My next destination:
Panama - from Feb 2024 until May 2024 View allDescription
Hello! I am a virtual reality software engineer living in San Francisco. I have lived in California for most of my life: I grew up in San Diego then moved to the Bay Area for college/work. In my free time, I love to play with my cat and dog, play piano and sing, video game, hike, bike, camp, and tend to my herb garden. I am a big animal lover and outdoors person, and I am always looking for adventure and ways to build community.
I have had this dream of running my own farm ever since I was little. My family owned a small coffee farm in the hills of Boquete, Panama, so I had already had some exposure to what having a farm looks like, but because I lived in the suburbs of California, I yearned for more of the countryside. Also, I am half-Panamanian but my Spanish is broken, and most of my family has only ever lived in Panama and only speaks Spanish, so I've always wanted to feel more connected to my Panamanian roots.
Through Workaway opportunities, I want to bring together three of my biggest goals:
- I can learn how to live and work on a farm and learn how to provide customer service to tourists with the hopes of running my own agritourism venture one day
- I can become fluent in Spanish so I can become closer to my Panamanian family
- I can live in Panama and feel more in touch with my heritage
I hope to match with folks who are excited to take on an eager learner of both farming practices, hospitality, and Spanish.Interests
