Description
travelling is a precious privilege for me and i am ever grateful to be able to move freely about this amazing world - immersing myself in foreign countries, different cultures, cuisines and languages. both the thrill of being on the road and taking in as much as possible as well as staying for a longer period of time in one place to get to know it better fascinate me.
but the most important part is meeting people! whenever i stay a bit longer in one place i make friends - some for a short time of laughing, exploring or hanging out together, others for years to come. for me this is the only way of becoming a guest instead of "just a tourist". when i stay in a place i usually take up voluntary work just to have local "colleagues" and be - if only for a bit - part of the place i am visiting. so i feel that workaway was made for me :-D
for some years, i have worked as a tourguide all over the world: australia, new zealand, india, corse, the baltic states, england, usa, central america. about 10 years ago i became a freelance writer which allows me to be abroad a lot - whereever there is a place for my laptop. but i only spend half the day on my laptop and use the rest of the time to experience my surroundings.
i love gardening, have my own little garden and just enjoy working outdoors and get my hands dirty. this is why i visited the findhorn community in the north of scotland every summer for 14 years: to work as part of a team in the huge vegetable garden.
my other favorite pasttimes are yoga, swimming & snorkeling, games, cooking, backing, hiking, enjoying culture, meeting people.
i am usually vivid and talkative, can get along with most poeple, but also appreciate a bit of quiet time every now and then. being a german, i am quite reliable, punctual and responsible (oh, the stereotypes! ;-)
this is one side of me. the other loves to enjoy life, nature, good food and good company.Interests
