Bei Mechthild war ich aus persönlichen Gründen leider nur 12 Tage und aus jetziger Sicht finde ich das sehr schade, denn es hat Spass gemacht mit ihr und bei ihr zu arbeiten. Mechthild hat immer mit mir zusammen gearbeitet und das ist für mich ein Herausstellungsmerkmal im Vergleich zu anderen Workaway Stellen. So waren wir immer im direkten Austausch, sind sehr gut und schnell vorangekommen, haben viel gelacht und die Zeit ist verflogen. In ihrem Haushalt und Garten gibt es für jede Tätigkeit das passende Werkzeug, und sie besitzt sogar 1 kleinen Traktor und 2 Anhänger. Und sie hatte für Jede von uns 1 Blaumann für schmutzige Arbeiten und das Teil zu tragen hat sich richtig gut angefühlt. Wenn wir Dinge zum Wertstoffhof gebracht haben, haben die Nutzer dort uns für Mitarbeiterinnen gehalten. Für mich angenehm war auch zu erleben, dass Mechthild, wenn wir miteinander Themen ansprachen, bei denen wir komplett anderer Meinung waren, einander entspannt anhören konnten ohne dass Eine von uns unbedingt recht haben wollte. Besonders schön war auch der Spieleabend mit ihren Freundinnen - völlig entspannt und einander helfend. Ich war die erste Workaway-erin für Mechthild, und habe schon viele Host’s erlebt, und selten war es so unkompliziert wie bei ihr. Sie war gut vorbereitet auf mich, denn sie wusste genau, was alles erledigt werden sollte, sie hatte immer einen wohlwollenden wertschätzenden Umgangston mit mir, sie konnte gut damit umgehen, wenn ich Dinge auch mal anders angehen wollte, als sie es vorgeschlagen hatte. Sie hat auch immer mit darauf geachtet, dass ich nicht zuviele Stunden arbeite. Es war ein ausgewogenes Geben und Nehmen - Vielen Dank liebe Mechthild

The experience was extremely interesting. The children were very friendly, as were many of the staff members. The goal was to communicate as much as possible with the childrens to teach them English: we had a lot of freedom, we could go from one tapchan (day camp) to another as we pleased, depending on our interest in the different activities. We were free to move around as we pleased, and the same was true in terms of our work, although we did have certain obligations. Special mention to the meal, all-you-can-eat service, that's a nice touch. All the activities offered are really enjoyable, thanks to the team leaders. You still need to find your place, as you won't be officially introduced to the rest of the team or the children, so you won't be integrated from day one. Since the team leaders and administration are very busy, it's up to us to integrate, and you might feel a bit left out at first. It was therefore up to us to approach the teams and tell them we wanted to participate in their activities. I already miss it, and I'd love to come back for another season. We had so much fun. Special mention to Abbos, who was fantastic, a really nice person who's great fun to be around, thank you!

I spent a month with Kaitlyn and Tom, it was a wonderful experience. The time we spent together, our conversations, and everything they taught me were extraordinary. I had an amazing peaceful time in the garden of hayet, delicious foods cooked by her or her husband, the amount of love to exchange with animals around is not something I can describe by words. The blue house was such a comfortable place, the pure sound of nature was all you could hear, birds singing was my morning alarm and having my coffee while peacocks were dancing in front of me! working in the garden with the accompany of cats was the cherry on top of the cake for me! would love to visit this beautiful place and beautiful Hayet again 🤍

I stayed a fortnight at Bettina´s place in June 26. I had a nice, quiet room with a comfy bed, a table ... and a big bathroom where I could do my stuff in peace. Bettina is a lovely, sociable woman with a big smile. She explained clearly and concisely what needed to be done in the big, wonderful garden or in the house. That made it easy for me to fill the six-hour working day in my own way and get all the jobs done. We took turns cooking. There was always delicious food with plenty of greens from the garden. Pit the tomcat needed to be fed by me now and then and let me know when he wanted to be stroked and cuddled. The area is very beautiful. There are plenty of walking trails starting right from the house. The small town of Hessisch Oldendorf has all the shops you could need. Hamelin has a wonderful old town. So it was easy for me to explore the area on my days off Thanks Bettina for the good time See you again. Heidi

