  • Description

Hi! My name's Ren and I use they/them pronouns. I am a hard-working and creative individual, looking for rewarding and meaningful work. The predominant reason I'm on this site is to offer what I can to leave a positive impact on this world. I am fluent in English, proficient in Spanish, and learning German at the moment. In my spare time, I love to read, learn random facts, drink tea, and take walks; listening to music pervades all these activities.

I worked as a barista at Starbucks for three years, so I have food and beverage, cleaning, and customer service experience. I currently volunteer at a shelter for at-risk teens, and have been babysitting since I was 12. Because of this, I have experience in childcare with kids of all ages.

I am also currently a college student majoring in Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego in the United States. While I may not be able to fix all your technological woes, I certainly am comfortable in the world of coding and databases. :)

I can teach Spanish and English - I am a native English speaker, and have tutored Spanish in the past. I am still learning German, and would be delighted to pick up any language I can. Linguistics fascinate me, as do the cultures surrounding every language.

First of all, I take great joy in fixing things. Whether it be with a screwdriver, needle and thread, or a few lines of code, finding solutions is something that truly motivates me in my day-to-day life.

I have woodworking, drywall, and general construction experience, and have helped build houses and sheds in my hometown. I am also a quick learner: if there is something I don't know how to do, I only need a few minute crash course and I'll be on my way.

I especially love mending, sewing, and crocheting. If there are holes in your jeans, tears in your curtains, or something that needs shortened or hemmed, I am happy to help.

I have extensive experience in childcare and tutoring, and can cook and clean. I especially love cooking vegetarian meals, as I don't eat any meat except fish. As I have a sweet tooth, experimenting with vegan baking is also something I love to do.

As a Computer Science major and a college student, I love anything to do with reading, research, and coding, and am always ready to learn something new.

  • What else ...

As a college student in a dorm, I am currently sharing a single room with two other people, so I am no stranger to sharing spaces.

Personally, I am not religious, but I value those that are, and believe we all have something to learn from each other.

Most of my morals can be summed up as such: leave each place you go better than you found it. That is my goal, whether it be hiking a trail or visiting a country, and it is the reason I am on this site.

Finally, I am nonbinary, which means I don't identify as a woman or man, but somewhere in the middle. I use they/them, gender neutral pronouns, and if this will be an issue, I wish you luck in finding a better suited workawayer :)
