Description
Hi everyone! I’m Emma from the UK. I was lucky enough to obtain a working holiday visa just before my 36th birthday so I will be heading to Vancouver in mid July 2025 to start my Canadian adventure. I visited British Colombia and Alberta in June 2024 and have been dreaming of returning ever since.
I'm currently working in a full on operations management role for a bank in London, so I am looking forward to taking a break from the rat race and immersing myself in nature.
Throughout my life I have either had my own horse or helped care for my friend's.
l am most at peace when surrounded by animals, exploring the great outdoors and exercising.
I am looking for placements where I can get involved with animal care (especially horses), conservation and physical work. I am always up for exploring new places, developing new skills and meeting new people.
I am hard working and can keep myself motivated working individually or as part of a team.
I can't wait to make some amazing memories and look forward to meeting some of you along the way.

Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
French: BeginnerMore details about my language interests
I enjoyed learning languages whilst I was at school. I achieved an A grade in A-level English literature and C in A-level French. I also studied Latin and German in secondary school. I would be open to teaching English if the opportunity arose. I have volunteered at a primary school previously and listened to children reading and helping them when they got stuck. This was a rewarding role.
Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn
I'm interested in:
Eco Projects
Gardening
Some knowledge of:
Being an elderly companion
Charity Work
Animal Care
Life at a Farmstay
Helping around the house
House and pet sitting

More details about your skills
Having lived on my own and supported myself financially for almost 10 years I respect people's property and am always willing to help around the house. I have owned 3 horses in my lifetime and still help my friends at the stables with mucking out and riding their horses most weekends. I have had cats as pets and grew up with dogs as my grandparents had them.
I am not averse to physical work and enjoy being outdoors. I currently spend Monday to Friday sat at a desk so being in an active role would be the dream!
I have driven for almost 20 years and love it.
One of my favourite past times is spending time with my 3 year old niece and friends' 3 year old twins so I am good at entertaining young children. I have done volunteer roles in the UK where I listen to young children read and I currently volunteer for the Stroke Association. This involves calling a stroke survivor once a week for 8 weeks and having a 30 minute conversation with them. My Mother had a stroke in 2017 and struggles with limited mobility and speech as a result. I am empathetic and understand the struggles disabled people encounter.
I speak fluent English but am always interested in new languages. I studied French to the age of 17 and wish I had continued.
I love challenging myself physically whether that's via 10k events, Hyrox competitions and outdoor fitness classes in sub zero temperatures. My greatest fitness achievement is reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. That was an incredible experience being above the clouds!
I am excited to help you achieve your goals and look forward to making new friends along the way.