Everybody is an artist but Migle is more than an artist :) Migle is a determined, focus oriented and with a great artistic soul lady. She also loves animal and during the time she spent at the farm, noy only took care of my animals but also rescued some puppies were abandoned in the property. She is precise in doing all the tasks required, really curious, asking lots of questions, sometimes too many :)) The beauty of workaway for me is the proper cultural exchange that lets you grow but also it gives the possibility to make personal and hidden skills to express themselves and I found Migle has an incredible sense of the art and during that time she produced different pieces of art for which I am grateful and I appreciate them. Thank you!! Hosting Migle is to host a talented artist that will surprise you!

Lea stayed with us for just over a week, but we could already see a clear difference in our garden after her stay! She helped with weeding, preparing garden beds, planting, watering, and more. After finishing each task, Lea always left the workspace neat and tidy. She also came up with her own ideas for improvements, which we really appreciated. As a wonderful keepsake, she left us a beautiful hand-drawn illustration of our little tractor. On top of that, Lea cooked some delicious vegetarian meals, and we enjoyed great conversations over dinner. Communication with her was always easy. We can absolutely recommend Lea to any future host. Thank you so much, Lea!

This was my very first Workaway experience and honestly, I don’t think I could have asked for a better introduction to this beautiful community. From the moment I arrived, Ray and Ute made me feel like family. Their home is not just a place to stay, it is a place filled with warmth, kindness, laughter, wisdom, and a deep sense of peace. I arrived as a volunteer and left feeling like I had found another home. The work was varied and enjoyable. I helped with gardening, transplanting plants, deadheading flowers, weeding, kitchen work, preparing an Indian dinner for the family, and many outdoor projects with Ray like logging, splitting wood, fencing, and cutting blueberry bushes. They always worked alongside me and patiently taught me new things. It never felt like work being assigned. It felt like teamwork. One of the most special parts of my stay was learning crochet from Uta. She wasn’t just teaching me a craft, she was curious about my life as an artist and kept asking how I could incorporate crochet into my art practice. That thoughtfulness meant so much to me. She is gentle, creative, incredibly patient, and has a wonderful sense of humour and a heart of gold. We shared many laughs together, whether while working in the garden, solving puzzles, or simply talking about life. And Ray… where do I begin? He is full of joy, stories, songs, gratitude, and apparently endless baking talent! There was always music, humour, and kindness around him. We had many late-night conversations about life and shared so many laughs. I was spoiled with homemade cakes, pastries, and baked treats throughout my stay. He even taught me how to bake my very first plum cake, and before I left, they lovingly packed one of the cakes I had baked for my journey back. It was such a sweet gesture and one of those memories I know I will cherish forever. Their generosity extended far beyond the house. They introduced me to their children and grandchildren, included me in family gatherings, took me to local events, hikes, and outings, and gave me a genuine glimpse into life in Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. I played board games and puzzles, met their friends, explored beautiful places, and experienced so many things for the first time. What touched me the most was the atmosphere they have created. Their home feels calm, safe, and healing. Every day began with gratitude and ended with gratitude. There was a beautiful simplicity to life there, shared meals, meaningful conversations, working with the land, laughter, and a genuine appreciation for life’s small moments. I also learned so much wisdom from both of them. Their kindness, openness, and way of looking at life have stayed with me long after leaving. They showed me that growing older can mean growing softer, wiser, more joyful, and more generous. If you are looking for hosts who are kind, thoughtful, wise, playful, and genuinely care about the people who come into their lives, I cannot recommend Ray and Ute enough. We had a truly memorable time with Geraldine in her little mountain paradise. She has a big heart, a great sense of humour, and has a thirst for life. Geraldine is very social and we had a lot of fun with her, another workawayer and all of Geraldine's friends. Not forgetting her fur and feather babies. It was a pleasure to take the Luna and Guinness for their daily walks and chat with Paco - the gin drinking parrot. Guinness is a super cuddly dog and he kept me company while I was working on my computer. We fell in love with the area, if you're active and outdoorsy you'll have a great time. There are so many beautiful hikes, you can cycle, swim in the lake and there's a Via ferrata that is in walking distance of Geraldine's chalet. We already miss our aperos, chatting away and watching the incredible views of Mont Blanc from her place. For the work, Geraldine is laid back, and you'll need to use your initiative to help her out and contribute. We supported with walking the dogs, cleaning, cooking, putting up a fence in the garden, potting plants and tidying up the spaces and Kevin assisted with some translating. I feel like I learnt so many life lessons from our time with her and she has so many interesting stories to tell. Big hugs Ger bear, to you and to Declan and hope to see you again!!

