Description
Hello! I am Anne, a French Canadian student taking a gap year before starting university in Montreal. My red backpack and I will be travelling through Turkey and wherever this adventure will take us, maybe Grece, maybe Romania! Turkey is my first destination because I was drawn by the unique culture and the incredible landscapes! Curious and excited, I love the great outdoors and learning new ways of living. I love hiking, cycling, canoe camping, and the list goes on. As well as exploring historical sites, I wish to hike throught the mountains and the valleys.
I am looking for hosts to exchange with and live a different reality than at home. I am as much willing to share my culture as to experience new ones, and frankly looking forward to meeting new people.
When I come back home, I will pursue a bachelor's in art and sciences focused on environmental studies. I am invested in social activism and love to help around as much as I can and moslty to learn!
I am thrilled to leave for this trip and to finally experience something new rather than looking at the world through pictures!Interests

I started learning Turkish with Duolingo... I believe I need more than that to truly learn the language! My first language is French and I am completely willing to teach some! The same goes for English, which is my second language. In school, I have learned a little Spanish and would absolutely love to practice it more often with others.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

Not so sure where to begin, so I'll start with what I am doing this summer!
Customer service:
I am currently working as a tourist advisor for the Ministry of Tourism of Quebec where I do mostly customer service-related activities.
I have been a camp counsellor for the past 3 years in a canoe camping camp, where I got to spend most of my time hiking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing and doing other outdoors-related activities. I also have my first aid training for remote areas because of my years as a camp counsellor.
Other than that, I have been a tutor (mostly in mathematics) for most of my life, I have worked in a pharmacy, in a local gift shop and even as a florist for a little while.
Studies:
For the past two years, I have been studying in a program called Sciences, Letters and Arts where I studied biology, chemistry, and mathematics, as well as sociology, economics, history and arts (art history, painting and sculpting mostly). I am pretty versatile, I love a lot of things, but what I loved researching the most was pesticides, the sociological interaction between capitalist social norms and the environmental and health impact of using them in Quebec. (I am very interested in the environment and climate justice)
Various skills:
Because I thought it could be fun to mention...
Last year, I was the co-organizer of the outdoors club at my cegep. I have done a lot of camping and backpacking/cycling trips in Quebec and planned several of them, I can certainly help with that if needed!
I love flowers and know quite a lot about plants and mushrooms too, but I am no expert.
I know how to cook and bake, mostly vegetarian foods.
I know how to knit, sew and embroider.
I played a little violin when I was young... Does it count?

What else ...
I love to read! My favourite books are Anne of Green Gables (Lucy Maud Montgomery) and Ordinary People (Judith Guest), as for my favourite movie it used to be The Parent Trap, but now I'm torn between The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Little Women!
I love board games like Clue or where I get to feel like Sherlock Holmes. At home, we play a card game called Trou de Cul, it's fun, I can teach it!
As for music, I am not an amazing singer, but I do enjoy listening to music I can sing with people around me. I listen to jazz, pop, folklore and alternative music, a little of everything really. Some more information
