We’re grateful for the time he spent with us and wish him safe and enriching travels ahead. He is welcome back anytime. With metta, Bhante Kusala, Sepala, and family

Hosting Kristýna was truly a blessing for us and the children. She is full of kindness, energy, and positivity, and from the very first day she fit right in. The kids adored her, and she gave them not only her time but also her heart. On her second visit, it was so touching to see how excited the children were to meet her again, a true sign of the bond she created with them. She was always ready to help, respectful, and very responsible – a joy to have around. We deeply appreciate everything she did for the school and community, and we’d welcome her back anytime. Any host who gets the chance to meet Kristýna will be very lucky!

This feedback was long overdue. We were lucky to have the pleasure of hosting Isaac. His disposition and work ethics are so mature for his age. He was hardworking, always showed up for work and has a pleasant personality. Isaac will always be welcome at our place. We wish him the very best.

We had the pleasure of hosting Jan Omar and his time with us was truly valuable. He was very dedicated in teaching the children, engaging them with patience and creativity. Alongside this, he also used his technical and artistic skills to design and build a website for our project, which has been a huge contribution to our visibility and future growth. He showed a great spirit of cultural mindfulness, respect, and willingness to learn from the community. We highly recommend him to any future host and would be happy to welcome him back anytime.

Tom and I spent two wonderful weeks with John and Aslı within their serenely beautiful sanctuary. From the moment we arrived we were met with a sense of peace, quiet and harmony which we greatly appreciated. There is a lot of love, care and hard work that has gone into creating this spectacular homestead and we felt lucky to be a part of it for the two weeks that we were there. We worked for roughly three hours in the morning where the work was a little more physical: digging holes for banana trees, building stone walls/barriers. That was then followed by a hefty break for eating, swimming, studying, reading, whatever you like to do really, then the workday was finished with a couple of hours of light work: planting a variety of seeds and seedlings, watering in the evening. The schedule was incredibly fair, and the break gave us both plenty of time to rest, relax, and even be productive (which as a procrastinator is quite the feat, thanks John for all the teaching advice!) John was always working alongside us, so it never felt monotonous, we felt as if we were part of a team rather than as workawayers with delegated tasks. We really enjoyed finishing the evening off with an incredible meal prepared by Aslı, vegetarian feasts with a Turkish twist that were always colourful, flavourful and impossible not to have seconds of. We loved the little family of four cats that hung around the porch in the evenings, we loved having a wee cuddle with Kismet while watching a film, the many frogs, the tortoise who appeared in the pool, the cows on their afternoon stroll in the next field, even the badger that continues to break in under the fence line has a place in our hearts. It would be remiss not to treat this place with the same care and attention that has been John and Aslı have clearly dedicated to it. So, if you have the opportunity to go here, enjoy it, appreciate it, respect it. You won't want to leave! (P.S. thank you for showing us Priscilla Queen of the Desert, iconic!)

I had such a nice time staying with Sandra! She is incredibly kind, welcoming, and easy-going, which made everything feel very relaxed right from the start. Even though we arrived as two people, she had no hesitation in taking us in and made us feel at home immediately. The work was always fair and never too much – Sandra really paid attention to making sure we were comfortable. Most of our tasks were gardening and weeding, which I actually found enjoyable and satisfying. Her animals are absolutely lovely – the cats, the sheep, and the chickens added so much charm to the whole experience. The surroundings are also stunning, which made my stay even more special. On top of that, the food she cooked for us was delicious! Overall, I truly appreciated the time I could spend there. It was a warm, rewarding, and memorable experience, and I’m really thankful for Sandra’s hospitality.

I had an amazing time with Meri and Frederik! They were welcoming, generous, friendly and took me to discover the cool places in the local area. The dogs were also very very friendly too! For work I did some horse field shovelling, ditch shovelling and a few other little bits and pieces, but it was all simple and relaxed with no pressure. Meri and Frederik were very generous with their time too, inviting me out to do Finnish things, like dog walking, forest walking, berry picking, fishing, and we even visited an island for a beach bbq! It was exactly what I'd hoped a countryside living experience would be! Thank you again for everything Meri and Frederik, I hope everything is going well and that all the dogs, horses, chickens, rabbits, snake, etc are all happy and healthy!