Queridos Martine y Jean, queremos expresar nuestro mas sincero agradecimiento, por los días que nos permitieron compartir sus Vidas. Para nosotros era un desafío al que nos costo animarnos....y fue una Experiencia mas que Maravillosa. Conocimos a dos seres Hermosos, con amabilidad y respeto, que se supieron brindar inmediatamente. Una experiencia inmejorable. Pasé el mes de agosto con Monique y su familia, y la experiencia fue tan positiva que volví de nuevo en abril durante una semana. Son una familia encantadora y Monique es una anfitriona excepcional, además de una excelente cocinera. Siempre me hizo sentir como en casa y me ayudó mucho con mi aprendizaje del francés, que era uno de mis principales objetivos al venir a Francia. Las tareas son variadas, entretenidas y están muy bien organizadas. Además, el alojamiento es fantástico y siempre dispones de tiempo libre y de la privacidad necesaria para disfrutar de la experiencia a tu ritmo. Me llevo muy buenos recuerdos de mi estancia y también una bonita amistad. Sin duda, si no se han cansado todavía de mí, ¡volveré encantado! Muchas gracias por todo.

This was my first workaway experience and I would like to write this review for the first-time workawayers of the website. I've been a scout for all of my childhood and I am used to travelling, but I was very nervous at the thought of being in a stranger's house, far away from home. This is to say that safety for me is most important and my trust is not easily gained. I felt safe with Nico. We were welcomed into his life at a very difficult time for him, big life changes, a lot of pressure and he had to deal with unfriendly people and not kind behaviours from them, even so, in the 21 days I stayed with him, even if all of this was inevitably going on around us, he did a wonderful, amazing job at not letting it touch us at all. I must specify, that we did not stay in the accommodation that is listed and that other volunteers before us stayed at, because a week before I got on my flight he had to leave the property and instead of cancelling on us last minute, he offered us to stay in his own home (which I really appreciated). Food was not included for us, but the hours were just 15 in exchange. This experience was wonderful, the work load was precise (exactly the amount of hours we agreed on every week), light, but always changing depending on what he needed, so that's the "flexibility" he might ask of you. Main tasks for us had to do with BnB cleaning, dog sitting, house sitting, moving forniture and organising garden sales. I also helped a bit with social media and graphic skills. He encouraged us to always ask for breaks when we needed, to communicate if a task was too hard for us or if we preferred doing something different instead. Anything we weren't comfortable with, he was always open to listen. Communicating with Nico is very easy, he's very clear and welcomes you to be just as clear as he is. He even allowed us to take our 2 days off to explore the island, on a day he had really urgent tasks to take care of and that was something I really appreciated. Even when (as humans do) there were disagreements or moments of strong emotions on either side, he is the type of person to text back at the end of the day and open a kind dialogue to understand and excuse each other. What else? Hufa is the kindest, quirkiest soul ever, it was a pleasure sharing a home with her, a very kind and loving black kitty might or might not pass by when you're there (if you see her, give her lots of love for me), the area we stayed at was wonderful, we had plenty of time off to enjoy the beach, we learned how to surf and Nico did give us pointers about it. Nico is very excited about sharing any cool places or cool people he knows, so if you are kind I'm sure he'll take you to see many once-in-a-lifetime things and people. The island itself is nice, I'd advise you to talk with anyone you meet and truly keep an open mind, I feel that's the best way to fully receive an experience like this. I left some friends over there, I hope to see them soon, I wish Canti a good life and hope to travel with Alicia again before the autumn. Tenerife, you were not what I expected, but just what I needed.

