Carlos and Marcela were real gems and one of the sweetest people we have met! The communication was superb before, during and after their stay at our place. They took care of the animals, house and garden and offered help where needed. Above that they were very respectfully and left the house in superb conditions! They were also very flexible, and pro-active which was very pleasant! Absolutely people who you can trust. They are also nice to chat with. I can recommend them 1000% as workawayers. Thank you so much and wishing you both a nice time in Brazil!

Jean Luc was also my first WorkAway host. I was there with my friend Klara. At first, I had to get used to the surroundings. He lives on a large farm in the middle of an idyllic countryside setting. There’s still a lot of work to be done in the house, so it might be a bit messy. It’s best to bring your slippers. When it’s cold, the stove in the living room is the only source of heat. The kitchen and bathroom are cooler than the rest of the house (when it’s cold, of course). So, unless it’s summer, make sure you bring something warm. Jean Luc is an incredibly smart and warm-hearted person. It’s very important to him that you feel at home. He’s always up for a chat and is very empathetic. He also has a lot of talents! For example drawing and painting. Learning from him was one of my Highlights! He also has a great circle of friends. You go to a café for breakfast every morning. (You have to pay for this yourself; it costs around €5 every morning. You must pay for any special requests regarding food yourself.) My friend Klara and I took Jean Luc’s friends to our hearts very quickly. You can have deep and thoughtful conversations with both Jean Luc and his friends (especially Corine). The work was varied. (Spreading compost around newly planted trees, building and restoring furniture, finishing electrical installations, digging and clearing the ground, transporting hay with a small tractor.) You can learn lots of new things. Jean Luc gives very detailed instructions. In the evenings, there’s also a bit of wine as a reward. If you wanz to know more you can check out my friend Klara's feedback. She gave a detailed feedback. ;) I can highly recommend this place. It’s best to give yourself a bit of time to settle in – once you do, you won’t want to leave! Thank you for this experience!

We stayed with Luigia and Luca for about 3.5 weeks and it was truly an amazing experience. The property is beautiful and the amount of work they have put into it and continue to put into it is incredibly impressive. The working hours were flexible and we usually started in the morning. The tasks were very diverse: repairing and fixing fences, removing unwanted plants, separating stones from soil, mixing cement, learning the basic techniques of house building from Luca and much more, it never got boring. For us, it was truly a pleasure and we are very grateful for this experience. Luigia and Luca are incredibly warm and inspiring people. No matter what it was about they were always there for us and took care of us far beyond what one could expect. Every day we were surprised with new wonderful dishes from Luigia. Besides her amazing cooking skills, we also learned so many useful tips and tricks from her especially about gardening, plants and everyday life. And if you are lucky, you can enjoy Luca playing classical music, a very special moment. They always made sure we were doing well and felt comfortable. Despite small language differences, communication was always easy and natural and we quickly felt at home with them. Anyone who has the chance to stay with them as a Workawayer can consider themselves very lucky. You should be truly grateful to spend time with such kind, hardworking and genuine people. We are definitely very grateful for this experience and would come back anytime.

I had an amazing time at Ferdi’s and Franca’s place. I stayed for almost two weeks in one of their yurts, and I couldn’t have asked for more. The food was great, the views were incredible, and we worked and explored together in a very friendly, supportive atmosphere. Altogether, it was a truly enjoyable experience.

Our first Workaway experience was with Kerstin and Carsten, and it could not have been better. They are very trustworthy people, and we felt safe during the whole month we stayed with them. We had many good moments together. Kerstin was kind, caring, and helpful from the first contact. She helped us plan our trip to her house and sent all the train connections with a lot of care. She also planned trips for us around Germany. We visited Hohenleipisch, Dresden, Munich, Leipzig, Bad Liebenwerda, and Finsterwalde. She always did her best to give us a good experience and cooked very tasty German food. Kerstin, you welcomed us like a mother. Thank you so much for that. Carsten, you are a kind and lovely person. The time with you was great. Thank you for being so patient and attentive with me and Jenifa. We will always remember you with affection and hope to see you again soon. We also met Kelvin, a volunteer who stayed with the family before. He gave us many travel tips and became a good friend. We also met Tim. We spent a few hours together, and it was enough to feel a strong connection. Tim, we miss you and hope to see you again. It was amazing to see how a German family lives. We will always remember the moments, the lunches, and the dinners we shared. We hope we left a little bit of ourselves and a little bit of Brazil with you. See you soon.

I discovered Zakaria’s profile by chance. I was updating my project and I had the curiosity to search Workawayers nearby. So I find him, living in my town and studying in our local university. I contacted him for some chats and I invited him to join me and my friend for the Eid celebration in a town nearby. Zakaria is a very nice and interesting guy. He’s very clever, with a respectful and kind attitude. He helped me with a couple of works at home that I couldn’t do by myself and offered to do more if needed. He hadn’t much time because he was leaving to join another host but I hope that it will be possible to meet again when he will come back. I recommend him because I’m sure 100%that he can accomplish any task with precision and skill.

Michelangelo reached out to us because he was urgently looking for a host; his original host had stopped responding. We agreed to host him for a week, and that turned out to be a really good decision. From the very first moment, we were drawn to his calm, polite, and very helpful nature, and we felt as though we’d known him for a long time. He settled in very quickly and immediately pitched in with various tasks: from trimming bushes to digging holes to remove roots to stacking wood in the garden. He joined us for an evening with friends around the garden fire and fit right in with the whole group. We highly recommend this young man to other hosts and would love to see him again!

Our time here was truly unforgettable. Having the opportunity to teach English to the children in this Cambodian village was a life-changing experience. We stepped far outside our comfort zone, yet somehow it quickly felt like home. Mr. Son, his wife, and their daughter were wonderful hosts — warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. And the food… absolutely incredible! Every meal was home-cooked with care and full of local flavor. We poured our hearts into the school, and it was deeply rewarding to see how our efforts were appreciated by the teachers, students, and fellow volunteers. We’ll always treasure the memories and the friendships made here

Me and my friend Ronja stayed at the farm in the beginning of April for almost two weeks and had a very pleasant stay with Jean Luc. The cherry tree was blooming and the cats and birds often visited us when we’re having lunch and dinner outside. After grabbing coffee and a breakfast from at the local village of Messac or Vayrac and meeting Jean Luc‘s lovely friends in the morning, we did some exploring around. We saw beautiful castles and the French countryside. On the car rides we did some little French lessons. After a few days we were allowed to take over the drivers seat and also did a tour with a van- with was very cool for practice driving in a new car at a new place. In the afternoons we worked on the farm- bashed some concrete, installed electric, restored some old furniture and also did a bit of gardening. The structure of the day was good for me, it helped me a lot to feel comfortable. In the middle of the stay we had very good weather and went to the river to picnic and enjoyed a glass of wine. My personal highlight was the birthday party of Lore and the cello and saxophone concert hihihi. Also the historic car show at Vayrac was so cool and we always made jokes about the big houses around being our future mansions. Jean Luc is a very open minded and joyful person, with whom you can enjoy a lot of different conversation topics. He put a lot of effort into showing us the surroundings and letting us try new things, so we got a good impression of the French life at the countryside. Also the French cuisine- we made quiche and crêpes. I really really really loved playing the piano. All in all I had a very good time and I wish we would have stayed longer. Salut :)

This was our first Workaway experience, and we could not have dreamed for a better beggining! Since day one we felt at home with Nathaniel and Diana. They are wonderful people, kind and dedicated. The land is beautiful and sits in a privileged area. During the working hours, we would be learning a lot since they both communicate really well and love to share their knowledge. The tasks were interesting and diverse, and it was very cool to see how everything gets reused in nature. Then the free time would pass by flying (so that we had to stay another month) due to a lot of fun activities outdoors, aswell as game/fireplace/film nights. It was also good to have a camp for ourselves in case rest or privacy was needed. We are greateful and we would be happy to come back in the future! We absolutely recommend staying here for a couple of months and get to know them and their project. Domo arigato / moltes gràcies!

