We are currently looking for a Workaway guest who can stay with us from June 14 or 15 for at least one month, with a maximum stay of up to three months.
We run a small English school for children in Fukuoka. Your main role will be supporting English lessons and spending time with the students in a fun and friendly environment.
Our classes are small, so you will be able to connect closely with each child and see their progress over time. All lessons are already structured, so there is no need to prepare teaching materials.
Pronunciation is especially important to us. We highly value exposure to clear and natural English pronunciation, as it plays a very important role in children’s learning. We therefore welcome applicants who speak with natural, clear pronunciation.
We are looking for someone who is:
Kind and patient with children
Able to communicate with non-native English learners
Responsible and reliable in communication
Quick to respond to messages
This is a great opportunity to experience teaching in Japan while becoming part of a warm local community.

Work schedule (3 days per week):
Tuesday: 15:00–20:00
Wednesday: 15:00–20:00
Friday or Saturday: 9:00–14:00
Hourly wage: 950 yen
We kindly prefer guests who are comfortable communicating in English during their stay. For this reason, applicants who prefer to use Japanese in daily communication may find other hosts more suitable.
Please note that accommodation will be at my mother’s house.

My family has four members. I am 46 years old, and my hobbies include table tennis, mahjong, visiting hot springs, and karaoke.
My husband is a carpenter. He is very shy, so he rarely starts conversations by himself.
We also have a 4-year-old dog named Marry. My daughter lives nearby on her own.
Our house is a spacious 5-bedroom home (5LDK) built in 2020. We also have a garden, and we sometimes enjoy BBQs together. My mother’s house, where you will be staying, is located about 5 km from my school. It takes around 20 minutes by bicycle, 10 minutes by car, or within an hour on foot.
We are a typical Japanese family.
I have quit smoking, and I now use non-nicotine shisha.

By participating in our activities, you can directly experience Japanese culture and customs, and gain a lot of energy from teaching English to children. Additionally, I play table tennis , go to karaoke , and visit the sauna .I love playing mahjong . If you're interested, you're welcome to join me. Furthermore, I can also teach Japanese cuisine.

We can offer you a room equipped with a TV, closet, refrigerator, and an air conditioner. Please note: There is no washing machine available. However, you can use my bike! Also, please note that Wi-Fi is available in the classroom, but there is no Wi-Fi at my mother's house where you will be staying.

Recommended Places in Umi Town
1. Umi Hachimangu Shrine
Umi Hachimangu is the most famous shrine in Umi Town. It is especially well known as a shrine for safe childbirth, and many people visit from all over Japan. You may also see traditional Japanese ceremonies for newborn babies. It is a peaceful place surrounded by nature, where you can experience a traditional Japanese atmosphere.
2. Nature and Hiking
There are many mountains and forests around Umi Town, so you can enjoy hiking and nature walks. It is a great place to relax and experience the beautiful scenery of each season. There are also famous temples and hiking trails in the nearby Sasaguri area.
For safety, please be sure to bring proper hiking shoes if you plan to go hiking.
3. Easy Access to the City【From My house】
Getting around is very convenient. The nearest station is only a 5-minute walk from my house. If you are going to the city, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes by train with just one transfer. You can also take a direct bus from my house to the city, which takes about 60 minutes without any transfers.
4. Easy Access to the City 【From My Mother's House】
You can get to Hakata Station (the city) by taking a direct bus from my mother's house. It takes about 25 minutes.
