Hi! We are Jock and Gianna and we are an outgoing, adventurous couple who loves to travel, meet new people and have new experiences. We are both new to workaway but are excited by the possibilities it brings for a better connection to the places we travel and the people who live there.

For a little about Jock, he loves to spend time outdoors, some of his favorite hobbies include hiking, skiing, and spending time on his garden. He loves music, both listening to many different types and playing songs on the guitar which he has played for many years. He also loves to cook and is excited at the prospect of learning how to prepare new dishes from new places that he has never eaten or cooked before!

For a little about Gianna, she loves to camp, read, cook and eat pasta, and has a love for working with children. She also is a big music listener with eclectic taste spanning multiple genres and lover of live music in the US. She loves to travel especially because of the opportunities it gives to experience new cultures and ways of living that differ from the US.

In the US, Jock went to university for mechanical engineering, and after graduating worked in the energy field helping reduce carbon emissions in buildings. Helping in the fight against climate change has always been a large goal guiding what we pursue in life, and we try to live our lives as sustainably as possible! Gianna worked as a behavioral therapist with children with autism after studying psychology and sociology. Here she found her love for working with children and helping those who need extra assistance and neurodivergent people.

Gianna and I were working for a few years after graduating, but both always knew that traveling and experiencing cultures outside of the US was a very important value to us. This is why we decided to save up our money so that we could travel full time for a while and live our dream!

Since October, we have been backpacking through Central and then South America and have already had so many life changing experiences and are excited for more to come!

We would both love to learn any language we have the opportunity to. We both studied some spanish in primary school through high school but Gianna especially would love to brush up and practice. We are both fluent american english speakers and are willing to teach others.

Jock went to school for mechanical engineering and has a good understanding of engineering concepts and applications for building systems and energy systems. During university, he helped to design an off-grid house that used renewable energy to sustain itself.

During college he also lived in Madrid with a Madrileño family and is relatively fluent in spanish (but needs to brush up on dialects outside of Spain). He also is fluent in english and is willing to teach!

Jock is a hard worker and has worked in the past as grounds crew at a tennis club, and can do that kind of labor. He is handy and able to figure out how to fix many things if they need repairing. He is also able to cook well and prepare meals for large groups if needed.

Gianna graduated from university with dual degrees in psychology and sociology. Since graduating she has worked in a clinic providing one-on-one therapy to children with special needs (e.g. autism). She is great at working with kids and loves woking with animals as well.

She also is a great cook and loves to do yard work activities outside. Both Gianna and Jock are fast and eager learners who are ready to tackle whatever task we are needed for!
