Hello from Christchurch, New Zealand

We are a Dutch/Australian couple in our 50’s who have been based in NZ for many years & very much feel like adopted Kiwis!

We are looking at travelling for a few months next year and are very interested by the WorkAway philosophy.

Our house has been booked for 3 months by an American family, so we thought we would take the opportunity to travel. We are active & enjoy completing practical tasks

I spent a few years at the Château du Fey in Burgundy when it was operating as the La Varenne cooking school. I studied cuisine for the first 8 months & then stayed on as the winter caretaker where I completed small maintenance jobs, kept the office running & welcomed any family guests that came to stay. When the school reopened again, I was given the fabulous job of Course Director for the 6 month school season. I stayed another winter & then worked again when the school was open. I have guest relations/PA reception/private chef/nanny experience and speak English & conversational French.

John is an registered architect & a very talented handy man. He is mechanically minded & knows how to fix almost anything! We are currently completing the landscaping at our newly built Certified Passivhaus in Christchurch. We have a beautiful new potager garden with raised beds & extensive paving in different areas of the garden - both built by John (with a bit of help from me!) He has also fitted out our wardrobes, laundry shelving & a magnificent hall/coat rack. He speaks English & Dutch.

We are current super hosts of 3 properties in Christchurch and the stars have aligned so that we have 3 months of long stay bookings & we have decided to take the opportunity to travel.
