Hi, I'm Friedrich :)

I'm a 23-year old medical student from Germany.
(Don't worry - that doesn't mean my fingers are all thumbs, I've already done some WorkAway stays in the past ;) )

My original plan was to cycle around the globe summer of 2024. Due to a knee injury those plans said good-bye.
Life seldom comes in the way we expect it, doesn't it?
So now I'm going to use my new free time to explore parts of the middle east.

I'm incredibly thankful to the amount of opportunities we get through WorkAway.
I've already been blessed with 3 great experiences in Norway, Ghana and Montenegro, where I was allowed to learn about DIY carpentry, painting, boat maintenance, construction work, teaching, cooking and much more!

However the one thing I really can offer is a high level of commitment.
I'm very eager to learn and experience life.
Whether that means a long day of hard work, embracing solitude and silence in nature, connecting with locals, enjoying the local cuisine, learning languages or anything else :)

I'm always happy to get my hands dirty and work outside in nature. Taxing physical work is no problem for me. In contrast, I'm even happy to get sweaty and embrace those challenges!

I am currently trying to learn some arab, but I am just starting out.I also plan on learning the basics from the language of the place I am staying, as this is also a important part of the culuture.

- I don't mind working longer hours. I'm thankful for anyone offering their hospitality and will "pay" it back with an honest interest in your way of living and good work.

cooking
- I've been cooking a lot for 5 years now, even for up to 10 people.
Though I have to admit that it's easier to cook for fewer people ;)

DIY
- basic skills in carpentry, painting and more. My skills here aren't extremly proficient.
However I have the basics down and am looking to improve further.

Housekeeping and general maintenance
- I've been living by my own or in shared flats for the past 5 years now.
That taught me a lot regarding general maintenance, cleaning and housekeeping.

Caretaking
- it's mandatory for medical students to complete 100 days of a nursing internship.
I was allowed to learn all the basics in Caretaking from wound-management to helping diabled people
