Hello :)
My name is Zoe and this is my second time using this site and planning a work away! It's difficult to feel humble while describing yourself but I'll give it a shot. I grew up in a small town on a peninsula in Ontario, Canada. I've spent my entire life living on different great lakes in Ontario. I love being near the water, I find it so calming and it connects me to mother earth.
My career so far (~20 years) has been in the hospitality industry. I've worked in many different types of restaurants, most recently managing the biggest whisky bar in Northwestern Ontario. I appreciate the social and physical aspects of the service industry. I find joy in connecting with new people as well as connecting deeply with regular customers I've known for years.
My formal education involved me getting an Honors degree in Theatre and Film at McMaster University. Most recently I've put that knowledge to good use by organizing Haunted Tours in my town around Halloween. I write all of the peices based on the true history in my area and walk my guests around the streets after dark while telling my gruesome tales in costume. It's a lot of fun and very rewarding to provide my community with such an opportunity.
Some of my hobbies include playing the ukulele, reading, crocheting, camping and swimming.
I am planning on spending a month in Colombia with my partner Kyle will be joining me.

As mentioned above I have interest and experience in theatre and film and extensive experience in the hospitality industry.
Although languages aren't my strong suit I do have an interest in learning new things. Kyle knows French and Spanish well. Our primary language is English.
Kyle has a few rental properties that we both enjoy working on. We have painted, put in flooring, done minor plumbing and electric and a lot of cleaning over the years. We thoroughly enjoy finding new tenants to enjoy these spaces and love to see their excitement when they get to see the space completed that they get to call home.
We also love to garden and to improve our yard. Every spring we plant a bountiful garden that we get to enjoy. This includes fruits, vegetables and plants for the birds, bees and butterflies native to our area. Most recently we built a stone patio so that we can eat dinner and watch the sunset outside.
We are also animal lovers. Kyle often finds his family and friends asking him to watch their dogs while they are out of town. We often do this together and love caring for them, feeding them, taking them for walks, playing with them and teaching them tricks. We recently had a 19 year old cat that passed due to old age. We loved her deeply and miss her presence greatly. Fortunately we were given the opportunity to adopt a new cat from our local humane society. He fits in perfectly and we are thouroughly enjoying getting to know him.

Jungle conservation - Kyle has worked in Peru and Indonesia volunteering in reforesting, planting local seeds and seedlings to support orangutan populations, cacao, coffee, mango, pineapple, banana plants. Monitoring animal populations, brush clearing and construction of small farming structures. Working with local students and neighbours to teach and learn from the communities. We love meeting locals and experiencing their crafts and businesses.
