I had a great experience staying with Lionel for a total of about 3 weeks in December. The work around the house and garden is indeed very manageable and he was very helpful accommodating my schedule as a digital nomad. He also really prioritizes eating well with lots of fresh and local ingredients and exposed me to lots of tools for improving my French, which I really appreciated as well. I also got to spend a few days with him and his mother in his hometown over Christmas week which I was deeply grateful for as I had nowhere to go for Christmas and it was a great time. The surrounding area is beautiful and Lionel helped me get around and also gave me lots of great advice on activities to do in the region. I recommend this workaway if you really want to lean into the south of France. Thanks Lionel and all the best!

Our experience was really incredible! Teaching English is a challenge, but one worthwhile were you can grow a lot as a person while also having a real impact. Thai school system is different, so you have to adapt and be open and curious. We also teached dancing and mathematics, participated in the Christmas celebrations and received an incredible amount of hugs and smiles. We take many good memories with us! Hani was really helpful at al times, supporting us with everything along the way. We can fully recommend this experience!

I stayed for one month at Mazras school in Belopa. The experience was very transformative for me. First ahead: The communication with Mazra was smooth and uncomplicated. She helped me with the organisation of my visa extension, which is possible in Palopo (one hour by car from Belopa). I can recommend extending a visa there, it was very easy. She helped me with the pickup from Makassar to Belopa and waited for me when I arrived at the school/her house in the early morning. You don't have to worry about the travel, she will take good care of you. Unfortunately I got sick in the beginning of my stay and faced the challenge of being sick at a place and with people and a culture I didn't know yet. This could have been very hard if it wasn't for Mazra and her family who was always there and offered me support and encouraged me in taking my time and rest to get healthy again. A few days later I joined her, her husband and the team to the mountains. This whole trip was such an amazing experience! The car ride was very bumpy but also a vibe. The mountains (and the sunrise) were one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The teaching in this very remote area was very cool. I held an english class and joined for help in the other classes the rest of the day. One of the highlights was the Eco-Print in the end of the day. The next day I joined the hike with the Team and it was the first time, I saw (and hiked through) rice fields. On the culture: It's an islamic region and school. In my whole stay (not season) I saw not only one other "bule"(foreigner). So if you're looking for emerging yourself into a new culture and a new region, this is your place to go. It was my first time being in Sulawesi and my first time living in an islamic region. However, I'm already able to speak bahasa Indonesia for a bit. That helped me especially for connecting to some of Mazras friends whose English skills are a limited. After this month the sounds of the mosques, the muezzin's call, and the different way to dress was familiar to me. The experience of gaining distance to my own culture for the first time was so interesting and did me a lot of good. Kindergarten takes place in the morning. It was very interesting to see the difference to western kindergartens, and also to see many similarities (which is because of Mazra's mindset). I helped with teaching in the kindergarten and in the english lessons in the afternoon and evening. Mazra is so open. You could discuss everything with her and also share ideas as much as you like. But anyways, she's always full of ideas and I gained many inspirations for my own professional experience. The teachers are very nice and the kids veery cute! I experienced some special kindergarten-events, like taking breakfast and playing in the park and then go to Belopa's library. Or a whole morning with all the kid's parents in the park, where there was a gathered breakfast, a tent (out of banana leafs) was built, morning dancing, they made paper themselves and built natural water filtration. Anyways, you'll never know, what a day will bring and I learnt to "go with the flow" and simply dive in and enjoy. Mazra is such an openhearted, energetic and joyful person, it's unbelievable. She could (and already did) fill BOOKS with what she already experienced in her life. She is the most giving person I know and this character trait of hers shifted so much in me, as I grew up in a culture that is very focused on possessions. She gives everything for her passion: for education, for children, for women, for justice, for humanitarian aid and much more. And I could see that by giving with all her heart, she's gaining so much at the same time and her heart is full. Seeing and experiencing that, was one of the best things that could have happened to me and really changed my mindset. The culture and religion suited me. The people (literally all I met - and they were many) were very kind. If you are interested in their culture you can connect very easily to them. Being able to speak the language helped, but also if you don't, everyone will approach you with openness, respect and curiosity. I feel like eating together and sharing food is one of the biggest love language for indonesian people :D They loved when I tried their local food and liked it (and I really did! I remember Sinole, Kapurung, Coto Makassar, and many more. and of course a loooot of mangos as I was there in mango season - I can really recommend going there in mango season, as those were the best mangos I've ever had). The time passed by very quickly and after a month I left Belopa, Mazra and all the people and children I got to know, with sooo many memories that I will keep for a lifetime. I really hope to come back soon. Madam saya, terimah kasih banyak untuk SEMUA. Semoga kita segera bertemu. oke mi..? oke si! <3, your girl Sara

If you are into self-sufficiency, care about the environment, and enjoy healthy, plant-based food, this place is perfect for you. I definitely learned a lot, grew as a person, and will incorporate some of the changes into my own lifestyle. It also made me realize how valuable it is to step out of your comfort zone. Marta and Thomas have a vibrant social life, so you’ll likely meet some of their friends. Their baby is absolutely adorable! They live in a very quiet area, surrounded by nature, where you can truly disconnect and enjoy a slower pace of life.

