Hello, I'm Sammy,

I’m currently travelling South America, been on the road for one year and I have no plans of returning to my home country, I guess you can say this is my lifestyle now. At the beginning of my travels I completed my Yoga Teacher Training and have been teaching yoga to friends & in hostels since then. I’d love to dive deeper into teaching yoga and learning more about holistic / sustainable living and building! Work Aways that are centred around communal living / living off-grid (bio construction & permaculture!!!) / living on a boat or near the ocean spark my interest, as well as my new found passion of wood working / carpentry. My hobbies revolve around the outdoors; I love camping, snowboarding, surfing, hiking and gardening, and have been immersing myself in creative interests including writing and drawing / painting whilst being on the road. A personal goal of mine is to create a mural for a hostel. I consider myself a bubbly, enthusiastic, compassionate and open-minded person who is eager to learn new things while discovering my passions along the way.

I have worked in many different working environments; as a high-school teacher, receptionist, production planner and working seasonal jobs in the winter seasons. I enjoy working in environments where I feel valued and can increase my knowledge in holistic living. I am very interested in living a sustainable lifestyle and would love to be inspired by any sustainable or community development projects.

Probably one of the best volunteering we ever did.

Some places leave a mark on you and this place is definitely one of them. And hopefully we left a bit of us there as well.
The family granted us a room for ourselves, with -almost- private bathroom, that we were free to decorate the way we wanted. In a month we truly felt at home here, in our… read more little cocoon.
The range of work is broad, very diverse, long yes, but not too intense and honestly finishing at midday and having the whole day for yourself is wonderful. Overall lovely and Marylin is always here to listen to ideas you have for anything ; feed her with ideas and she’ll come up with a special project for you!

And, honestly, since we left this place, we can’t get over it and stop thinking about it because those days were beautiful, full of joy, love, peace and laughters.

We loved feeding animals early in the morning, it became a routine we deeply cared for and got attached to. We loved eating every meal with Marylin’s family as it was always delightful and sweet sharing moments.
The space, in this green desert as they call it, created by Marylin and family, really allows one to be itself, feel safe and cared for. Sincerely since day 1 we felt included in the family, they opened their arms wide to us and never stopped to do so; always available for us, listening. We can’t thank Marylin enough, whom kept her childish soul and was always resonating with us in playfulness and jokes. Forever in our minds the moments shared in that excursion in a National Park in the Chaco where she kindly took us to camp with guests of the Estancia. We could share here very distinct and beautiful memories that are still roaming our brains very vividly.

All thanks as well to Joel, Radika and Enoch, a wonderful trio with whom we loved to spend time with. Enoch was truly a bright sun and hopefully he will shine even brighter with time. His parent sweet education will surely provide that space for him.

Thanks to Gerardo as well, always ready to share about his views and gratify you with a laugh, thanks to the chicken and ducks you fall in love with, thanks to Bobby this little funny dog. We’re thankful and grateful and would advise anyone to spend as long as they can here. We will surely be back, if our journey leads us there anew. Again, thank you for everything.
