  • Description

Hello there! My name's Tara, I'm 19, Australian, easy-going, open and always looking for laughs and sharing stories with strangers. I'm hoping to see more of the world over the next few years, get out of my comfort zone again and again, adventure and connect with more wonderful people. I have a great love for the outdoors and believe spending time in nature and reconnecting with our beautiful planet is what I really need more of in my life. This is the start of my second gap year and I am choosing to simply have fun outdoors and see where it takes me.

I will be in Canada with my IEC visa to work and travel at the awesome Big White ski resort in the Summer time and will have free time during the shoulder season (September, October, November) and would love to share and learn new skills whilst experiencing new ways of life! I love this country and its nature and the ease with which I can explore the outdoors in any season.

In my down-time, you will find me hiking, exercising, reading, attempting baking, and growing up in Australia gave me a lasting appreciation for being around water so I am always on the hunt for a lake, river or ocean to jump in for a swim. I travelled alone for a few months in my gap year in 2024 after working at a summer camp in the United States and am pretty independent. I cherish time alone but also adore company and storytelling over good food!

A bit about my journey so far:
I grew up in France for four years and travelled lots of Europe at a young age, which sparked my interest in languages and cultural exchange. I’ve also spent the last few years helping care for homes, pets, and children in my local community, and working in hospitality has helped me grow even more comfortable in new and social environments. I currently work as a lifeguard, swimming instructor and receptionist for my local council and have learned so much and made some life long friends! I have also helped out a few times in the centre's creche which only amplified my love for working with children. I have extensive experience teaching swimming to toddlers and babies so I am pretty well versed in turning frowns upside down!

I speak English and French fluently, although my French is a bit rusty these days, and look forward to hopefully meeting you soon!