Nous avons reçu Auke un peu moins d’une semaine, c’est donc un avis sur un temps assez court ! Cependant, nous avons remarqué qu’elle était très efficace dans sa manière de travailler : wow, quelle efficience, pugnacité et rapidité ! Ensemble, nous avons surtout fait du jardin (désherbage, plantation…). Nous avons aussi partagé de bons moments de sport ensemble et de jolies discussions. La communication avant le Workaway a été un peu difficile parfois (changement de dates, doutes, difficulté à être au téléphone) mais une fois sur place, je crois que nous nous sommes bien entendus :) Auke, nous te souhaitons de belles futures aventures 🌎💐 tu seras toujours bienvenue chez nous !

Carmen fue una voluntaria excelente durante su estancia con nosotros. Siempre mostró una actitud muy colaboradora, atenta y empática con todo el equipo y nuestros visitantes. Nos ayudó muchísimo con las traducciones y la comunicación con los clientes, haciendo que se sintieran bien informados y acompañados en todo momento. Además de su apoyo con los idiomas, siempre estuvo siempre dispuesta a ayudar con las labores del restaurante cuando era necesario. Su carisma, energía positiva y su facilidad para sacar una sonrisa hicieron una diferencia muy bonita en el ambiente de trabajo. Agradecemos mucho todo el apoyo, compromiso y dedicación que nos brindó durante su tiempo aquí. Sam es un chico muy divertido y trabajador, nos ayudó mucho en el campo y en la cocina, el es muy alto y muy fuerte, nos ayudó mucho cargando el maíz y en casa también. Lo recomendamos mucho ya que es muy divertido y además siempre cuido mucho a nuestra perrita Valentina

Overall, I had a positive experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time here. The place is very rustic and not for everyone, as it requires a strong spirit of adaptation and a genuine love for animals. For me, one of the most challenging aspects was getting used to having many animals sharing the kitchen and common living spaces. The workload also varied depending on how many volunteers were present, but in my experience the daily tasks often took longer than I expected. This place has its own charm, and the animals are truly special and will stay in my heart. I also really appreciated the sense of community that naturally formed among the volunteers, which made the experience more enjoyable and supportive. At the same time, the environment can be quite overwhelming when you first arrive. My main difficulty during the stay was a lack of respectful and constructive communication with the person managing the sanctuary at the time of my visit, as well as a general sense of disorganization. Feedback was often delivered in a very stressful and confrontational manner, sometimes through raised voices, which made constructive conversations difficult. I understand that managing animals, volunteers, and daily responsibilities can be demanding, but this really affected my overall experience. Despite the challenges, I am thankful for the experience and for the time spent with the animals and the people I met along the way.

I can describe that experience as one and only 😊 I mean, It was really great ! I had the opportunity to stay in a remote and peaceful place, surrounded by true nature, with very little human presence. I also enjoyed the company of the people and animals living here (cats, dogs, and chickens). This unique place attracts a certain type of person who seeks mindfulness, spiritual experiences, and is open to growth and self-improvement. That's why I met so many fantastic people throughout my stay. The hosts are very interesting and super friendly. They are both very hard-working and expect the same from their guests. The meals were always fresh, delicious, rich in protein, and varied. However, be prepared to eat twice a day (you can get used to it, or bring something to snack on throughout the day). When choosing this place, it's important to be open to new experiences, flexible with your time and tasks, and remember that good communication and feedback are very important.
