  • Description

Hi! My name is Marit, nice to meet you. Being a Belgian native who grew up in the United States and France and is currently living in London, I have always been used to travelling and learning about new cultures; and I LOVE it! Getting immersed in a whole new culture and language through local adventures and friendships brings me pure joy. Having just graduated form my Bachelor's degree in International Social policy, I am taking a gap year and travelling around South America, with as main aim to learn about the culture there as well as become fluent in Spanish. Other than that, I love musical theatre (and anything that involves music), teaching and playing with children and going on spontaneous adventures!

More details about my language interests
I am very excited to share my language skills with anyone who wishes to learn either English, French or Dutch. I know how difficult it is to learn a new language, especially in a school setting, so just talking and learning vocabulary in a more relaxed environment can be very beneficial. As for me, the main reason I want to become a workawayer is to improve my Spanish and one day become fluent, so any practice will be highly appreciated during my experiences.

  • More details about your skills

I just graduated from the London School of Economics studying international social policy, which involves a lot of social research, policy-making and writing essays. I am very interested in continuing my studies in education, as I want to help children and make sure every child gets an equal and adapted access to learning environments. I have previously worked in summer camps for children of all ages- one camp was specifically for children with learning disabilities such as autism or down syndrome, another was an english camp for french-speaking children. I have experience in mentoring, babysitting and tutoring children as well. I am a very creative and outgoing person who loves to get things moving and organise events. At my student residence, I was the "events officer" which meant I had to organise and fundraise the events of my hall. I have also been a content creator for social media such as Instagram or TikTok for my university, so I know how to film and edit short films. Lastly, I have done a Workaway in a hostel in Sevilla for over a month so have experience receiving guests and doing the admin tasks as well as bartending and making speciality coffee. Anything to do with social interactions and communications will therefore be a good fit for me.
