I live on 10 acres of natural wilderness forest sanctuary 5 minutes from the village of Lund, B.C., Canada, doorstep to Desolation Sound. It's a special area of the B.C. Coast, as yet undiscovered by swarms of tourists. You can access the Sunshine Coast Trail from this property. There are many hiking areas, kayaking in Desolation Sound, lots of lakes, wildlife and natural fauna. This chunk of forest has never been clearcut logged. Approx 150 yrs ago many of the old growth trees were logged by hand and taken out by horses. The land itself has never been disturbed. My home was built using milled lumber from the trees on the property. I have been living here for nearly 30 years. I am 79 yrs old, in good health but do not have the energy of 30 years ago. There is a lot of upkeep work, gardening and maintaining I could use help with. The community of Lund is about 1,000 people, the village itself is small. One grocery store, post office, hotel, coffee shop and restaurant. The Lund Hotel, Grocery store and land around it is owned by the Tla'Amin First Nation. Savary Island is a 15 min water taxi ride from Lund. It boasts white sandy beaches and is only accessible by boat or small plane. In 2024 a new community centre is scheduled to be built in Lund, attached to the school. Something Lund residents have long awaited and look forward to with great anticipation.
Cannot accept anyone who smokes cigarettes as I am allergic to tobacco smoke, even the smell of it on clothing is a trigger.

During the winter months Nov -Mar/Apr 2025 I need help around the house, sorting and getting rid of stuff from my basement general maintenance on the property, weather permitting. Also, firewood, stacking and keeping woodstove going. Shoveling snow when required. Indoor diy projects.

Summer 2025 weedeating, firewood, garden and house maintenance.
If you come here as a workaway person I expect you to work 5 hrs a day with 2 days off in a week. I am flexible as far as scheduling work hours and time off. Prefer to discuss options and preferences as well as skills. A lot of the work is physical and requires strength and stamina. A person who is self-motivated regarding projects and has the ability to work independently is a good fit for me.
re; meals. I will provide basic food provisions for all meals. I expect you to feed yourself for breakfast and lunch. Cooking dinner will be a task we will discuss and share.

We stayed at Roisin’s for close to three months. When we first read about the place, we had high hopes for our stay. We did not get disappointed. The location is beautiful, it is in the middle of a forest with a small pond and a lot of room to explore. It is perfect for anyone who wants to take a break from the big city. We are glad that we had Roisin as our host. She is a wonderful person who had reasonable requests and an open mind. She is easy to talk to and very flexible with what kind of work needs to be done. It felt like living with a family member. There have been a couple of tasks prepared and once we finished them, we were able to decide ourselves what we want to do next. The best part about the whole journey were her dogs. Tawla, Taspy and Shukra are loving and very active dogs. A lot of the day can be spent with taking care of them. They love everyone and are always happy to meet new people. Once you arrive, you will fall in love with them immediately. We really recommend visiting and working for Roisin! It is a worthwhile experience, and you will not regret it. We will treasure our time spend with her and her family. Jamie and KevinTipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

For someone living in a urban area and wishing to experience the wilderness, this is an ideal place. The property I live on is 'tenants-in-common' which means it is a 45 acre chunk of forest that is owned by 6 different families. We each have our own surveyed piece of land and a committment to NO clearcut logging. On my 10 acre piece there is an eco sensitive area of peat bog. Since development is minimal it is an opportunity to stay in the forest almost as it has been forever with an endless list of outdoor experiences. We are privileged to share our area with local wildlife. Black bears, cougars, many species of birds including bald eagles and owls, ravens. The main village of Lund is owned by the Tla'Amin First Nation. They are in the process of developing First Natons tourism in their indigenous home. In the ocean close by there are Orca and Basking Whales, Dolphins, Sea Lions, Seals, Otters and more. There are many aspects to living in this environment that need to be experienced to know. I left city life 30 yrs ago and have much to share regarding this lifestyle.

There is a local bus a few days a week if you wish to travel into the city of Powell River, 30 kms away. Population 12,000. Although I live alone I have a daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren living in the area who visit fairly frequently. I live quietly but appreciate having people around me enjoying their lives. Lund can be a lively place during the summer with outdoor music at the Lund Gazebo. I do have satellite computer and there is now a WIFI tower in Lund. The view from my house is forest, no neighbour's houses are visible. I like that!
Savary Island is a popular destination for camping and cycling, 15 min water taxi from Lund. It is an isolated area so access to busy social life and happenings are limited. Quiet and peaceful.Un poco más de información
