Franco stayed with us for a few weeks. He is very easy to get along with and did a huge amount of useful work for us, mainly digging channels for a new water mains as well as gibstopping, painting and he used his extensive handy-man skills to construct a wooden water meter cover. He is very thorough and conscientious and we can recommend him to any future host.

Linda and Bernie are two of the most hardworking and trustworthy people I've ever met. Their standards for love, care, and attention are beyond what I've ever imagined. Especially when it comes to helping, maintaining, and making sure all parts are covered. They both have taught me so many life values and I think of them as a second family to go back to. There are more than what words can say to tell someone what kind of hearts these people have. (Hint: They're very loving) I stayed in a comfortable private room with a bathroom attached! The work was very reasonable, lots of good food and smiles and joy to be shared. I learned how to do many, many things I haven't before which at first felt bewildering but now feel more manageable. Lots of birds, dogs, chickens, and the few puppies that are finding new homes now! The birds that would land on my shoulders or sit on my fingers were nice, and there shall also be lots of love from the dogs too. I believe it's an amazing thing that they're doing here, and in this big world, there's no one like Linda and Bernie. I would highly highly recommend staying here, to learn, to experience, to discover more of what you like, and to feel freer in the space you're in. 1000/10 and would definitely love to come again 💚 Much love, Kevin

First of all, I want to say that Alain and Yovana are among the sweetest people I have ever met. Even before I arrived at Tierra Encanta, they took care of every detail, helping me understand where to go, what time to leave, and how to get there. From the very first moment I arrived, they did everything they could to make me feel at home, and we quickly became comfortable with each other. I stayed there for a total of three weeks and had some truly unforgettable experiences with them. We did everything together, from milking cows and feeding chickens to helping lay the foundation of the new earth house they are building. We cooked incredible meals, and every meal felt like a celebration. We worked, ate, drank, danced, laughed, played games, and shared so many wonderful moments together. Thank you so much for making me feel at home. I hope to see you again soon.

It was so nice to have Milo in our home! He is very kind and good with everyone around. Especially our boys had a good time with him and loved spending time with him. He was very helpful, kind and patient, and we would love if he could come back one day to visit us

Tee and Paul arrived full of warmth, interesting stories and energy. The first shared meal was a long one as we enjoyed getting to know each other. On Monday they went straight into work, keen and thorough. They were ready to take on anything. Already at the end of day one, lots of work was completed at a high standard. Unfortunately Tee had a mishap on their evening walk and had to spend the next 10 days in hospital. Paul worked hard during those days before visiting her there every day. Although the workaway arrangement did not work out the way we all had anticipated, we enjoyed Paul and Tee as people and also appreciated very much the work commitment and quality of both of them.

Wow, where can we even start! We had the most amazing time volunteering with Claudia and Guido, it was truly unforgettable. During our time, we helped moving and cutting logs from the beautiful surrounding forest and some tasks around the garden. Claudia is such an amazing cook, we learnt so much about the Italian cuisine and vegetarian food, it was amazing! Their house and guest house are situated within a beautiful forested area south of Bologna, and they shared all the local foods with us. We felt so at home and so relaxed, they truly gave us the best experience possible, and gave lots of breaks and time off for us to chillax in the sun and around the pool! We cannot recommend them enough, we miss it so much already and wish we could have stayed longer. And of course, Sissi the cat deserves a special mention, she is adorable and will play with you all the time!

Darragh was an easy guest to have living with us, we enjoyed his company and he worked hard. He was happy to do hard physical work clearing scrub for planting, even in the mud and rain, and with no complaint. He loved planting and put in a lot of work to get a bunch of our natives in the ground. We would be happy to have him back.

