I feel happiest in the outdoors, and love both nature and animals. I'm from New York City and always feel better when I venture outside city limits, and I love the ocean and woods especially. When living in the city I take many long walks through different parks and neighborhoods--I love to explore, and I find a sense of calm in solo adventures. I also love going on picnics and trips with my friends--there is no better feeling than being in a crowded car with music playing and the windows rolled down.
I always aim to treat my surroundings and other people with empathy and respect, and I feel most personally fulfilled when acting in service of others. Our lives are not isolated entities, and I never want to forget that my own existence depends on the care and grace of my community.
In my free time I read and write fiction--I love literature and am hoping to eventually enter a career in writing. I graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in English in the spring of 2023. I'm hoping that living abroad will offer me a simultaneous sense of self-discipline and community.Interests

I have experience in childcare: I have seven years of babysitting experience, and I've worked at a children's after-school program for four years, leading activities and helping the kids with their schoolwork. I loved forming connections with the students there, and as much as I've tried to teach them honesty, kindness, and discipline, they have done the same for me.
At Wesleyan, I was also a teacher's assistant, applying my tutoring skills to those in my age group. I graded students' work, met with them individually, and led lessons on the books we were reading, all of which has given me a sense of confidence in offering guidance to others. I am currently a research assistant for my current professor, which has reinforced my accountability, diligence, and communication skills.
I also have 4 years of customer service experience. I've worked as a barista and in the food service industry as a hostess and server. As a result, I know how to keep level-headed in a fast-paced environment and act with several tasks in mind at once. Working in fine dining has taught me to remain poised and tactful when interacting with customers.
I also have experience in fostering and rehabilitating dogs with my family, and I spent three summers taking care of my great aunt in rural Washington. I cooked her meals, cleaned the house, tended the garden, gave her medication, ran errands for her, and helped her bathe and get into bed.
I now feel I know how to approach people and animals with sensitivity and care.Age

I also love art--drawing, painting, collaging, etc.--and would be eager to engage any of those skills if needed!
