Descripción
DECEMBER 2026 to MARCH 2027
We are looking for 2 x Workawayers. This is ideal for a couple but friends willing to share, please feel free to apply.
Primary tasks involve mostly cleaning, but may also include some other general household things. Hours will be 20 per week but not necessarily the same each day - some days could be 2 hours, some could be 5. We ask that only those who are flexible and okay with this apply. You will have 1 day off each week (so hours will average 3-3.5 per day but again, probably won't be totally routine-like).
You will be paid for any additional hours at above Japanese minimum wage (although there is no guarantee Dec-Feb, some paid work is quite likely during the first or second week of March). As such, you must have a valid working holiday visa. Ideally, an international driver's permit too.
You will have free, warm and clean accommodation in a large room (twin share), plus daily cooked breakfast, free gym, and of course, plenty of time to ski or snowboard! Your only basic expenses would be lunch, dinner, and a ski pass (we have a commercial-sized kitchen for you to prepare your meals and may be able to provide free season ski rentals if we get onto it early enough).
Please understand that we are only able to consider those who are comfortable with a 3-month commitment (mid-December to mid-March). You will be living alongside our full-time staff and while your work won't involve directly working with guests, you may certainly take the opportunity to hang by the fire of an evening and chat to folks from all over the world should you wish.
We are a Japanese/Australian couple who need help during the winter. Myoko Kogen is famous for its powder snow and so the main attraction is skiing/boarding from December through March.
We have both worked in tourism for many years and as such, we enjoy meeting (and look forward to hosting) self-motivated, positive, and respectful travellers and hearing of their travels and experiences. We have a young daughter (with another on the way who will have arrived by next season) and we live in a quiet neighbourhood, so this not suitable for those who are looking to enjoy nightlife, etc.,.
We need help with chores such as cleaning and possibly babysitting (any childcare experience would be valuable). Any Japanese language ability would be favourable but not absolutely necessary.

Staying with us in Myoko Kogen will give you the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, language and cuisine. For skiers and snowboarders, it is a powder paradise with huge snowfalls each winter.
We speak English and Japanese at home and so there is the opportunity to learn a bit of Japanese. You'll also meet people from all over the world.