We had a very special and memorable exchange experience with John and Penny. They made us feel very welcome from the moment we met. They were helpful with providing information and suggestions for local attractions here in Sechelt, BC and Canada in general. But they also made time to take us on some delightful outings as well. They are such a beautiful, gentle, caring and welcoming couple so it was an absolute pleasure to share time with them and give a helping hand when and where it was needed. John and Penny have created a gorgeous home, it is such a peaceful space both inside and out - it's a place you absolutely don't want to leave. It's enjoyable to be in the kitchen, sitting on the deck or pottering around in the garden. We particularly enjoyed our time sharing stories over a wonderful meal whilst taking in the amazing views. The view from the back deck is beyond words and we loved the relaxed pace each morning to just sit and take it in over a coffee. The absolute best start to the day! We feel as if we have made some truly wonderful friends and we just loved this opportunity to enjoy life in Sechelt with Penny and John. We'd highly recommend this workaway exchange experience and we hope we can come back one day! Thank you for the most special and memorable time in BC!

We had a short stay at Andrew and Siobhan's place but it was a really great time for us. They are lovely people, had a warm welcoming and nice exchange. We enjoyed working with Andrew and all our talks. We learnt a lot about gardening and kept a lot of ideas from the tidy garden they have in our mind for our home, because it's soooo beautiful! We had nice meals together. And the accommodation is just a five star place^^. That's was a sweet and comfortable stay for us. Thanks to us for their kindness.

I actually stayed with Luca in his land before he had his Workaway set up—about 10 days in total . I was so lucky to spend some time at Luca's Land! On clear days, you get to see a wide, beautiful sunset every single evening. If you add a little music, it's just the loveliest moment. The mountain opens up toward the city, and as the night gets darker, you can see little lights from the city across the way — it makes you feel peaceful, but never lonely ❤️ If you ever need a quiet moment to slow down, this place is yours. Luca is an architect. Together, we took care of the olive trees, repainted some furniture, and did really fun woodworking. I'm also an architect, but I usually spend most of my time on the computer, in an office, working on drawings. So working with Luca and learning from him — about woodworking, about hands-on building — was just great. If you're curious about these things too, this could be such a happy time for you as well. I truly like Luca and his land. When I have time, I'll go back again~❤️for sure.

In short - Hannah is great. Easy going, truly respectful of hosts well being and in the morning she may surprise you with some violin or banjo music. She was willing to help even if it was a short stay, her presence was helpful by itself. She is genuinely interested in local culture, traditions and life, ready to learn, listen and shear her knowledge as well. Thank you Hannah, see you, līgo!

I stayed with Sabine for 7 months. She’s an amazing woman. The love and passion she has for her animals is so beautiful to see and feel and we share the same values. Being surrounded by all her animals every day made me so happy. ❤️ All the work she’s putting into the center for the horses to have a safe space to live in. I felt so home with her and all the fur babies ✨❤️

Alkit was an incredible part of the foundation team. From day one, he brought positive energy, commitment, and a genuine desire to help others. One of his most meaningful contributions was helping Santy move one step closer to receiving his mobility device, creating a real impact on his independence and quality of life. Beyond that, Alkit helped Simon and the team work smarter by bringing fresh ideas, improving processes, and always looking for practical solutions. What stood out most was his willingness to jump into any challenge, learn quickly, and contribute far beyond what was expected. He became part of our community, connected with our mission, and left a lasting impact on both the organization and the people we serve. We are grateful for his time with us and would gladly recommend him to any future host. Alkit is not only a great volunteer but also a great human being.

My time at the foundation was a genuinely enriching experience. The team is large and diverse — with people working across different areas like the workshop, tour preparation, and community outreach — which means there's something meaningful for everyone to contribute to. I was involved in fundraising, and felt well supported throughout. What stayed with me most was working alongside people with disabilities. It's a humbling and eye-opening experience that really broadened my perspective on the world. I'd recommend this project to anyone looking for more than just a volunteering checkbox — it's the kind of place that actually changes how you see things.

Chloé was a devoted and a lovely volunteer. She was proactive, kind and helped us with our marketing and class plan. The kids loved her and also the teachers, we would love to host her again!
