This is a small holding in County Clare. My husband, Thomas, and myself, Jacintha live here with our two young sons and three older (teenage) children and our little granddaughter. The animals here are two dogs, two cats, three goats, some hens and a pony.
We aim to create community here on the 7 acres site, based on voluntary simplicity, doing/ growing/ working to be self- sustainable and based on living in a circle, listening from the heart/ co- creating/ healing to save the world and improve the culture. Currently we don't yet live with others, but we do organise a host of events that are community based, involving folk from our local environment, the rest of the country and also from abroad like workawayers.
The events we host are usually free or donation based . We practice Talking Stick ceremony during our gatherings, a tradition we learned from Rainbow Gathering and Circle Way elders. There is the monthly one for women, the Red Tent and for men, Mountain Men. There are gatherings for toddlers, pre-teen and teenage girls, pregnant women and Circle Way enthusiasts. We start each month with the Community Day, involving Play - Food Share- Children and Community Council and we end each month with the Sacred Singing.
There are also annually returning events, Wombs at the Well Weekend, Sweat Lodge Weekend, Circle Way Teaching Camp with teachers Ellika and Simon, as well as events that are brought here by other facilitators
All these events take place in the home-build Round House.
If this sounds appealing to you, you will need to consider as well, that we live without electricity and with very limited internet access. We find it empowering to live without electric power and this home is a place to come away from the overwhelming modern gadget world, and return to the elements that are real in our actual world, fresh mountain air with the raven to greet you, fires from wood and turf that was cut by hand, healing dark bog lake to jump in and return to your feelings, and clay from the earth to cleanse and colour your skin and turn you back into an indigenous earth human.
The help we need is mostly related to growing food, collecting fuel (wood and turf), harvesting the willow, building and maintenance of the home house, playing with/ caring for the home- educated children (we offer them a mix of unschooling and anthroposophy), and general day to day tasks like animal care, harvesting, preparing food, helping with events, keeping fires going and collecting water from the well, cleaning the compost loo, light domestic help etc.
Thomas has immersed himself all his life into learning many trades and has done most, nearly all of the building here himself over the past 22 years, while using straightforward farming techniques to improve the land and care for animals.
Myself, Jacintha, I am a homeopath and Reiki master, my background lies strongly in the Wheel of the Year, ancient Irish wisdom teachings and paganism.
If all this calls to your heart do contact us to organise your visit and we can give you your 'Welcome Home'.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje
