I am currently in Kampala, Uganda working for a grassroots NGO with community development. Would love to meet and get to know people here and see more of the country together :)

Description

I am a curious person, often looking for ways to experience something new and unlike the things that I already know. This has led to me now, half a year after my high school graduation, wanting more than anything to go travel: far away and to a totally different place than my Swedish hometown. I am longing to learn about new cultures, ways of living, beliefs etc. I would love to work/volunteer at a place where I can truly come to aid and I am sure that such experience would give me a lot of value in return. Besides my passion for social science, I enjoy reading, running, I have played soccer almost my whole life, and of course spending time with loved ones.

After having worked full time for half a year in a restaurant I am well trained in working in stressful environments, doing several things at a time, meeting with all different kinds of people, doing catering, basic cleaning and cash management.
I am also well experienced in working with children since I have led a soccer summer camp, been a tutor and done babysitting. Currently, I am a volunteer for the Youth Association of the Red Cross where I prepare and distribute breakfast to children every Friday.
As mentioned earlier I am highly interested in social science and spend a lot of my spare time learning about world conflicts, history, international and national politics etc. My high school Diploma project was a paper about the Uyghur's in Xinjiang: the oppression, the question of genocide and international actors responses to the situation. Learning about conflicts, minorities and issues that are not that widely spoken about is something that I find both important and fulfilling.

I want to travel somewhere where I can contribute with any kind of development and simultaneously learn from the experiences and differences from my current life. In short: I want to experience something different from what I am used to while doing something meningfull.
