Hi, I have an off grid 5 acre medicine farmstead in Southern Nicaragua. I'm from the UK originally and moved to Nicaragua in 2018. I created my farm, to be a medicine arts centre. There are herb and veggie gardens, there's an aerial rig for silks and trapeze, there's a big art studio where I write and paint and there are 2 houses on the property and a rustic cabin. It's an oasis of calm here and I'm always looking for help making beautiful things (wood work, art, photography, gardening, making food amongst other things).

We are a place where it's encouraged to speak and learn spanish. There are 2 full time workers, Benito and Larry, who speak only spanish. Spanish language learning is an important part of your stay. Lucy, your host speaks English (native language) and Spanish and she used to speak french but forgot it mostly when she learnt spanish:)
During your stay I can suggest ways in which you can get to know and help out in the local community. The stuff needed in the local community includes beach clean ups and helping out with local building projects if that's your thing.Ayuda
Hi,
My main focus that I'd like help with is setting up a good spot for people volunteering to stay.
The area I want to improve is a rancho with a palm roof, concrete floor, shower and out house which I'd like to make nicer. ... Right now it would feel like camping under a roof to stay there ... I'd like to make it prettier so it feels more like glamping:)
If you're good with building and your creative this could be the perfect project for you.
Other projects that you're welcome to message me about if you feel your skills fit with are:
- Turning medicinal herbs and garden produce into good things : This is a big area of growth - the garden has lots of medicinal herbs and I'm wanting to make herbal medicines to sell and I need help in this area - this can include working with the herbs directly if you have some know how about medicinal plants and how to make salves, tinctures, teas etc it can also include helping with design to make labels and packaging....
- Teaching and working in the garden: If you have permaculture and organic gardening experience let me know ... I have 2 gardeners who look after the garden beds, composts, seedlings, bees, garden maintenance etc but and I love organising workshops for them, and for other people in the local community - so - this could be a great fit
- Beekeeping: I have 5 bee hives... if you have experience working with bees let me know
- Carpentry: I have wood from trees that are grown on the property (teak, laurel, balsa) that's ready for working with - shelves are needed and other things (I also have dreams of making a surf board with balsa wood).
- Natural pool building: This is a project that has been on my to-do list for a while...
- Maintenance: In Nicaragua the weather is intense and everything requires maintenance every year ... if you're good at fixing stuff ... painting... plumbing... electrical ... there's work :)
- Art - I mentioned this is a medicine arts center - if you're an artist let me know ... artists residencies are one of the offerings hereIdiomas hablados

Alojamiento
As mentioned in the section about the help I'm looking for the accommodation is the main area I'm looking for help.
There are 2 spots for accommodation for volunteers:
One area is a simple palm roof hut with access to a shower and an out house. There is electricity and wifi. The building doesnt have exterior walls but it's roofed so it feels like camping up in the rancho.
The second area is a tiny little cabin which is super cute ... it's got electricity and water but you'd come to the main house to use the bathroom or use the outhouse.
I do have a 2 bedroom guest house if you want an upgrade to your stay. Availability depends on the rental season.
For food you'll help share in the cooking. Two to three days a week we have help with cleaning and cooking the other days we share in making food ourselves.Algo más...
While you're here you can take walks in the beautiful countryside, you can go to the local beaches, you can surf and you can visit the nearby town of san juan. I'd recommend looking at renting a bike if possible during your stay. There are a couple of motorbikes at that are sometimes available to rent by the day.

Acceso a Internet limitado

Puede acoger a nómadas digitales
We have been a favourite spot for many digital nomads. It's got great wifi and consistent energy (no power cuts) which can be hard to find here in Southern Nicaragua. We don't have power cuts because we're off grid with good solar capacity and each house has it's own wifi.

I got to stay for 3 weeks in total, first week with Lucy (since she left to see her family in Canada) and afterwards with nicas, who work on the property as well.
Lucy knows a lot about plants and I would have loved to learn more… read more
