Description
Hello my name is Madison McCranie I am a 26-year-old chef living in New York City who is looking for places in Columbia, Peru, Bolivia to come experience and learn about (I am open to other areas to visit as well). I am travel with a childhood friend for the first time through workaway but have previously stayed with a few hosts while traveling solo in central america and loved the experience and can't wait for more.
Trip Information:

Work:
For the past 6 years I've been heavy invested in the restaurant scene in Manhattan and Brooklyn and will finish up my second stint as a head chef as I look to reset from the city and go explore South America. During my time I have worked at both one- and two-star Michelin restaurants cooking a variety of cuisines from Spanish, French and Hunan to new americana I would love to learn local dishes and cook whenever possible or needed. For one of these restaurants and for my own catering business I am in charge of the social media accounts and grown both into viable marketing material with photos, clips, reels and video (I will have a camera as I travel). I have also been working as a tour guild for the many boroughs and neighborhoods of the city showing the gems that it has to offer and love working in face-to-face hospitality.
Skills:
On previous Workaway I have served in a variety of ways and have to problems learning new necessary skills when called upon. Anything from construction and tiling a brand-new hostel in the jungle, teaching children English in Guatemala, to working the front desk and setting up a new Wi-Fi network in Nicaragua, I am down for whatever is needed. I build a lot of my own furniture and can woodwork at home as well as grew up with a large food garden back in Georgia (also worked on a coffee farm in Columbia which was awesome).
