  • Description

We are both highly hard-working, enthusiastic people, quick to pick up new skills and keen to meet new people around the world!

We are passionate about conservation, the environment, and anything that involves being surrounded by nature. We are therefore looking for opportunities that will enable us to work with nature, in the hopes of furthering conservation for generations to come.

Phoebe holds a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Exeter, and Alana holds a degree in Biology from the University of Oxford. We both have experience with conservation fieldwork and environmental outreach, which we are keen to further through workaway experiences.

Both of us are learning Spanish and are eager for the chance to practise and improve.

Thank you very much for your time!

  • More details about your skills

Phoebe: Throughout my academic career I have built a strong foundation in ecological principles, environmental issues and management, and conservation. During my time at university studying environmental science, I gained experience in conducting a number of different field studies. This has given me hands-on experience in collecting, managing and statistically analysing complex datasets. In my free time I also volunteer for the Bat Conservation Trust, helping them with their research into the Lesser Horseshoe bat through acoustic monitoring.

I am also very practical, have hardware knowledge, and have some experience with carpentry.

Alana: During my degree, I conducted fieldwork in the Azores and in Spain, where I gained hands-on experience collecting bioacoustic data and learned additional survey methods. I recently carried out a two-month internship in Wales researching and conserving marine mammals. Furthermore, I planned and carried out an independent research project on a ship studying zooplankton in the North Sea. I also have experience teaching others, as I went into local schools to teach children about climate change, and tutored students in biology and maths for five years.

I love gardening, and have experience planting and growing lot's of fruits and vegetables.
