I'm more of the quiet, thoughtful type, but my friends say I have a big heart. I'm definitely committed to the things and people I care about. I'm also curious about the world and enjoy exploring new places, meeting new people, learning new languages. You might say I've turned this interest into my job, as I have 26 years of experience working as a language teacher!
I've had a special interest in Poland ever since my visit in the late 1990s. Five years ago I finally started learning Polish. My level is quite good now, but I'm keen to keep learning more and get even better at it. I don't just like the language, I like the country as well, especially the hilly landscapes in the south.
My main hobby is running. I run most days and every so often I enter a marathon or another race. I also enjoy reading, meditation, watching movies, cooking, spending time with friends, being in nature.

Language learning and teaching have been my main passion ever since I was at high school. I studied languages at university, then I got an English-teaching qualification and worked as an EFL teacher for eight years. After that I taught German language and literature at a university in New Zealand for 18 years.

Language teaching, writing, editing, translating - those are things I do professionally. I also enjoy working outdoors and doing jobs around the house. I have experience painting, mowing lawns, chopping wood, caring for chickens. I'm happy to help out in the kitchen or take charge of cooking a meal.
