We would 100% recommend staying with Liz, Luke and their three wonderful children. They made us feel very welcome and included from the very beginning and we spent an amazing eight weeks at their farm. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place, and we loved spending time living with and caring for the animals. The sleep-out we stayed in was extremely comfortable and we slept really well the whole time we were there. We had fun game nights, great conversations and shared many delicious meals. Thanks to the whole family, we learned a lot about New Zealand and had the chance to explore the surrounding area. We spent Christmas in the pool and loved learning about their traditions. Some of the work included weeding, planting vegetables, collecting firewood, doing small repairs and we even got to built signs for their food truck and a planter. The tasks were quite physically demanding at times, but we enjoyed the workout, and Liz and Luke always made sure we had enough rest and protein. ;) We couldn’t be more thankful for the amazing time we had with them and hope we can meet again someday.

Lavina stayed with us as a yoga teacher, and it was truly a pleasure to host her. She is deeply passionate about her practice and brings a high level of commitment and dedication to everything she does. Her classes were inspiring, and she created a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone who joined. Beyond yoga, Lavina was incredibly helpful and collaborative in other areas. She shared her social media skills to support our project and was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was welcoming guests during breakfast service or assisting with daily tasks. Her positive energy, reliability, and team spirit made her a wonderful addition to our community. We highly recommend Lavina to any future hosts—she is not only a skilled yoga teacher but also a kind, resourceful, and supportive person.

Roberto was a very kind and caring host! We had everything we needed! The place is wonderful and the dogs are the best I have ever met. Thank You for Everything!

The best way to describe Maelle and Felix is a ray of sunshine in a human shape! They are such lovely people that bring instant positive vibe to the place just by being here. Very flexible , very eager to help , independent, multitalented , they helped with various tasks around , all with ease and peace. They became part of the family immediately, and took matters in their hands -took care of our place like it was their own. Everything went smoothly. They even extended their visa to stay a bit longer with us . Cannot reccomend them highly enough! Just be careful, you may become very close to them and be very heartbroken when they leave! :) Thank you for everything!

We even don’t know where to start and how to express our appreciations to Theo and Lou! They are such a flexible, reliable, open minded, hard working, organized, and grounded couple! From the very beginning when we met at the pickup point, we knew that we will have a great time with them as we already felt as if we had met each other before. They are literally great fits in our team. During their stay for 3.5 weeks, we were in the harvest and planting season. So they helped us in the fields by harvesting, threshing the harvested rice paddy, preparing the fields for the next planting, germination, and planting. Also, they helped Captain to renovate the old house by sometimes breaking the old brick walls and a bath tab, reusing them to make a new path, digging and carring the soil, etc. It was really a physical work. As we described them as a open minded couple, when we had guests or the students for the workshop/training course, they were always ready to interact with them. In addition, they never forgot to help in the kitchen : for preparing the ingredients, dishes, helping Kakak to cook, and washing, cleaning until mopping the floor to make us feel comfortable to cook later. Lou is such a great artist(you should check her instagram or ask her in person!), she left an amazing masterpiece on the wall of the communal area. It was a last minute request from us though, she drew such a beautiful for sure, and also meaningful and well-thought-out drawing which will feel them always in our heart even after they left the farm. Theo is always ready to help us and always show up with such a good vibe. Even we told the volunteers to rest because of the rain or less work to do, he looked for Jai or Captain to ask if they need any help, or came to offer some coffee. He took care of the kitchen and the communal area and made it always clean as a daily routine. We really appreciate to his attentions. On top of that!! Even after they left the farm, they came to help Captain outside the farm, when he had a workshop in Kuala Lumpur(it’s 8hours away from the farm)! They became his assistants and filmed as well, which was just what’s needed but we couldn’t do as only Captain went for the workshop. Also, they made a wonderful short movie about the life on the farm as well for our social media. We can’t say thank you them enough and can’t describe how much they gave to us enough though, we hope we can welcome them someday again and tell them in person. 😊 So, dear all the Workaway hosts that received a message from Theo and Lou, we really hope that you could welcome them to your amazing projects and enrich their travel. We are pretty sure that you will have such a great time with them! Theo and Lou, thank you so much again for being such a lovely great couple and beautiful souls! Come back anytime and continue makan makan together, sing, dance and laugh with roti gula! :D Take care always and safe journey! Celeste and Gaetano are amazing human beings that we were lucky to cross path with! Even though we only had one week together , we had a great time collaborating together! They are multitalented, hardworking people and bring good energy to the place.Communication was very easy from the beggining to the end. Pity we did not have enough time together,i'm sure great things would have been accomplished! Very highly reccomend to work with them, you will thank me later :)

