Hello! My name is Shaan and I just graduated from the University of Texas at Austin! I have a very strong passion for learning new things, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences! I am the kind of guy who is always trying to get friends to go to a new restaurant or do an exciting new activity. I believe every person on earth has something to offer and I find a lot of joy in building connections with new people.

In my free time, I also find happiness by making music (I have released songs on all streaming platforms under “sd_beats”), playing the drums (I have been playing since I was 7 and have been in multiple bands), flying planes (I have been obsessed with planes since I was a baby and was fortunate enough to be able to pursue and ultimately obtain my private pilots license in 2018 — I now rent Cessna 172’s and fly around different parts of Texas during my free time), making films, taking photos, going on sunset hikes, DJing, and also just relaxing (many of my friends would say I’m a “big chiller” lol).

One thing that really keeps me motivated in life is the fact that there is still so much more to learn and accomplish; if I apply myself fully and put my best foot forward, I believe I can ultimately achieve my goals, regardless of temporary failures or drawbacks:)

I am brand new to Workaway mainly because I only recently found out that this exists! This is perfect for my adventurous personality and I’m looking forward to these upcoming adventures!

I just graduated from the University of Texas at Austin this May with a double major in Canfield Business Honors and Finance as well as a minor in Entrepreneurship. I have a strong aptitude and love of all things business, especially when it comes to strategy. I am also skilled in the Microsoft Office suite (excel/word). In October, I will begin working full-time at Strategy& doing strategy consulting.

I am skilled at video editing as well as photography and filming. I am also very musically oriented and can produce electronic music as well as play the drums (advanced proficiency), piano (basic proficiency), and guitar (very basic proficiency). I am also a pilot and hardcore aviation enthusiast — I would love to talk or teach about anything aviation related! I am an extremely fast learner, so while I am not very experienced in things like gardening/cooking/etc., I can definitely put in the effort to learn and become proficient fast!

In terms of languages, I am fluent in English. I have full professional capability in Spanish and love speaking it — I ideally want to be able to learn more in an immersive environment. My native language is Gujarati and while I can understand it fluently, I can’t speak it that well. My mind goes to Spanish first when I don’t know how to say something — I could become fluent again though if I immerse myself in Gujarati and made the effort (I plan to do this).

I started playing chess again recently and also got a motorcycle which I like to ride around for leisure. I also like to play Catan with my friends and would love to play with new people! I love sports (mainly college football and NBA) and love playing them/learning new ones!