I stayed at this beautiful waterfront home for a week. Ana and Sean are truly wonderful—they helped me with my English, showed me the island’s stunning scenery, and even took me out on their boat. I had so many first-time experiences, and it became a truly valuable week for me. I wish them both all the best.

Anna and Ari brought so much joy and light into our home. They jumped right into this year’s potato harvest—cutting and transporting grass to prepare the land surface, digging up potatoes, carrying, and sorting them—a task that’s anything but easy... especially for the ESQUENA! We’re so grateful for the hard work you approached each day with such bright smiles, and for sharing stories of your adventures from around the world. Beyond the fields, they also helped with preparing dinners, cleaning, and even separating szechuan peppercorns and seeds... tackling every task, big or small, with such enthusiasm and care. Thank you, too, for showering our animals with so much love. It’s been such a joy to continue seeing your beautiful photos, videos, and reflections on your time here with us on your instagram. You are always welcome back! फेरि भेटौँला <3

I stayed at Claudine's place from September 7th to 14th, 2025, and had a wonderful time. The place is beautiful, and the atmosphere is one of calm and lush natural beauty. There are plenty of spots to practice the art of slowing down, in tune with the rhythms of nature. The description provides a lot of information on how things work, but once you enter through the gate, you realize how little city life aligns with eco-friendly living. Within the eco-village, there are precise rules to avoid waste and minimize environmental impact, and seeing them in practice is very instructive. I slept in a tent and one night in a bungalow (fantastic!). The daily work was intense but rewarding. Claudine explained the techniques with great care, adding helpful tips and even some yogic suggestions. I learned something new every day. I really appreciated the trust she placed in me and her feedback, which made me feel valued and special. There are communal areas, like the outdoor kitchen, yoga deck and the fire circle, where you meet many people from all over the world. ps: Anyway, in the end all the roosters were safely caught. 😄

I stayed here for two weeks and it was truly an amazing time. Everybody there was very nice, I felt welcomed from the beginning and really enjoyed the time there. You get to know many people, locals and travellers through the events that are there and the general hostel life. I got to know many new cooking experiences and also could bake in the kitchen what I want for the breakfast cakes, which I really enjoyed. You get a view into the local life, how to work in a hostel and it never gets boring there for sure. We grew together like a second family and I really felt home and comfortable there. I only can recommend this host to any other workaway. I will for sure return someday!

Kelly and Gabriel spend a short time with us, but they did a great job cleaning and organizing the house, and clearing up the forest to allow our oak trees to grow. They're very friendly and easy going and I'm looking forward to hosting them again. Bom caminho!

I spent almost 2 weeks with the lovely Ellie. She mostly helped me with the land fencing and was very serious and meticulous with the work. She is discreet, respectful and the moments we spent together where nice moments of exchange. She liked to take walks in the forest with my dog Avaï, which also helped me! Thank you for everything and have a great trip :)

Mily is an absolute gem of a person.. warm, creative, and full of initiative. From the moment she arrived, she fit in effortlessly and brought such a lovely energy to our home. She’s incredibly kind and thoughtful, with a natural ability to connect with people (and dogs!). Mily is wonderfully independent and proactive .. she quickly established her own routine, including early morning dog walks that set a great tone for the day. She was always happy to help out around the house and did every task with care and enthusiasm. Her creativity really shines through in her photography and digital skills. She worked alongside me at a festival and was a fantastic support — reliable, professional, and a genuine team player. Mily has a great eye for detail and a quiet confidence that makes her a pleasure to work with. She made a wonderful connection with our daughter, filling the house with laughter and positivity. It was easy to trust her completely — whether helping at home or minding our daughter, and that peace of mind meant so much. Mily also embraced her time in Ireland wholeheartedly, taking every opportunity to travel, explore, and experience the culture. She is curious, open-minded, and has such a bright, adventurous spirit. We feel very lucky to have met her. Any host would be fortunate to welcome Mily, she’s a caring, capable, and genuinely lovely person who leaves a lasting impression wherever she goes.
