  • Description

    Hello!
I'm Meg. I'm a creative, fun-loving, independent 24-year-old with an enthusiasm for adventure. I'm from Vancouver Island, Canada, where I grew up surrounded by forests and oceans and working in the garden. I am very passionate about helping people form deeper connections with nature, and have worked many different jobs that relate to this. For the past several years I've worked seasonally as a guide at a lodge here on the Island leading youth on multi-day hiking, climbing, and canoeing trips (I also have experience with working in the kitchen, dining room, and housekeeping here), and during the school year as a mentor at a forest school with 4-6 year olds (which I LOVED). I also have a keen interest in gardening, especially permaculture. Several years ago now I completed my permaculture design certificate and have since worked as a gardener and landscaper, although I haven't yet lived in one place long enough to put my permaculture dreams into practice! In my current adventures, I'm interested in spending more time working in permaculture spaces so that I can deepen my understanding and gain some more design knowledge.

In my personal time I love to take on creative projects, and have recently been rediscovering the joy I find in painting (both watercolours and acrylics). I am also very active - I love to trail run, I'm a climber, and a thru-hiker (in 2024 I walked the length of New Zealand on Te Araroa, over 3000km, and this past summer I hiked solo about 1100km through the Canadian Rockies along the Great Divide Trail. I have so many trail tales to share!). Depending on where my adventures take me I'd love to expand my climbing skills, find climbing partners and local crags, and would also love to learn to surf.

NOV / DEC 2025 I am thinking of going North for a few months. I've always wanted to visit the Yukon - I'm not scared of the dark and I love snow, although there's never much of it where I come from, so I may need advice on winter clothing!

  • More details about your skills

I have lots of experience maintaining my own vegetable garden and growing food for myself and my friends and family, as well as working professionally in clients' gardens. I've also spent plenty of time with heavier maintenance tasks like lawnmowing, chopping / stacking wood, clearing brush and forests, etc.

I love animals - my first ever job when I was a teenager was at a cat / dog rescue, and I ended up working there for six years! I'd love to learn more and gain some experience working with farm animals.

I have plenty of experience working with kids and youth, as described above. I love getting the chance to connect with kiddos and am especially passionate about supporting learning through play and exploration in nature.

My love of food and cooking is endless. I'd be more than happy to help prepare meals for you and your family! I also grew up helping my family preserve wild berries and fruits from our trees, and have lots of experience canning and making jam, applesauce, etc.

I love living in small, cozy spaces and have a dream of designing / building my own tiny house someday. However I have next to no carpentry experience! If you're looking for a quick and keen learner or a strong extra pair of hands to help you with carpentry projects and are willing to take the time to teach, I'm in.
