Hi everyone!



My name is Tom, I'm 31 years old and I'm from Cambridge, United Kingdom. I’m currently on a year of global travel in the US, South and South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand!



Several years ago I started thinking about taking a break from my job as a UX designer and setting out travel as widely as I could in a year. Now that countries have reopened and opportunities to travel and volunteer are on the rise I’ve headed out into the world!

Since April 2023 I’ve been traveling: So far I’ve been long distance hiking in the US, and backpacking through South Asia! I’ve taken up physical outdoor challenges, learnt about local and indigenous cultures, tasted new food, made new friends and had a great time everywhere I’ve been (except maybe the Indian night buses!)!

Now I’m heading on to Australia and New Zealand I’m looking for new opportunities to broaden my cultural horizons, meet new people and have new experiences! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know the world through local families and organisations and to bring depth to my travelling experience through work and volunteering.

I love the outdoors and long distance walking is one of my passions, ask me about what I’ve been up to in the UK and abroad! I’m always up for new adventures in nature, so any recommendations for local landscapes to explore send recommendations my way!

Another of my favourite hobbies is cooking, at home I’m usually cooking 3-5 meals a week with my partner and we love to experiment and explore a wide variety of global cuisine. Learning new recipes, flavours and combinations of ingredients from around the world excites me so please feel free to share your favourite recipes with me! I also have some experience in hospitality and retail.

I really enjoy meeting new people from different walks of life and understanding the world from their perspectives. I believe in the power of international connections and new friends on new continents can only help broaden my experience of the world.

I’m a deeply practical person and love helping out with or designing physical projects. I used to work in architecture a while back and DIY and design projects have dominated my spare time for the last few years. If you have a project you could use some support on reach out!

In working life I have experience in designing websites, user experiences and customer services as well as graphic design and creating documents or reports. I’m pretty handy with most productivity tools and some professional software so let me know if you think that can be of use!



Earning some money working by working more hours than usual is always an opportunity I’m open to talk about.



I consider myself an easy going, calm and responsible person and I hope I can bring a fun atmosphere to any project or environment I join.

I have experience in designing websites, user experiences and services as well as graphic design and planning/designing building projects and interiors (it’s been a long road!).

Comfortable and experienced with most commonly used productivity tools (Office, Google Workplace etc.) as well as facilitating workshops and assembling documents and reports.

I’m familiar with commonly used power tool, basic joinery and construction so can help out with practical work and DIY and help plan new projects.
