  I have two grown up children who work and live in Dublin. I lecture in a University in Dublin where during semester I spend three nights a week. The gardens have been neglected for a number of years but now have been largely restored. The principle project is to assist in the further restoration of the gardens including cutting back overgrown hedging, some weeding, some planting, lawn cutting and some painting of railings. A car may be made available for people with a full European drivers license who are over 25 years of age.

  I am a university lecturer who teaches business and geography. I speak some French and Spanish. I expect my travellers to have a rich cultural and learning experience. I am a keen gardener and conversationalist. Workawayers are expected to help with gardening and around the house. They will have the opportunity to visit such cultural sites as Holycross Abbey (photo), the Rock of Cashel (photo), Farney Castle and many others that are in close proximity to the Lodge. Meals are provided including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Workawayers are expected to assist in the preparation of meals which provides the opportunity to engage in conversation with the host and with other workawayers. Each guest can expect to have their own double room, some with views of the river Suir. Bicycles are provided for the use of the workawayers. Buses to and from Thurles, Holycross, Cashel and Clonmel will drop and collect from the gate of the house. Taxis are also available the phone numbers of which are on display in the house.

  I Lived for a year in France ( Paris and Dijon) in 1986. I also lived for 6 months in Madrid in 1988 and a year in Lanzarote in 2021. I speak reasonably good French and Spanish and am interested in improving both.

  Alojamiento

  There are two houses on the property which is located on the banks of the river Suir, a kilometer from the historic village of Holycross. The village is home to the internationally acclaimed Holycross Abbey which dates from 11th century. The main house is a Georgian building constructed in 1820. The second house, a Coach House, can also be traced to the early 1800s. Both houses were completely refurbished in the 1990s. There are three bedrooms, three reception rooms, a kitchen and two bathrooms in the main house. There are two bedrooms in the coach house, a large reception area, and a bathroom. Travellers can expect to have their own bedroom. WIFI is available in the main house and also in the coach house.
  
  Meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. Workawayers are expected to assist in the preparation of these meals. Beer soft drinks and snacks are also freely available.

  The house is situated one Kilometer from the village of Holycross and three Kilometers from the town of Thurles.
  The Gaelic Athletic Association which is the Irish national sports organisation was established in the town in 1884. There is a very large Sports stadium located on the Holycross side of Thurles which regularly hosts national hurling and football games. The train station in Thurles is also located on the Holycross side of town which is only two kilometers from the property. Thurles is one of the best serviced train stations in Ireland with numerous daily trains to Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Tralee and Killarney. There are buses from Holycross to Thurles. Taxi services are also available. I am a keen cyclist and have numerous bicycles which will be made available to the traveller should they wish to use them. The fishing rights to the river are attached to the property. In addition there are numerous other visitor attractions. The Rock of Cashel is 15 Kilometers away which can be comfortably cycled in 40 minutes or driven in 15 minutes. More locally Farney castle is about 5 Kilometers distance from the house. There are three pubs in the village and a restaurant, Park63. There are numerous pubs and restaurants in Thurles. A traditional music night can be enjoyed every Wednesday night at "The Monks" pub in Thurles. There are three pubs and a restaurant in the village of Holycross. The village market takes place on the last Satuday of each month.
