We live without electricity and very limited internet since 1998. Voluntary simplicity is our motto.
We are a family with 2 sons still at home, a number of older children have flown out already.

The various self-sustaining farm projects roll through the year; from the willow harvest to sowing the garden, working the soil, milking the goats, weeding and cutting the turf, harvesting and preserving for the cellar, baking bread, cooking on the fire, collecting wood and chopping it etc etc etc. There's never a dull moment and lots to learn.

Thomas and Jacintha are a homeschooling/ unschooling mix family. Food preparation and doing dishes form the heart of our days, with song and warm family life.

Thomas is a small holding expert. He works tirelessly and steadily, keeping animals cared for, fires lit, trees planted, the yard tidied and everything in order. And he loves his daily cold dip.
If you're interested in off grid living, sustainability and learning manual skills, you couldn't find a more experienced person to work with.

Jacintha is the mother glue, organising community events in the Round House on the land, women's circles and the weekly parent and toddler group. She's forever attempting to get on top of the household tasks, while giving a heartfelt welcome to many, with hearty homegrown meals. Homeschooling the growing boys takes a lot of her time.

We're looking for workawayers who may have some experience in life and with living off the land already.
If you are a mature person, please consider us as a host.
Yet, anyone with an interest in the Great Turning, who cares to volunteer for simplicity, might enjoy some time helping us, and tasting a life without much electronic technology.

We enjoy welcoming people from anywhere into our home and learning about traditions and customs from different places. Every person is a gift to the world and we love finding out about other people's passions in life and how they are coming into being. We will happily make every attempt to create space for talents to come to the fore while people are staying with us.

Life is eternal learning and it's beautiful to grow with every helper as they leave their traces in our home.

ps there is almost no phone coverage here. You're not completely without but it'll be more limited than you can probably imagine. Offline is the new luxury and we are proud to be low tech.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

We live remotely and there's plenty of opportunity to take walks or go for a cycle (you can borrow a bike and a map). Day trips to any of Ireland's beautiful locations are possible. We can bring you to Gort or Ennis from where trains and buses go further afield.
We are looking for helpers that are interested in the type of help listed above, those that keep their eyes open to see what needs doing and enjoy jumping right in.
Appliances that require electricity are not going to work out at our home as there is no electricity. Once a week on Friday we start the generator for a few hours during Movie Night for charging phones.
Bringing a power bank and a head torch is a big bonus.
The nearest village is 9km away and we don't have neighbours. We're right beside a regional road yet still we live considerably remotely.
We are available to drive to places where public transport can be used or to visit local events of which there are many in the summer.