Una persona entrañable y muy buena ayuda. Buena comunicacion y conversacion.

I had a wonderful experience with Tanisha and Ashwin. I’ve done several volunteer projects through Workaway, and this stay truly brought back the sense of authenticity I felt when I first joined the platform years ago. You’ll be living in a remote and absolutely beautiful place, hosted by an Indian couple who are building something meaningful from the ground up. Being part of their journey and helping bring their dream to life is incredibly special. They have a vegetable garden and a lovely café that is almost ready to open. During my stay, I helped with farming, painting, and assembling a few things for the café. The work felt nice and relaxed. The place itself is very peaceful, and I also had plenty of time to be on my own, so it’s ideal if you’re comfortable with some quiet and solitude. The volunteer accommodation is very clean and it has everything you need. It even has an Indian-style toilet, which for me was part of the experience and made me feel more connected to the local lifestyle - after all, we are in India! 😃 Tanisha and Ashwin are wonderful people — kind, welcoming, and great to be around. I was also lucky enough to try the coffee they’ll soon be serving to clients, as well as their pizzas — both were absolutely delicious and made with great care. Absolutely delicious! 🤤 I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for something genuine. This is a real one :) Thank you again for hosting me — and hopefully see you in Portugal! 🌈

My time on Bowen island was absolutely amazing. Ana, Jesse and Emilia made me feel like part of the family from day one. They are all so fun to be around and we laughed a lot together. Also they really made me feel welcomed in their house and trusted me from the beginning. The "work" was not a lot and was mostly picking up Emilia and spending time with her which didn't feel like working at all. Emilia is such a funny, smart and confident girl so that spending time with her was always great. Sometimes I cooked dinner or just tried to make family life run a little easier. But I always felt like part of a team and also appreciated the good communication. Besides that I had plenty of free time. Ana and Jesse always encouraged me to explore Bowen and take part in Island Life. They lend me their cars and sometimes even gave me a ride so coming around on Bowen was not a problem at all. On the weekends I had the days off so I was able to go to Vancouver a few times and meet with friends I made on the island. It would also be possible to go to Vancouver Island or Whistler. This was my first Work-away experience and I absolutely loved it. The family made it so special to me and I couldn't have asked for a better family to stay with during those six weeks. Also Bowen is just an incredibly beautiful place (even in winter) and there is a lot of nature and wildlife to explore. If you want to you can even take Camila and Flo as your adventure buddies with you which I would highly recommend. I already miss the family and hopefully will be able to come back one day!

Yetong and Sascha were our guests for 25 days and provided us with great help with various tasks: construction, weeding after heavy rains, repairing the fence on the surrounding wall, and planting new trees. They are hard workers who, with proper guidance, are capable of working independently. They are clean, tidy, and respectful of space. Despite our difficulties understanding English, it wasn't too difficult to communicate the essentials of daily life. Good luck, Yetong and Sascha!!!

Freyja was an amazing add on to our team for December and January, exactly the peak season where we needed hard working people and she was defitinelty one of them!! Freyja was super responsible with her shifts, she was unbeatable in housekeeping, didnt matter if they had 15 or 25 beds, she rocked it every single time! Definitely our GOAT of housekeeping. She has a very social and bubbly character, and she got along so well with the whole team and guests! Loved to play games in her free time which was really nice to see, it makes people bond you know. Freyja gave us such amazing ideas also for the hostel, she gave the hostel definitely more color and character! She came up with a sunset kayak activity which until this day we still run and people love it. Thanks Freyja for your amazing contribution in our hostel, we loved having you here, we're waiting for your comeback next year!!