There is not a day that goes by since Wendell & Gregolly left that I don't think about them and wish they were back on our team. Both of them are amazing volunteers and helped us out in more ways than one. Gregolly is highly skilled in Graphic design and designed new logos, leaflets and much much more to help improve our hostel appearance. Wendell is a gifted social media content creator and he made multiple videos and posts for our social media account and helped us to boost our social media performance. They filmed some of the most beautiful content about our Ha Giang Loop tour. During peak hour in our hostel when the restaurant was busy or when check ins were chaotic, they were both there to lend a hand and take a load off for us. Wendell and Gregolly are the sweetest pair you'll ever meet. Both of them are very calm, peaceful and positive souls. They were rarely without a smile and always around when you needed a hug. They made beautiful connections with other volunteers and staff and they were always up for an adventure. They are a big miss in our hostel. If you ever have the chance to host them, don't even think about it just accept them and you won't regret it. Amazing, amazing, amazing people <3

I'm really not sure where to start. Ivan is just a ray of absolute sunshine and he's got the biggest smile and an even bigger heart. He was a wonderful volunteer, everyone in our hostel loved him. During work hours he was thorough and diligent. He spoke to each guest as if he had known them a lifetime. Outside of work hours, he was busy making connections with other volunteers, our staff and the locals. Ivan is a very capable volunteer. If you ever get the chance to host him, please do, you won't regret it.

Emilie appeared to be quite shy and reserved when we first met her but over the course of her volunteering she really opened up. She was a fantastic help around our hostel and no task was too big or too small for her. Emilie was a fantastic receptionist and had a great use of initiative and problem solving skills. She also made unbreakable bonds with fellow volunteers and staff members. I highly recommend Emilie for any volunteering position.

What a pleasure it was to meet Mikael and have him on our team for a few weeks. He was a very hard worker, completed all of his tasks quickly and efficiently and he was never without a smile. Mickael interacted very well with our guests and had excellent customer service skills. He was always helping everyone out even when he wasn't on shift. Mikael is a very outgoing and sociable person which allowed him to make very strong connections with our staff and other volunteers. Our hearts were broken when he left however, I cannot recommend Mikael enough. He is a super volunteer <3

It was a pleasure to host Fabienne. She has a calm and alive energy and is a perfectionist in the jobs she does. It was really enjoyable having her around =)

Comunidad hermosa, quisiera siempre encontrar las palabras adecuadas para describir una experiencia y, normalmente suelo quedarme corta... Es importante destacar la buena fortuna de habernos encontrado con Aina y Oriol en el último tramo de su viaje... Fue un bello regalo. Nuestro compartir fue de muchos compañerismo, charlas muy enriquecedoras y una experiencia de familiaridad amorosa cálida y grata. Fueron de gran ayuda en las fases de reconstrucción post incendios y supieron adaptarse muy bien a las difíciles condiciones en que nos toca vivir a veces. Mil y un veces recomendable este compartir y dejo mis sentimientos de gratitud por la ayuda que han brindado de corazón estos bellos seres. Gracias Aina y Oriol

We had a lovely stay with Caro! The sleepout was nice and cozy and had everything we needed. Caro provided us with a clear overview of the possible tasks we could choose from. This made the work hours incredibly flexible and easy to fit in with our other sightseeing plans. Besides that, Caro was very welcoming and easy going. Overall, we can definitely recommend Caro as a host!

I stayed with Rex and Diane at the end of December 2025 and it was a real pleasure. They picked me up and I felt at home from the very first second. They included me in every aspect of their lives, from working on the farm to barbecues with friends. The tasks were simple and balanced. But above all, they taught me a language of love! I really enjoyed my stay with them. A warm hug, thank you for all 🤍

I loved this experience. Jin is one of the warmest, nicest and funniest people I got to know in my life. The dinners, hikes, getting to know other people and taking time with the volunteers really made me see beauty the north of Thailand in cultural ways. The kids are eager to learn English, happy and excited. I hope I can return some day! 🩷🥰

I had a wonderful time with Hanna. She really loves cooking and always provided us with original creative delicious meals. I was very impressed with her ability to plan ahead of time, considering what we have and the balance etc. She is almost perfect trilingual with deep cultural unerstanding. She was eager to learn about Japanese culture and practiced tea ceremony eagerly, which was a learning experience for me, too.

