  • Description

    Hi!
We are Zuzana a Patricie, two young students from the Czech Republic and we would like to discover as much beauty as possible in the world and find it even in unusual places.
We met ourselves on a foreign project, so it might serve as an excellent example of how these international projects bring people together.
That is why we would like to participate in the workaway. Doing something meaningful that helps the community or nature while meeting friends for a lifetime brings us happiness.
We are both communicative, non-conflicted, open to learn new things and we both have always a smile on our faces so a good mood is for sure guaranteed with us.

More details about my language interests
Zuzana : I am open to learning new languages, I believe it could be a truly enriching experience! But I would be grateful for just practicing the English language. And even if I am not a qualified language teacher, I highly think that we could enhance the language skills by our simple discussion about daily topics (in english or french). I have never teached a language but I am open to try it!

We both have experience volunteering locally and internationally. Our part-time jobs are in the gastronomy sector, so getting along well with people and being able to cope even in a stressful situation is no problem for us. We enjoy working in a team but we are also independent enough.
For a better overview, we have divided our experiences and also listed what they involved and how they enriched us:

    Zuzana :
I would describe myself as an enthusiastic person who loves learning and discovering new skills from all different areas.

In terms of my work experience, I am experienced as a helper in the rural grocery shop where I communicated with the customers a lot, organized groceries, did a cashier work and packed orders so as took the deliveries. My other part-time job experience was in the sport shop where I worked as an advertiser of footwear and sportswear. So I have experienced more physically demanding work in the storage. Moreover, I have been working for more than a year in the Japanese restaurant called “Manya”, where I have tried the posts of a barman, seating manager and currently I am working as a waitress, which is the most fulfilling post for me because I love communicating and interacting with people.

In terms of my interests and abilities, I love everything related to art. I adore painting the landscapes, drawing the flora, the same as I am a big fan of embroidery and ceramics. So I believe the renovating, repairing projects and basically all the projects concerning manual work could be truly entertaining for me! Although I am not that much experienced in this project area.
I am also a big lover of nature. I was helping at the summer camp in the forests which I had been visiting since my childhood. And I am regularly helping my grandfather and my family with the maintenance of the garden and the harvest.
Moreover, I adore the majority of sports and during my life I tried a wide spectrum of them. So as athletics for several years, tennis, volleyball, ping-pong, even the fotball :D, majorettes for several years, swimming, street dance dancing, skiing, snowboarding, cycling and I even tried the krav maga and karate. So if anyone would be interested we could share our sport skills or learn them together ;))
In addition, I enjoy spending my time in a meaningful way. And I feel extremely grateful for everything I have in my life so I try to pass it to others too. I have been volunteering for several years in AFS international and non-governmental organization where we are helping foreign students to enhance their study stay in the Czech republic and also vica versa with Czech students in the foreign countries. And the AFS gave me in return irreplaceable experiences in the form of unforgettable memories, lifelong friends and also new abilities for which I will be forever grateful! These are the incalculable things.
And lastly, I adore traveling, discovering new cultures and meeting new people. So I would love to also share some traveling experiences, stories, tips and tricks!

    Patricie :
Experience in education and environmental protection:
I've been volunteering in a young nature conservation club for several years. We take care of a nature reserve in our town, go to camps and try to encourage children to connect with nature. I've been coming here since I was a kid, so surviving in the forest wouldn't be a problem for me:-D. My job now is to plan the program for the weekly meetings, invent games for the kids and make sure no one gets hurt and everyone has a good time.
I have also volunteered with several other organizations that are dedicated to education and conservation issues.

    experience working with people:
In addition to working with young children, I have experience with a completely different age group. I worked in a retirement home for a year, which was mentally and physically challenging, but taught me patience and many other useful things. There is also the experience of part-time jobs in the catering industry and cafes, which brought a higher level of flexibility and coping with working under stress.

    experience in physical work:
I participated in several workcamps where we repaired a historic building or mowed a meadow the old-fashioned way without a mower and kept the property in good condition. Also, my summer job is more physically demanding, so I'm not scared of working with my hands.
