Description
I’m a 27-year-old New Zealander who has travelled through Latin America and is now seeking a meaningful volunteer experience in Costa Rica that combines nature, community, creativity, and contribution.
Back home, I work as a Registered Nurse with a strong interest in holistic and environmental health. Nursing has shaped me into someone reliable, adaptable, and calm under pressure. I’m very comfortable working long hours, being hands-on, and supporting a team wherever needed. I understand that volunteering is about showing up consistently, contributing to daily operations, and helping create a positive environment for everyone.
I believe health outcomes are deeply shaped by the environments we live in. Guided by empathy, loyalty, and conscientiousness, I aim to use my knowledge to help create spaces that promote well-being, fun, and creativity while working alongside like-minded people.

More details about your skills
I’m physically fit and genuinely enjoy outdoor work. Surfing, hiking, and training keep me grounded and connected to nature. The nature of my work as a Registered Nurse affords me an excellent work ethic and ability to cope with shift work and long working hours as required. I would be happy to assist with gardening, landscaping, cleaning, maintenance, or any physical tasks.
Creativity is also a big part of who I am. Growing up in an artistic household helped me to develop my passion for art from a very young age. I enjoy creating large paintings on canvas and blank skateboard decks, and have completed a beginner's course in pottery. My work ranges from surrealism, landscape and all things outside of the box. I’ve painted murals and large-scale artworks at an eco-retreat in Colombia and would love to contribute artistically again - whether through murals, signage, creative projects, or collaborative ideas. I enjoy bringing personality into shared spaces, working with my hands, and allowing things to be messy at times!
Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology, and a Master’s in Health Sciences, endorsed in nursing. The knowledge I gained from this study has allowed me to examine complex health and social issues - such as health inequities, holistic and indigenous health models, globalisation and health promotion. I’m deeply interested in how environment, community, and culture shape wellbeing, which is one of the reasons Costa Rica’s biodiversity and environmental ethos draw me in.
I value shared meals, cultural exchange, learning languages (I’m currently improving my Spanish), and living simply in nature-based communities. I’m independent, easygoing, and genuinely motivated to contribute to spaces that promote wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
I would love to be part of a project where I can surf, explore nature, and contribute meaningfully to the community around me.