We had the best time! Dani and the whole team are amazing people, Open-minded and very welcoming. The work was so much fun. In the morning we walked the dogs, in the evening we did gardening and cared for the 3 horses. You are out in the nature the whole day and have enough time to rest. We worked most of the time with Nacho and Melli in the shelter and enjoyed every moment we spent with you. We also spent Christmas with Dani, it was so special and lovely. We will never forget our time in the shelter and miss you so much! We still talk about you and the dogs and horses everyday. They had so funny characters. Thank you so much for everything Dani, we admire your passion and you inspired us, you crazy dog mom! <3

Soo this review is long overdue, and I’m very happy to finally write it: I found Valentin and Ivana spontaneously through the website when I decided to extend my solo trip last minute, and staying with them for two weeks in the mountains near Monchique was a truly magical experience on a peaceful, beautiful piece of land surrounded by nature. The energy of the place is calm, grounding, and deeply nourishing, and Valentin and Ivana themselves are incredibly warm, open, and empathetic. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely seen, cared for, and supported, and being able to have deep, meaningful conversations with them really moved me and inspired me to think in new ways. Our mornings often began with optional sunrise meditation, followed by work that varied depending on what was needed. They always checked in and adjusted the work to my wellbeing, with fun and enjoyment always the priority. We ate lunch together, which felt warm and natural, and afternoons and weekends were free to explore nature, meditate, do yoga, or simply enjoy quiet time with myself. One especially meaningful experience was when their neighbor took us out on his boat near Portimão. I had met him a few days earlier at lunch; he was funny and full of positive, youthful energy, making the trip incredibly special. I slept in a tent a little away from the house, which gave me privacy while still never feeling alone. With life happening mostly outdoors, an outdoor kitchen, and nature all around, the experience really supported reconnecting with yourself and the natural world. This lifestyle isn’t for everyone, as you spend a fair amount of time alone and away from everyday distractions, but everything is explained clearly beforehand, and you are always supported. Even in just two weeks, the experience left a lasting impression, and I often think back on it with a warm, grateful feeling. It is a truely magical place and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who feels called to it. ❤️

I house sat for Rich during Christmas time, with 2 other volunteers. We looked after his 3 dogs, taking them on walks on the beach. We also looked after his Parrot. Ludwin and Leonel (friends of Rich) , were excellent and helped us with many things when Rich was away. Rich also took us into town to get supplies before he went away. Rich was in contact, to make sure we all were okay, when he was away. Rich lives in a beautiful part of the world , on a gorgeous beach , surrounded by stunning nature. Wish you all the best Rich

I spent almost 2 weeks volunteering here, including New Year’s Eve. I contacted Bob about a week before and we had a call to discuss his needs vs. what I could do, ensuring our expectations were aligned. Most of my time was spent designing website wireframes and preparing content for the tour brochures. The work itself wasn't too difficult for me, but the difficult thing I would say is that as volunteers, we need to know what to do without asking Bob (too frequently) as he is very occupied. As a shop owner, Bob is very busy with daily operations and unexpected issues, so it’s important for volunteers to be self-initiated and find things to do without needing frequent discussion. I intentionally didn't read the reviews too carefully before I reached out because I wanted to leave some "unknown" part to this experience. And yes, there were some surprises that made me feel so glad that I came, and also some unexpected things that I needed to adjust to, but they were just part of the journey. Everyone has different expectations for Workaway. Initially, I just wanted to spend more time to explore Panajachel, plus I love chocolate so much! I did have a good time walking along the lake, exploring San Antonio, Santa Catarina, and Solola, and of course, the beautiful New Year’s Eve. However, after these days, I think what I learned and felt deeply is not to take anything for granted. I tried to really "live it" when I worked here, and it's also what I saw from Bob. He never took my work for granted and he always cared about whether I was overworked, bored, or hungry... etc. He genuinely cares about everyone around him and he really helps all of them. Thanks again to Bob and the entire staff who made my trip in Panajachel so unique and unforgettable.
