  We are a couple of spanish educators that has created an educational project for rural areas in Brazil.
  Projeto Ataîru works mainly in two areas:
  -A cultural center and community library that offers several courses and activities. There are two locations : one in the Belomonte Settlement and the other in Apolônio de Carvalho Settlement. You will probably be helping in both of them.
  -A literacy course developed in the last years of the fundamental education and young and adult school in Bom Retiro de Guaíba too.
  The possibilities of engagement of the volunteers in the Ataîru´s work depends on the creativity and skills of them, any propositions could be done if they are related with the style of the project and if is able to be done with our resources.
  We work with arts, languages, tutoring, music, literature, yoga, theatre, cultural places management, resources searching and cultural events.
  
  Somos una pareja de educadores españoles que en 2014 creamos un proyecto educativo para comunidades rurales en el sur de Brasil. Desde el año 2021 somos una asociación y trabajamos principalmente en dos áreas:
  1-Dinamizando dos centros culturales con función de Biblioteca Comunitaria, donde ofrecemos cursos variados y actividades. Tenemos dos sedes: una en el Assentamento Belomonte y otra en el Assentamento Apolônio de Carvalho.
  2-Desarrollando un curso de post-alfabetización implementado en los últimos cursos de enseñanza fundamental en una escuela pública, localizada a 10 km del Assentamento Belo Monte.
  Nosotros trabajamos con artes, lenguas, refuerzo escolar de nivel fundamental y medio, música, literatura, yoga, teatro, gestión de espacios culturales comunitarios y búsqueda de recursos, gestión de biblioteca y producción de eventos culturales.

  Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje

  The areas where we work are very quiet and peaceful because they are far from cities and their busy life. Working with this children and young people of the rural areas is very nice and interesting. The contact with nature and the simple rural life is beautiful. You are gonna have time to read, play, walk, study or just rest in a hammock.

  Ayuda

  The amount of hours of work required is 20-25 hours a week. We are open to new propositions of any workshops and activities.The possibilities of engagement of the volunteers in the Ataîru´s work depends on the creativity and skills of them, any propositions could be done if they are related with the style of the project and if is able to be done with our resources.
  We work with arts, languages, tutoring, music, literature, yoga, theater and cultural events. As a volunteer you can work with these same activities or propose new ones. We mainly work with children and youth, but if you one to work with adults, tell us and maybe we can make it happen :)
  The expected time of staying is minimum two months.
  We are nowadays in a process of cataloging our collection, so we can receive volunteers that can only spend one or two weeks. We would teach the method we use on the first day, it's not difficult but it's laborious, so any help is really welcome.
  
  La cantidad aproximada de horas requeridas para el proyecto es de 20-25 h. semanales. La participación de los voluntarios en el proyecto dependerá de la creatividad o capacidades de cada uno. Estamos abiertos a todas las propuestas de cursos y actividades afines al estilo del proyecto, siempre que sea posible llevarlos a cabo con nuestros recursos.
  Nosotros trabajamos con artes, lenguas, refuerzo escolar de nivel fundamental y medio, música, literatura, gestión de espacios culturales comunitarios y búsqueda de recursos, gestión de biblioteca, yoga, teatro y producción de eventos culturales. Como voluntario puedes encajarte en una de estas actividades, o proponer nuevas. Trabajamos mayoritariamente con niños y jóvenes, pero si tienes interés en trabajar con adultos, háznoslo saber e intentaremos que así sea :)
  El tiempo mínimo requerido son dos meses.
  Actualmente estamos en un proceso de catalogación de nuestra colección, por lo que podemos recibir voluntarios que tengan menos disponibilidad temporal, que puedan pasar una o dos semanas con nosotros. Enseñaríamos el método que usamos el primer día y luego trabajarían autónomamente. No es un trabajo difícil pero sí laborioso, por lo que cualquier ayuda es muy bienvenida.

  Alojamiento

  We provide accommodation with internet and all the meals included. The volunteers will have they own room in our house, and that's why we accept maximum two people at the same time (if they are a couple or good friends).
  The food will be provided, but we expect collaboration for the preparing the meals.
  
  
  El proyecto cubre los gastos de alojamiento con acceso a wifi y todas las comidas. Los voluntarios tendrán su propia habitación en nuestra casa, por eso recibimos máximo dos personas conocidas en el mismo periodo. La comida será subministrada por nosotros, pero esperamos contribución a la hora de cocinar ;)

  The public transports are reduced, but there is a bus station 4 km from where we live to go to Porto Alegre. It spend between 30/45 min. to get there.
  
  Los transportes públicos son limitados. A 4 km de nuestra casa hay una parada de autobuses para ir a la ciudad. El trayecto hasta Porto Alegre lleva aproximadamente de 30 a 40 minutos.
