I’m 26 year old Finnish girl from Helsinki. I’m planning on spending my next summer vacation by doing a WorkAway. I did my first WorkAway last summer in the Faroe Island, and just loved the experience.

A little about me: I work as psychologist with children. My hobbies include kayaking and sailing. When I have the chance, I love to go hiking and snowboarding, and other outdoor sports. I like jogging, bicycling, dancing and hiit-training. I enjoy drawing, oil-painting and reading books. I have a dog with whom I love to have long walks. My family and friends bring me happiness, and I also love to meet new people.

For two different summers, I have been working in the Finnish archipelago in cafe/hotel. I have baked, made breakfast and lunch, cleaned the apartments and done customer service in finnish, swedish and english. I loved to live in this community for the summer. During free time we went swimming, kayaking and enjoyed each others company. I spent a week in the islands and then had couple days free, so in many ways it resembles the WorkAway experience as well. Before this, I have worked in cafes in the city and have barista training.

As psychologist, I currently work with children. I have also worked in kindergarden. I enjoy children’s company a lot.

I would love to do many creative tasks, like painting or photographing.

I’m motivated in learning more about gardening, building and other needed skills.

What else ...

This is my second time going on a Workaway. Before that, I have travelled in Asia, Mid-America, Europe and Africa. From my travels the best ones have been the ones where I have lived with the locals and be part of the surrounding culture. I have lived one year in Spain and one year in the United States.

I find meaning in life from people and nature. I want to understand what it is to be human. Part of this understanding, is to travel and have conversations with different people around the world. This is why Workaway is the best way for me to travel. I have the chance to get to know new people and learn more about their culture. In the same time, I can do this surrounded by beautiful nature. By becoming a WorkAwayer, I have the opportunity to have an amazing adventure in a new beautiful country with the local people.
