We are Japan's first true land-based animal sanctuary for exotic pets. Our place primary mission has two parts. The first is to rescue exotic animals from the pet trade and euthanasia, to rehabilitate them if need be, and to give them lifetime sanctuary. The other is to educate people about the difference between domestic and exotic animals. Since it’s not possible for captive-bred animals to be returned to the wild, we try to replicate their natural habitat as closely as possible and provide enough enrichment for them to live a quality life.
Our secondary mission is wildlife rehabilitation/release and repopulation.
I started working with animals by training my first pitbull puppy in 2012. Learning how to train my dog turned into earning multiple dog training certificates and volunteering my time with a fighting dog rescue and rehabilitation center. There, I gained a reputation for being able to handle the more difficult animals. From there it wasn’t much of a leap to start taking in more animals that other people or shelters couldn’t work with. After moving from Tokyo to rural Chiba, I started focusing more on exotic animals and realized that her home had become a sanctuary for un-adoptable animals.
If you love animals, I'm sure you'll find your time here very rewarding. The work can be dirty and hard though!Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

You'll be sharing a house with a kindly older Japanese man (I stay next door) so there will be plenty of chance to practise your Japanese! He can speak basic English as well. We are based in the Japanese countryside, but we are only a couple of hours from Tokyo.
Ayuda
We need help with the day-to-day care of animals such as feeding them, cleaning up after them and walking them.
We would also like help with building and maintaining animals enclosures so any skills in that regard would be very much welcomed.
As a non-profit organisation, raising funds and our profile through social media posts is an important part of what we are trying to do. Help in that regard would be great, too.Idiomas
