Description
Hello again, workawayers!
I spent the past 3 years living in Japan and just completed a Master's programme in Design at the University of Tsukuba. I loved exploring the beautiful natural sights of Japan as well as its traditions, where they have been preserved. Now I hope to explore Asia beyond Japan!
Prior to this I worked in the field of arts and culture in my home country (Bulgaria). I had many different roles from a freelancer to project manager or policy-maker in fields ranging from visual arts and architecture to dance, theatre and opera. I have rich experience with managing non-profit projects and mostly with conceptualizing, funding and carrying out arts and cultural events or initiatives.
I am a keen adventurer and love nothing more than to find or create meaningful experiences. I love both the sea and the mountains: I sail (currently RYA Day Skipper, but planning for RYA Coastal Skipper very soon) and climb (though due to an injury that's on hold for now). I was born by the sea so it will always feel close to me.
I have reactivated my Workaway account with the hope that I can share with and learn from the rich community. I am particularly interested in improving my technical or manual skills (such as building, carpentry, etc.) or collaborating on art projects, but I am open to a variety of experiences and adaptable. I enjoy teaching (languages, dance, art history are all options), can take care of pets, households, can cook and would gladly contribute to any creative tasks (redecorating, sewing, etc.)

I have recently completed my studies after five long years of Scottish winds and rain, Gothic Revival castles, beautiful sights and some very interesting people. I am currently looking for a chance to experience something different while I consider my next steps.
At university I did History & History of Art which gave me good reason to spend long days in the library and a variety of interesting angles to help me explore the world. I am very interested in the links between art, culture and national identity and have a passion for design and architecture, therefore I would greatly enjoy working on art-related projects or residing among others with an interest in all things creative.
I have spent some time volunteering and interning for charities (in particular related to refugees and media), therefore I am also quite interested in community projects or any kind of work that is for a good cause, be it social or environmental, and that brings people together and fosters understanding.
Not in the last place, I cannot breathe without dance and I have been dancing for almost as long as I have been able to walk. I have tried a little bit of many styles, but have become most advanced in Salsa, Latin & Ballroom and contemporary dance and have a couple of years of experience teaching these styles.
I am originally from Bulgaria, where a grew up near the seaside. I love the mountains too, but the sea will always feel more like my natural habitat. I have inherited my father's dream to one day have a boat and sail around the world.
On a more personal note, I would not want to label myself a particular type of person, but if I have to explain what brings me to Workaway at this point, it would have to do with being curious and questioning, not appreciating easy or straightforward paths and having a dislike for following formulas. I hope to appreciate other ways of living and find ideas and inspiration.

DOMESTIC SKILLS
- I have a good understanding of healthy food and better than average cooking skills. I always seek to add variety to the meals I make by exploring different national cuisines or new ingredients.
- I am happy to help with cleaning and other daily tasks around the house.
- I have some experience taking care of cats, dogs and rabbits.
- I would also greatly enjoy learning about gardening and taking care of plants.
REPAIR SKILLS
- I can help with painting, designing and redecorating. I have studied design for a while and have a good aesthetic sense. I have experience with minor DIY projects and I usually learn using Internet resources.
- I am generally quite fit and can lift, carry, climb, etc.
- I am very keen to learn and not scared to try new things. I really want to learn more about building and repair as I consider such skills essential and widely applicable.
OTHER SKILLS
- I could teach English and provide some help with Cyrillic-based languages
- I can help with drawing, painting and other creative activities (esp. applied art, jewellery)
- I am an experienced dance teacher in salsa, latin & ballroom
