I love being in nature, whether walking in the woods alongside a river or watching birds in my backyard. I'm also a passionate singer and deeply enjoy listening to music, dancing, and moving my body in ways that allow me to feel and express emotion. Practicing yoga in recent months has helped me greatly and has helped me to cultivate my connection to my body. I'm an animal lover through and through. I love cats, dogs, and everything in between (so the more animals, the better!!) I care deeply about taking care of our bodies, minds, souls, and spirit, and I'm learning how to do so every day by living presently and freely and by doing what feels good!

I've worked with children since being an adolescent, from babysitting to camp counseling to classroom support. I've also worked in several restaurants from more low-scale cafe environments to fine dining, so I'm skilled in the service industry. I did an internship once at a local botanical garden and was tasked with weeding, planting, and tending to the gardens so I have some experience with that, but would love to learn more. Also, I have limited experience doing beginner-level carpentry, such as operating drills, applying drywall, spackling, and painting. Importantly, I'm an excellent learner, so if you were skilled in this and could show me some ropes, I'm confident I could pick it up and execute it well. I have a knack for visual aesthetics and art. I'm a perfectionist in this way, I like detail-oriented hands-on projects. I can do laundry, wash dishes, clean floors and all the above for household chores. I have a driver's license as well. I'm also quite good at navigating technology, the standard level for a Gen-Z 22-year-old. I sing too, so if you don't mind having some background music around your house and space, I'll be a great fit!

Coffee lover! I care deeply about eating whole, nutritious food. Practicing anti-racism and gender liberation in all aspects of my life. I love a good game of solitaire or Egyptian ratscrew. I love to write (prose and poetry). Hiking in the woods is one of my favorite weekend activities. Very interested in alternative therapies, holistic healing, and meditation. One of my favorite movies is Soul (Disney/Pixar), and while we're at it, most Disney/Pixar movies are. I'll never get tired of a good animation.

What a delight it was to stay at the pinnacle household for the three weeks that I did! Short but sweet, I'm already missing the peace and quiet and my cozy little bungalow. I stayed in the bunkhouse; it was perfectly comfortable, and the limited cell service made for a great break from social media and the internet world (to be clear, there is… read more great connection in the main house if one needed).

Where to start!? First off, Peter is one busy man! There is surely always something to do. You can expect lots of projects to attend to and may find the various manual labor tasks quite rewarding (and meditative), as I did. We worked in the garden; I learned of weeding and planting and of the endless edible possibilities in the garden, weeds and all. I did some painting, cleaning, and organizing, and mowed my first lawn. If you enjoy working hard and taking on initiatives, I think you'll enjoy this work. Of course, towards the end of my time, the summer course with Luna took priority, and I greatly enjoyed working with Luna, who is the sweetest teen I could've asked to spend time with. It was a great challenge for me, but we worked together to understand what Luna needed and how she could learn best!

Peter was a gracious host, accommodating my needs for my comfort and always ensuring I was well-fed (I made a point to say that I like to eat a lot, which was no problem at all). He made yummy, beautiful, and easy dinners that left me with a happy tummy, and he directed me along to make my own meal as well when I admitted I might need some assistance. Plus, it's a norm in the house to have dessert after dinner. Score.

I was very glad to get to know Peter, Luna, and the other workawayers staying on the property during my time there. My goal for the experience was to get out of my comfort zone, and get out of my comfort zone, I did! As it was my first work away experience, I found myself unsure at times, and there were the usual discomforts of getting used to a new environment, but soon enough, I found myself right at home in the house, attending to my usual quirks and freely singing about (which everyone couldn't get enough of, right?). Communication was key! Peter makes that a point in his bio, and we stuck to it throughout the time, which I greatly appreciated.

Speaking of singing, there was an awesome open mic that Peter directed me to about 45 minutes away (I had my car which was a HUGE plus), and I had a blast singing at the open mics and practicing music with another workawayer who happened to be a great guitar player. We used Luna's guitar which has a pretty nice sound! Luna also has a keyboard which I enjoyed playing in the evening times, and Peter was so kind as to order a sustain pedal for my playing (and now for the house), so that I could play my tunes without cringing at their choppiness.

In my off time, I explored the surrounding area of Bellows Falls, a super cute little town with GREAT thrift opportunities and a cute little bar/restaurant as well. I also traveled as far as New Hampshire (about an hour away) to hike the mighty Mount Monadnock which was absolutely the most challenging and rewarding hike I have ever taken on. Would HIGHLY recommend it if you are a hiker! I spent some quality time with Miss Luna, got to know her and hear all about her adolescent moments in time, and spent some time exploring the property, the trails, the pond, with the lovely pup Siri! There was also an adorable kitty named Sally, an outdoor cat who became a regular right at the beginning of my stay; the friendliest feral cat you've ever met!

Overall, my stay was a time that will be forever treasured in my heart. I gained so much wisdom through the experience, however short it was. The mountain views were breathtaking, and the night sky with a waning moon felt like a simulation— I couldn’t believe how bright the stars were (you don't see that in suburbia). This is country living at its finest, and I’m so happy I got a slice of it. From harvesting and washing garlic to weeding the perennial garden, to stacking wood, I enjoyed the mindful work and the reward of cultivating my own space in a place that I felt comfortable to do so. The peace, the quiet, and the solitude mixed with lots of pleasant company was a time well spent. I made some great friends and learned more about being on my own.

Peter and Luna, thank you so much for having me! Siri, you are a great protector of the property, too. Until we meet again Green Mountain State!
