  • Description

    Hello!
Thank you for stopping by to check out my profile.

I am originally from Cambridge in the UK. I have spent roughly 15 years living and working as a digital nomad abroad in Germany, France, Portugal, and Spain, but now, I am planning to return to the UK in the hope that I can join some exciting projects and make a difference on home turf.

My skill set is relatively broad. I was born into a farming family and have a wealth of knowledge and experience in farming, forestry, gardening, and construction. At age 18, I began a career as a chef in London, where I trained and worked in some incredible restaurants over an 8-year period. After leaving the kitchens, I began working in the music industry, both as a producer and as a teacher. A more detailed summary of my skills can be found below.

I am motivated by kind, thoughtful, and considerate people who communicate in an open and honest way. I love challenging projects and work well both alone and as part of a team. Being in, working with, and living harmoniously with nature makes me profoundly happy, as does working in an effective and well-structured team of people to develop and realize projects. Feeding people and bringing people together for the ritual of eating has always brought me immense joy!

I would love to hear from you if you feel that my skill set would be an asset to your project. I am ideally looking for a paid position and something longer-term that I can really get stuck into!

    Thanks,
    George

  • More details about your skills

    Cooking:
I trained as a chef for 8 years in some of London's best restaurants. I cook using a seasonal approach and have a detailed understanding of ingredients and a vast portfolio of recipes. I am also highly experienced in budgeting, ordering, and organizing daily menus. I can cook for up to 20 people by myself. Beyond that, I would need an extra pair of hands!

Growing Produce, Garden Planning, and Maintenance:
I come from a long line of farmers. My grandfather was a potato merchant and market gardener, and he taught me how to treat and care for the soil properly. He also taught me the best methods for seeding the ground, rotating the crops, planning the garden, creating planting schedules, and composting. I absolutely love to grow produce and then cook with it!

I also have a wealth of experience with deforestation and working with a chainsaw to clear and manage woodland, turning wood into usable construction materials, firewood, wood chips, and so on.

    Carpentry and Construction:
I worked for several years as a partitioner (constructing stud walls) in both commercial and domestic spaces. My father, an interior designer, taught me how to use AutoCAD to create simple plans for construction projects. I can use most power tools with confidence and expertise, and I work methodically, planning construction projects meticulously before carrying out the work. I am also proficient at working with wood, able to build basic furniture, staircases, window frames, and so on. I am very familiar with the tools and methods used to achieve these kinds of projects.

To sum up my skill set, I would consider myself a strong, hardworking guy who can rely on logic and a methodical approach to accomplish most tasks. I never make promises or claim to know how to achieve something when I don't. Equally, I am not afraid to ask for help when it's needed to get a job done properly. I am responsible and trustworthy, neat, tidy, and always finish a project in its entirety before moving on to something else.

  • What else ...

I run an online music school and have been chained to my computer for many years. I am here fundamentally to take a break from the digital world i've been living in and get back out in nature, where i (we all) belong!
I am enthusiastic, very social and fun to be around and work with. I have many skills to offer but am constantly hungry to learn new things, to add strings to my bow and to further my understanding of the world!
