Description
Hey all - I'm Manthan! I'm 25 and hoping some time 'workingaway' (or meeting fellow workaway-ers) will continue my almost year-long journey of interacting with new places, people, and cultures as I build a better me before jumping onto the next big thing in my life.
I recently stepped away from a career in tech that had begun as a welcome challenge but had overtaken my whole identity. I left it all to work on myself and find fulfillment in the simpler things the world has to offer again: like randomly picking edible berries on forest runs, reading for pleasure for the first time in years, and finding the best local bakeries! My adventures eventually took me across Texan deserts, down to the Florida Key Islands, up the volcanic mountain ranges of Hawaii, and all over New York City’s boroughs/districts.
I’ve never stopped at just one interest. Horror movies, stoic philosophy, sustainable living, art deco architecture, the latest afrobeats, cultural anthropology – I could talk about all of this and more for hours. If it’s something I’m not familiar with, I’m eager to listen for even longer!
I’m thrilled to see how my workaway experiences (abroad and close to home) add to who I am and all the amazing people I’m sure to meet along the way!

I grew up working on farmland:
- can operate a motor tractor and many of it attachments
- can handle several types of livestock (cows, horses, donkeys...)
- experienced in agriculture and maintaining flowering plants
- spent 6 months as a groundskeeper/caretaker at a rehabilitative ranch for former race horses
- educated in the foraging of native plants in tropical conditions and the southern USA
I'm excited to learn all the different things there are to know about other plants and other environments! If sailboats are somehow involved, I also have 4 years of experience racing them!

I would like to develop a better knowledge and skillset around other styles of cooking, baking, and jam-making if at all possible! Much of my current style of cooking is influenced by South American and Indian spices and would love to share my tastes in return!
