My name is David and I am from Portugal. I have lived abroad working for the last 6 years in Austria, England, Belgium, Switzerland and most recently in Iceland. However, I have always wanted to do a gap year and travel for a while, so I recently quit my job as a Bioengineer to do exactly that without having a defined itinerary! I'm hoping Workaway will give me the opportunity to have different experiences and I am open to try everything once!

I have taught English and Portuguese as a second language in private classes, so I am comfortable teaching these up to a B1 level.
I am from the south of Portugal, which is a sunny touristic area, so I have done some hospitality work during summer, mainly in reception (I speak 4 languages), as well as working with my father in pool and garden maintenance.
I also volunteered with a dog shelter in Lisbon for 2 years (1 day per week) and was responsible for cleaning, feeding, and walking the dogs.

I love hiking and discovering new places, as well as swimming and more recently scuba diving. I also want to learn how to surf! Basically any water activity is good for me. For more calm activities I love reading, playing board games, and video games.