Great girl, and very mature for her age with a heart of gold. Clémence managed to cope with the cold very well and doing the chores necessary. She did a fabulous job with shoveling the snow, which was really needed during this time since we got a lot of it, but then we also got very cold weather (-30 degrees) and she was ok with that too. My car had broken down, so she had to to a lot of walking to get to the village. Clémence and I got on really well together so this is a friend for sure.

Sam and Tess are an exceptional couple! Sam is a great cook and has a fantastic sense of humour, and Tess is incredibly helpful with all the tasks she suggests and is very kind and sweet. We spent two amazing weeks with them! They taught us how to play a very interesting card game that we played together every night, and we also learned a lot about New Zealand from them. We totally recommend spending a few weeks with them!

I stayed for two weeks at Jennies charming farm and relially enjoyed my time there. Jenny is a very generous, kind and hardworking person and an amazing cook! My tasks mostly consisted of feeding the animals in the morning and afterwards helping with a couple of different tasks (sweeping, moving firewood, cleaning, etc.). I always got the weekends off and was able to explore the beautiful area! I enjoyed the company of the amazing animals, and even got a horseriding lesson. I would reccommend staying here! Shoutout to Raven :)

I messaged Claire and Stanimir whilst I was in Vratsa....it was wet and wild and I really wanted to get out of the van. I came on to Workaway and found their profile and instantly messaged them and almost instantly got a reply. We had a chat and although they were going away that weekend they invited me to come over and get out of the rain, have a shower etc. And that was the beginning of a beautiful experience and friendship. Because of the weather there wasn't much work I could do so we hung out a little and chatted and played with Meruhim (their 18 month old son). I had so much fun with Meru and after a few days Claire and Stanimir could see we had a good bond and they asked if I'd mind h taking him for a walk and just giving them a little free time for an hour or so a day. So thats what we did and it was great....we'd go for walks with our trusty companion Zara (the dog) and Meru never failed to miss a puddle, no matter how waterproof we'd make Meru, he'd always manage to breach the effectiveness of he outfit!! But he'd always be laughing and smiling.......we'd play with his toys and occasionally I'd read him a story..........I miss him! I did do some deconstruction work, knocking some walls down on an old house and moving bricks and other things whilst there and I helped one of their friends move some furniture. They also fed me well and Claire makes some great sourdough and yogurt.....I miss that as well!! Thanks Claire, Stanimir, Meruhim and Zara for making me feel part of your family and for an experience I'll never forget. Lots of love Gordon 🙏❤️

We had the pleasure of hosting James for three weeks, during which he helped Malik with mathematics and English. James was calm, reliable, friendly, helpful, and very discreet. He supported Malik with patience and clarity, and integrated easily into our daily life. His presence was truly pleasant and reassuring. It was a real pleasure having him with us, and we would gladly recommend him to other hosts. Thank you again, James, and we wish you all the best.

A joy to have Beatrice and Mario staying with us. They are full of ideas and positive energy, and I was especially impressed by the loving way they cared for our two energetic dogs. They also supported us with various maintenance tasks, always with a sharp eye for detail and plenty of motivation. They took great initiative and were very independent in carrying out a wide range of tasks, often anticipating what needed to be done without being asked. In addition, they proved to be extremely trustworthy and took wonderful care of our home while house-sitting for a few days. I can highly recommend them to any host and truly hope they will visit us again in the future.

I was supposed to stay for two weeks and in the end it was a month, my favourite stories start like this :) Thank you Lars for having me also during the Christmas period, it was very nice to spend this time with your family and to learn about Norwegian Christmas traditions. Your parents have always been very kind too. It was so nice to work and live in such a beautiful place, I did so many things I would not have thought to do, and of course I enjoyed so much living with your two dogs Heimdal and Trim :') Thank you so much for everything, be good, and maybe see you a next time!

I really enjoyed my three weeks with the family and was very warmly welcomed by them. They gave me a generous amount of free time and flexibiliy in hours. I helped Malik with maths and English, following the CNED seconde distance learning course. He was very motivated, so it was a pleasure to teach him. The ecolodge is beautiful, with a yoga studio that helped me find a good daily routine, and a beautiful coastline. The food was very good too!

I had a great time. Was only there a week and a half but was taken care of so well. It was summer and we had a great time together visiting lakes and having barbiques as well as chopping wood, deconstructing old hen houses and taking the refuse to the decheterie. Kathleen is fluent in soo many languages i really felt i could improve my language skills and communication was never an issue. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed having Jhair to stay although it was a pretty hectic week just before Christmas. He joined in enthusiastically with all activities including the Christmas carols and procession in Wooler and sea swimming in the very cold North Sea. Jhair also helped us with fencing, gardening and feeding the animals . Our Spanish and Jhair’s English were not good but I’m sure his English will improve rapidly ( unlike our Spanish!). We recommend Jhair as a pleasant, hardworking and enthusiastic workaway.

Volunteering at the monastery was a truly enriching experience. We had the opportunity to try various activities, from Tai Chi to Qi Gong, Calligraphy, and Guided Tours of the beautiful Buddha Museum. The most interesting part for us involved the dining rituals, the deep mindfulness about nutrition. It was so moving, educational, and a truly honor for us to be able to serve, as well as participate, in the formal dining, following every etiquette, and contributing to the cultivation of venerables and students. This experience teach us more than we ever imagined to learn, we are truly grateful to the monastery for opening its doors to international volunteers. We hope to be able to come back one day and keep following and enjoying the Dharma.
