I spent three weeks at Jennie’s farm and it was absolutely amazing. The place is beautiful, you are sorrounded by animals and nature and the small room where I was staying outside the main house was nice and comfy. The work was never too much and I always enjoyed it: I was feeding the animals first thing in the morning and then the other tasks

Jennie and Norman are very nice people, and Jennie was so kind to give me some horseriding lessons when she had time, which I’m very grateful of. She is also a very good cook, the meals were always tasty
They never asked me to work on the weekends and they let me use a car to explore the area, so I had a lot of freetime to explore the Dunedin area, Albatross colony, The Catlins…
Everything was just perfect, I totally recommend staying there and I would love to go back one day! Thank you again for everything

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Jennie’s farm! I stayed for 2 1/2 weeks. Jennie is a very friendly, hospitable and generous person.
Work was not to hard and enjoyable,
Cleaned troughs, fed out breakfast to the animals, got to help shearing the sheep. Also went out on a few rides with Jennie, the area is very beautiful.
Was very nice to have

Food was always tasty and where I slept which was out of the main house was very comfortable.
All in all had and amazing time and was very happy to get to know Jennie and her farm.

Hosting Julia and Micheal was an absolute pleasure. they were very helpful and I will be forever grateful that they provided the impetus (and did most of the work) to finally finish off my kitchen. highly recommend this couple, great communication and life skills generally. I wish that they had been able to stay for longer....

Jennie and Norman have a superb small farm. Fantastic dogs. Enjoyed our chance to do a little bit of riding with the horses. We enjoyed the general farm tasks and then managed some work in the kitchen. The sleep out was a bit drab. But has access to indoor bathroom and we were able to use the kitchen dining table. Jennie even let me deliver a

Leah and Finn came to stay for 3 weeks and were a pleasure to host. They are very fluent in English which is helpful and were quick to pick up on all the new tasks. Unfortunately we had typical winter weather and Leah and I were not able to do a lot of horse riding but we did get out a little. Leah and Finn helped feed the animals and did a lot of

We stayed three weeks at Jennie and Normans place and really felt at home.
Jennie cooked great, tasty meals for us as well as taking us out for dinner with her friends.
Our main task was feeding the animals in the morning and after having breakfast doing different chores depending on the weather like cleaning horse gear, cutting sticks for the

Apart from the work we had plenty of time for cuddles with the lovely animals (dogs, cats, horses and even the little pig :)) and Jennie provided us with tips what to do in and around Dunedin and even helped us getting a place to stay afterwards.
I really appreciated the opportunity to ride the horses with her, thanks again for that!
All together we very much enjoyed our time at Jennie and Normans and had a wonderful time. We’d love to come back and maybe even do the cavalkade. :)
And we already miss the dogs and kittens :((Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Theresa and Markus came to stay with me for just over 2 weeks in June/July and were a pleasure to host, I would have been more than happy if they had wanted to stay longer.
They learned my basic tasks easily and carried them out well. They were given a task of clearing damage made by my pigs that was quite a physical job and carried it out

I was most impressed with their work ethic and abilities.
They did everything I asked and also did their share of household tasks like dishes and cleaning up after themselves without prompting.
They also helped socialise the 2 wild kittens that I have trapped and helped get them tamer...
A lovely couple to host and I wish them all the best for their future

We stayed with Jennie and Norman for three weeks, but should have stayed for longer. They have a really nice and comfortable living room with a wood burning oven. Our room was next door and had everything we needed. The bed even had an electric blanket to keep us warm during the cold winter nights.
Jennie and Norman were really welcoming and
… read more invited us to join them on events with their friends. The meals were really tasty, especially Jennie's Chilli. She did a really great job, adjusting her meals to our needs (vegetarian without legumes as I (Theresa) am allergic to them). The surrounding area is really scenic and has lots of attractions and walks. Jennie can also give you some good recommendations on beaches, waterfalls and hikes further south. During our visit, we saw sea lions and seals at Sandfly Beach and native birds at the Orokonui Ecosanctuary.
They have two outside dogs and five cats. The dogs love to be pet and try to sit in your way to keep you from walking away. You can also walk the dogs, which was a lot of fun.
Two of the cats are still young, we were even allowed to name them. It was really nice to play with the kittens and watch them grow.
Jennie was kind enough to give me a few riding lessons. I had very little previous experience with horses, but Jennie turned out to be an excellent teacher. I even got to ride out once with a couple of Jennie's friends. This was probably the best experience of our stay :) .
Our work at the farm included feeding the animals, stacking firewood, weeding, sweeping, cleaning the horse gear and maintenance in the pigs paddock.
Thanks for letting us stay with you. We would love to come back one day.

I stayed with Jennie, Norman and the animals for 2 1/2 weeks and had a fantastic time! The work was quite easy and included feeding the animals, sorting the pig food, preparing the food for the animals for the next day, cleaning the dog's water bowls, brushing the horses, bringing firewood to the house and general help around the farm. Before I came to the farm I had a riding accident and was insecure about riding again in New Zealand, but I got the opportunity to ride Jennies pony Kelly, which is really safe and I gained trust/confidence again. It was so great going on rides with Jennie and her friends! I also learned a bit about how to teach horses to tow tyres which was very interesting. Jennie has a few cows, sheeps, goats, pigs (& sometimes piglets), horses (4 of them are retired, 2 young horses and the beginner friendly pony Kelly), three really cute dogs and cats (right now also kittens). Her farm is a small paradise for everyone who loves animals and being outdoor. Jennie will just expect 4h of work/day and you will have the weekends off, so you have plenty of time to explore the area. I don't have a car but Jennie dropped me off in Dunedin for an afternoon and when she heard that a friend of mine will come to Dunedin she invited her to stay for a weekend. That was so great, thank you very much again!
Jennie is working as a vet as well, so you will be alone on the farm for a few hours most of the days. She is a great cook and I really enjoyed all the meals she prepared. In addition, you can always make yourself a snack and there is always plenty of food in the house. I had a lot of good conversations with Jennie and learned a lot about animal care and New Zealand- I can just highly recommend staying with her!
If my flight back home wouldn't be soon, I would definetly stayed longer! :)Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

We had an interesting time helping out on Jennie's farm. Our main job was to feed the pigs, horses and cattle. Other tasks included clearing the overgrown access to some sheds, moving logs for winter firewood and weeding one of the fields. Steve also installed a new floor in the trailer and fitted a shed window. Jennie has a busy life, working as

The sleep-out accommodation is quite basic, as you might expect on a farm, but we had our own bathroom in the house which was clean. Melodie came and helped out for a couple of weeks and learned the ropes of feeding my animals and doing the basic chores. Then she came back and did me a great favour by coming for a month when I was away and helping out my housesitter who was a novice at the chores etc as my original housesitter had let me down.
