Hi there! Our names are Helen and Lily and we are two friends traveling New Zealand together. We are so excited to experience all the beauty this country has to offer and to meet new friends along the way. Our dream Workaway experience would enable us to really get to know a place through the people who love and steward it and by helping with whatever projects are needed. We love to laugh, spend time outside, cook, watch movies and play board games.
Helen: I am 25 and have spent the last couple of years working at a creative reuse non-profit as a volunteer coordinator in Portland, OR, which is also my home town! I love the job because I got to connect with so many people and pursue my passion for sustainability. Before that I spent time working at a local bookstore and completed a 6 month-long farming apprenticeship on a small organic vegetable farm. I was immersed in farming, working really hard and taking care of the land which I loved! When I'm not at work I love to read, hike and talk to people.
Lily: I am 25 and have also worked at a creative reuse non-profit in Portland, OR. Which is also my home town! I enjoyed getting to be creative, doing silly ever changing tasks, and being able to divert supplies from the waste stream! Before that I worked at a local bookstore and worked at an outdoor education camp! When I'm not at work I love to read, play cards, lay in the sun, and swim in any body of water possible!
