I love horse riding and spending time in the countryside, although towns and cities are always fun. I worked on a vineyard for 10 weeks last year, and am now at University studying English Literature.

  • Description

Hi everyone! I joined Workaway during my Gap Year from September 2019 to March 2020 (Coronavirus cut it short) so I could volunteer on a Horse Trekking Centre in Tasmania. This was one of the best experiences of my life and I would love to do a similar thing again, amongst travelling and learning languages.
I love reading, writing, horse riding and care, cooking and baking (although these two need much improvement), travelling, and much more. I would love to become fluent in German and see more of the country.
I attended boarding school for 7 years, and earned the role of Head of House in my final year. I am therefore used to living away from home, and strive to make the most of everything I do. I am currently attending University in England, studying English Literature and Creative Writing, but live in Italy with my family outside term time. I also lived in Germany between 2013 and 2017.
I can't wait to go travelling and volunteering again once it is safe to do so!

  • More details about your skills

I attended boarding school for 7 years and studied English literature, history, and German. I love reading and writing; I've written several short stories and set a personal best of 16 books read in July 2019 whilst travelling solo around central Eastern Europe. I have intermediate experience with horse riding and I love taking care of horses and helping around the yard. I did a week of work experience in Ashbrook Equine Veterinary, and I have volunteered at three stables before.
I am organised and diplomatic, and make friends with ease. I have experience of leadership due to being Head of House and Head of RAF at school, however I prefer to lead behind the scenes rather than up front.
I love walking and sailing; I’ve spent a week every summer in the Lake District on holiday, as week as undertaking the Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards through school. I also walked the West Highland Way with a couple of friends in August 2019.
I learnt Taekwondo from the ago of 12 to 18, and thus achieved my blue-belt red-tag. I enjoyed netball and hockey at school, however martial arts and horse riding are by far my favourite!

  • What else ...

I love history, horses, dogs (particularly border collies!), reading, writing, travelling, baking, walking, beaches, camping, mulled wine, gelato, chocolate, pizza, pretzels (can you tell I’ve lived in Germany and Italy?) and pretty much anything other than mosquitoes and slow walkers. I am relatively quiet but happy to help behind the scenes and independently, so long as I am provided with detailed instructions. I am happy to learn on the job and help out to the best of my abilities.
