The daily tasks involve feeding the animals, cleaning their space, making sure they're all okay. If you have building/repairing skills, that will definitely be useful. Same with photos and videomaking: very useful for Lisa's social media accounts! If there's an upcoming event (like there was when I was there), you'll also get to help prepare and manage it. It's a great opportunity to develop more skills and meet people. In the evening, we take turns cooking, which allows you to discover yummy vegan recipes from all around the world. The atmosphere around the table is always friendly and relaxed. I really enjoyed our conversations, movie nights, games and cuddle sessions with the dogs. The house is super cosy and welcoming. She also has very high level skills with social media and photography which was a big help to us here for the animals. She was also very proactive about teaching me things to help with marketing the sanctuary and I learned a LOT from her that will help us in the years to come. We absolutely recommend Lisa’s place and suggest staying for at least one month. They also were VERY clean and organized and not only cleaned up after themselves / but everyone else both human & animal! I still can picture Michał seeing one of the pigs going to the bathroom and Michal getting excited yelling "fresh POOP" and runing for the shovel in excitement . You don't gems like these two often . My time at the animal sanctuary with Lisa was absolutely amazing!! I had originally made plans to stay here for two weeks but ended up staying for a little over two months. Lisa made me feel at home right away and it is truly admirable how much she cares about and loves the animals she has at the sanctuary and all animals in general. During my
… read more stay I got to help with so many different things and meet so many new, wonderful people. Some of the things I helped with were playing fetch with the one and only Wilee (who has all of the energy in the world and is the cutest), feeding the absolutely adorable GINORMOUS pigs, feeding the cute little rabbits as well as cleaning their areas, snuggling the cats, helping with tours of the sanctuary, and my personal favorite- hanging out with the goats and giving them treats (you'll have to ask Lisa how she got Derrick- it's the best story ever).
Lisa and I would also have movies nights which were always fun as well and meant we got to snuggle the doggos.
It was such a wonderful experience getting to know and help the animals as well as experiencing a vegan life style. Lisa was always so excited to introduce me to new vegan foods (especially desserts)! One moment she would be talking about a food I had to try and then next thing I knew it was in the house for me to try. Lisa is such a wonderful, beautiful person. Words cannot describe what an a delightful experience this was for me. I cannot say enough positive things about Lisa and the animal sanctuary. It was hard to leave but I will certainly be back! If you're thinking about volunteering here, just do it!!! You won't regret it. Ugo was incredible!! He stayed with us along with some of our local volunteers and had all of us laughing and motivated the whole time . He gets along great with other people and was also amazing with our sanctuary animals . He made sure to understand all of the house rules and went above and beyond to make sure he exceeded job expectations but

I asked him to help with a construction building project repairing the roof for our rabbit house - and he exceeded expectations with building but also had the idea to build birdhouses with the leftover scrap wood and leftover paint ! He took them up into the woods and added such a nice touch to our trails! I asked him to clean out an animal supply shed partially and he told it upon himself to do the whole thing - each job he was given he did much more than was asked ! We also loved learning some French words & culture and learned a lot from him. Ugo was such a joy to spend time with and everyone here is asking again and again when he is coming back . I would recommend Ugo to anyone . VERY hard worker and self motivated . He really connected well with the animals here and made a huge difference in their care . Ugo is also very creative and brought a lot of new ideas here which we implemented .

First of all, it was my first workaway and vegan experience. Lisa never forced me to respect veganism - I was free and she offered to buy for me whatever I wanted to eat.
Nevertheless, I chose to live as the other sanctuary members live, so I adopted a vegan diet with all that goes with it, and I loved it.
I had a nice room, good meals, good cultural sharing. It was a real pleasure to work for Lisa and give it my all.
I loved pampering the animals. Lisa highlight my skills.
I loved helping out every day with Pay-Mah, a recovering pig.
I loved building the roof for the rabbit house annex with another helper.
I loved preparing and participating in the Longevity event. I also took liberties and initiatives like building birdhouses to set up on the trail that runs along the pond and up to the Yacks. Storing shelters and organizing bikes, fetch the ball with Wylli the dog :)
The sanctuary is huge and rich enough to spend some free time there, but for a change of scenery Lisa, don't hesitate to suggest activities elsewhere, such as tree-climbing or sunbathing by the lake. I've kept nothing but beautiful moments of my time at the sanctuary and I'm happy to have contributed to its prestige, and I hope with all my heart to return soon.

She also was very skilled in many areas and helped with gardening for the animals food, cleaning their areas and cooking for other volunteers. She was SO fun and open to eating and cooking vegan while she was here and also helped us veganize recipes from her family and from where she most recently lived in Ecuador so the cultural exchange was really interesting and I also loved hearing about her adverntures in other countries...I learned a lot. Andrea also proved to be great at multitasking and being flexible when work needs changed. She is also super talented and helped with marketing and flyers for our non profit to raise money for the animals and it was amazing having a professional give me guidance and help with our fundraising efforts. Working with Andrea was such a joy and hope to have her back again.
Andrea was also very good about observing house rules and found her to be very reliable and trustworthy and gave her a lot of important responsibiliites early on. I highly recommend anyone looking for someone who is a talented and self motivated hardworker who is fun to be around.
