I’m Jamie, I’m 24 and come from the Lake District in the UK. I love being in nature, especially hiking and camping in the mountains. I’m passionate about all kinds of music, especially folk music, and I play several instruments. I’m also keen on gardening; I currently share an allotment with my friends. I’m hoping to explore more of the world, meet people, and learn more about natural and sustainable living :)

I have some experience gardening and woodworking from taking over and developing a large allotment with my friends, such as building borders for the beds and planting crops. I also have experience with communal living such as cooking for large groups, cleaning, and more fun things like playing music together. I have some experience with childcare, having done lots of babysitting for neighbours growing up, and in my present job role have worked with young children conducting research into early years education. I also have 2 years experience in office work if this would be useful.

What else ...

My biggest passion is music, I play the guitar and mandolin and am picking up the banjo. Currently I host weekly folk music nights with a big group, with an emphasis on being participatory. I love being exposed to new songs and styles from round the world.
I also love arts and crafts, especially whittling; I like to carve and paint gifts for friends/family rather than buying new things. I’m currently working on a chess set!
I love the outdoors, especially hiking & camping, trail running, rock climbing, and wild swimming.
I’m also a bookworm and love reading and learning about the history and culture of the places I visit.
