Hi, I'm Melinda! A backpacker from New Zealand with a passion for new experiences. I love taking the less traveled route and spending several weeks really getting to know a place.
A few things I enjoy on my travels are hiking, swimming, tasty new food and live music. I'm looking for unique experiences and the chance to meet and connect with vibrant, interesting people.
I am a big nature lover and have an interest in eco-friendly and sustainable ways of living and would love to learn from folks who make these values part of their day-to-day.
I have also had great experiences working in hostels in the past and am very interested in doing this sort of workaway again. From October 2017 till September 2018 I volunteered in a hostel in Edinburgh, Scotland. I started in the housekeeping team before moving to reception. I also ran our weekly Pub Crawl and helped with our other guest activities. Working in a busy hostel means no two days are the same and I'm just as comfortable giving guests a dinner recommendation as I am picking up a screwdriver and tackling a loose cupboard!
In 2018 I also spent an incredible month in the Canary Islands in a small surf hostel cleaning and working reception.
